When Jesus then lifted up his eyesand saw a great companycome unto himhe saith unto PhilipWhence shall we buybreadthat these may eat

And this he said to prove himfor he himself knew what hewould do.

Philip answered himTwo hundred pennyworth of bread is notsufficient for themthat every one of them may take a little.

One of his disciplesAndrewSimon Peter s brothersaithunto him

There is a lad herewhich hath five barley loavesand twosmall fishesbut what are they among so many

And Jesus saidMake the men sit down. Now there was muchgrass in the place. So the men sat downin number about fivethousand.

And Jesus took the loavesand when he had given thankshedistributed to the disciplesand the disciples to them thatwere set downand likewise of the fishes as much as theywould.

When they were filledhe said unto his disciplesGather upthe fragments that remainthat nothing be lost.

Therefore they gathered them togetherand filled twelvebaskets with the fragments of the five barley loaveswhichremained over and above unto them that had eaten.

Then those menwhen they had seen the miracle that Jesus didsaidThis is of a truth that prophet that should come intothe world.

When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and takehim by forceto make him a kinghe departed again into amountain himself alone.

And when even was now comehis disciples went down unto thesea

And entered into a shipand went over the sea towardCapernaum. And it was now darkand Jesus was not come tothem.

And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirtyfurlongsthey see Jesus walking on the seaand drawing nighunto the shipand they were afraid.

But he saith unto themIt is Ibe not afraid.

Then they willingly received him into the shipandimmediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

The day followingwhen the people which stood on the otherside of the sea saw that there was none other boat theresavethat one whereinto his disciples were enteredand that Jesuswent not with his disciples into the boatbut that hisdisciples were gone away alone

Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto theplace where they did eat breadafter that the Lord had giventhanks

When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not thereneither his disciplesthey also took shippingand came toCapernaumseeking for Jesus.

And when they had found him on the other side of the seatheysaid unto himRabbiwhen camest thou hither

Jesus answered them and saidVerilyverilyI say unto youYe seek menot because ye saw the miraclesbut because yedid eat of the loavesand were filled.

Labour not for the meat which perishethbut for that meatwhich endureth unto everlasting lifewhich the Son of manshall give unto youfor him hath God the Father sealed.

Then said they unto himWhat shall we dothat we might workthe works of God

Jesus answered and said unto themThis is the work of Godthat ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

They said therefore unto himWhat sign shewest thou thenthat we may seeand believe theewhat dost thou work

Our fathers did eat manna in the desertas it is writtenHegave them bread from heaven to eat.

Then Jesus said unto themVerilyverilyI say unto you Moses gave you not that bread from heavenbut my Fathergiveth you the true bread from heaven.

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heavenandgiveth life unto the world.

Then said they unto himLordevermore give us this bread.

And Jesus said unto themI am the bread of lifehe thatcometh to me shall never hungerand he that believeth on meshall never thirst.

But I said unto youThat ye also have seen meand believenot.

All that the Father giveth me shall come to meand him thatcometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

For I came down from heavennot to do mine own willbut thewill of him that sent me.

And this is the Father s will which hath sent methat of allwhich he hath given me I should lose nothingbut should raiseit up again at the last day.

And this is the will of him that sent methat every one whichseeth the Sonand believeth on himmay have everlastinglifeand I will raise him up at the last day.

The Jews then murmured at himbecause he saidI am the breadwhich came down from heaven.

And they saidIs not this Jesusthe son of Josephwhosefather and mother we knowhow is it then that he saithIcame down from heaven

Jesus therefore answered and said unto themMurmur not amongyourselves.

No man can come to meexcept the Father which hath sent medraw himand I will raise him up at the last day.

It is written in the prophetsAnd they shall be all taught ofGod. Every man therefore that hath heardand hath learned ofthe Fathercometh unto me.

Not that any man hath seen the Fathersave he which is ofGodhe hath seen the Father.

VerilyverilyI say unto youHe that believeth on me hatheverlasting life.

I am that bread of life.

Your fathers did eat manna in the wildernessand are dead.

This is the bread which cometh down from heaventhat a manmay eat thereofand not die.

I am the living bread which came down from heavenif any maneat of this breadhe shall live for everand the bread thatI will give is my fleshwhich I will give for the life of theworld.

The Jews therefore strove among themselvessayingHow canthis man give us his flesh to eat

Then Jesus said unto themVerilyverilyI say unto you Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of manand drink hisbloodye have no life in you.

Whoso eateth my fleshand drinketh my bloodhath eternallifeand I will raise him up at the last day.

For my flesh is meat indeedand my blood is drink indeed.

He that eateth my fleshand drinketh my blooddwelleth inmeand I in him.

As the living Father hath sent meand I live by the Fatherso he that eateth meeven he shall live by me.

This is that bread which came down from heavennot as yourfathers did eat mannaand are deadhe that eateth of thisbread shall live for ever.

These things said he in the synagogueas he taught inCapernaum.

Many therefore of his discipleswhen they had heard thissaidThis is an hard sayingwho can hear it

When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at ithe said unto themDoth this offend you

What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he wasbefore

It is the spirit that quickeneththe flesh profiteth nothingthe words that I speak unto youthey are spiritand they arelife.

But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knewfrom the beginning who they were that believed notand whoshould betray him.

And he saidTherefore said I unto youthat no man can comeunto meexcept it were given unto him of my Father.

From that time many of his disciples went backand walked nomore with him.

Then said Jesus unto the twelveWill ye also go away
