John Chapter 8

Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.

And early in the morning he came again into the templeandall the people came unto himand he sat downand taughtthem.

And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman takenin adulteryand when they had set her in the midst

They say unto himMasterthis woman was taken in adulteryin the very act.

Now Moses in the law commanded usthat such should be stonedbut what sayest thou

This they saidtempting himthat they might have to accusehim. But Jesus stooped downand with his finger wrote on thegroundas though he heard them not.

So when they continued asking himhe lifted up himselfandsaid unto themHe that is without sin among youlet himfirst cast a stone at her.

And again he stooped downand wrote on the ground.

And they which heard itbeing convicted by their ownconsciencewent out one by onebeginning at the eldestevenunto the lastand Jesus was left aloneand the womanstanding in the midst.

When Jesus had lifted up himselfand saw none but the woman he said unto herWomanwhere are those thine accusershathno man condemned thee

She saidNo manLord. And Jesus said unto herNeither do Icondemn theegoand sin no more.

Then spake Jesus again unto themsayingI am the light ofthe worldhe that followeth me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life.

The Pharisees therefore said unto himThou bearest record ofthyselfthy record is not true.

Jesus answered and said unto themThough I bear record ofmyselfyet my record is truefor I know whence I cameandwhither I gobut ye cannot tell whence I comeand whither Igo.

Ye judge after the fleshI judge no man.

And yet if I judgemy judgment is truefor I am not alonebut I and the Father that sent me.

It is also written in your lawthat the testimony of two menis true.

I am one that bear witness of myselfand the Father that sentme beareth witness of me.

Then said they unto himWhere is thy FatherJesus answeredYe neither know menor my Fatherif ye had known meyeshould have known my Father also.

These words spake Jesus in the treasuryas he taught in thetempleand no man laid hands on himfor his hour was not yetcome.

Then said Jesus again unto themI go my wayand ye shallseek meand shall die in your sinswhither I goye cannotcome.

Then said the JewsWill he kill himselfbecause he saithWhither I goye cannot come.

And he said unto themYe are from beneathI am from aboveye are of this worldI am not of this world.

I said therefore unto youthat ye shall die in your sinsforif ye believe not that I am heye shall die in your sins.

Then said they unto himWho art thouAnd Jesus saith untothemEven the same that I said unto you from the beginning.

I have many things to say and to judge of youbut he thatsent me is trueand I speak to the world those things which Ihave heard of him.

They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.

Then said Jesus unto themWhen ye have lifted up the Son ofmanthen shall ye know that I am heand that I do nothing ofmyselfbut as my Father hath taught meI speak these things.

And he that sent me is with methe Father hath not left mealonefor I do always those things that please him.

As he spake these wordsmany believed on him.

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on himIf yecontinue in my wordthen are ye my disciples indeed

And ye shall know the truthand the truth shall make youfree.

They answered himWe be Abraham s seedand were never inbondage to any manhow sayest thouYe shall be made free

Jesus answered themVerilyverilyI say unto youWhosoevercommitteth sin is the servant of sin.

And the servant abideth not in the house for everbut the Sonabideth ever.

If the Son therefore shall make you freeye shall be freeindeed.

I know that ye are Abraham s seedbut ye seek to kill mebecause my word hath no place in you.

I speak that which I have seen with my Fatherand ye do thatwhich ye have seen with your father.

They answered and said unto himAbraham is our father. Jesussaith unto themIf ye were Abraham s childrenye would dothe works of Abraham.

But now ye seek to kill mea man that hath told you thetruthwhich I have heard of Godthis did not Abraham.

Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to himWe benot born of fornicationwe have one Fathereven God.

Jesus said unto themIf God were your Fatherye would lovemefor I proceeded forth and came from Godneither came I ofmyselfbut he sent me.

Why do ye not understand my speecheven because ye cannothear my word.

Ye are of your father the deviland the lusts of your fatherye will do. He was a murderer from the beginningand abodenot in the truthbecause there is no truth in him. When hespeaketh a liehe speaketh of his ownfor he is a liarandthe father of it.

And because I tell you the truthye believe me not.

Which of you convinceth me of sinAnd if I say the truthwhydo ye not believe me

He that is of God heareth God s wordsye therefore hear themnotbecause ye are not of God.

Then answered the Jewsand said unto himSay we not wellthat thou art a Samaritanand hast a devil

Jesus answeredI have not a devilbut I honour my Fatherand ye do dishonour me.

And I seek not mine own glorythere is one that seeketh andjudgeth.

VerilyverilyI say unto youIf a man keep my sayingheshall never see death.

Then said the Jews unto himNow we know that thou hast adevil. Abraham is deadand the prophetsand thou sayestIfa man keep my sayinghe shall never taste of death.

Art thou greater than our father Abrahamwhich is deadandthe prophets are deadwhom makest thou thyself

Jesus answeredIf I honour myselfmy honour is nothingitis my Father that honoureth meof whom ye saythat he isyour God

Yet ye have not known himbut I know himand if I shouldsayI know him notI shall be a liar like unto youbut Iknow himand keep his saying.

Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my dayand he saw itandwas glad.

Then said the Jews unto himThou art not yet fifty years oldand hast thou seen Abraham

Jesus said unto themVerilyverilyI say unto youBeforeAbraham wasI am.

Then took they up stones to cast at himbut Jesus hidhimselfand went out of the templegoing through the midstof themand so passed by.
