Matthew Chapter 8
1 When he was come down from the mountaingreat multitudesfollowed him.
2 Andbeholdthere came a leper and worshipped himsayingLordif thou wiltthou canst make me clean.
3 And Jesus put forth his handand touched himsayingI willbe thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 And Jesus saith unto himSee thou tell no manbut go thywayshew thyself to the priestand offer the gift that Mosescommandedfor a testimony unto them.
5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaumthere came unto hima centurionbeseeching him
6 And sayingLordmy servant lieth at home sick of the palsygrievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto himI will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and saidLordI am not worthy thatthou shouldest come under my roofbut speak the word onlyand my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authorityhaving soldiers under meandI say to this manGoand he goethand to anotherComeandhe comethand to my servantDo thisand he doeth it.
10 When Jesus heard ithe marvelledand said to them thatfollowedVerily I say unto youI have not found so greatfaithnonot in Israel.
11 And I say unto youThat many shall come from the east andwestand shall sit down with Abrahamand Isaacand Jacobin the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outerdarknessthere shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 And Jesus said unto the centurionGo thy wayand as thouhast believedso be it done unto thee. And his servant washealed in the selfsame hour.
14 And when Jesus was come into Peter s househe saw his wife smother laidand sick of a fever.
15 And he touched her handand the fever left herand shearoseand ministered unto them.
16 When the even was comethey brought unto him many that werepossessed with devilsand he cast out the spirits with hiswordand healed all that were sick
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias theprophetsayingHimself took our infirmitiesand bare oursicknesses.
18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about himhe gavecommandment to depart unto the other side.
19 And a certain scribe cameand said unto himMasterI willfollow thee whithersoever thou goest.
20 And Jesus saith unto himThe foxes have holesand the birdsof the air have nestsbut the Son of man hath not where tolay his head.
21 And another of his disciples said unto himLordsuffer mefirst to go and bury my father.
22 But Jesus said unto himFollow meand let the dead burytheir dead.
23 And when he was entered into a shiphis disciples followedhim.
24 Andbeholdthere arose a great tempest in the seainsomuchthat the ship was covered with the wavesbut he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to himand awoke himsayingLordsave uswe perish.
26 And he saith unto themWhy are ye fearfulO ye of littlefaithThen he aroseand rebuked the winds and the seaandthere was a great calm.
27 But the men marvelledsayingWhat manner of man is this that even the winds and the sea obey him
28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of theGergesenesthere met him two possessed with devilscomingout of the tombsexceeding fierceso that no man might passby that way.
29 Andbeholdthey cried outsayingWhat have we to do withtheeJesusthou Son of Godart thou come hither to tormentus before the time
30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swinefeeding.
31 So the devils besought himsayingIf thou cast us outsuffer us to go away into the herd of swine.
32 And he said unto themGo. And when they were come outtheywent into the herd of swineandbeholdthe whole herd ofswine ran violently down a steep place into the seaandperished in the waters.
33 And they that kept them fledand went their ways into thecityand told every thingand what was befallen to thepossessed of the devils.
34 Andbeholdthe whole city came out to meet Jesusand whenthey saw himthey besought him that he would depart out oftheir coasts.
