John Chapter 16
These things have I spoken unto youthat ye should not beoffended.
They shall put you out of the synagoguesyeathe timecomeththat whosoever killeth you will think that he doethGod service.
And these things will they do unto youbecause they have notknown the Fathernor me.
But these things have I told youthat when the time shallcomeye may remember that I told you of them. And thesethings I said not unto you at the beginningbecause I waswith you.
But now I go my way to him that sent meand none of youasketh meWhither goest thou
But because I have said these things unto yousorrow hathfilled your heart.
Nevertheless I tell you the truthIt is expedient for youthat I go awayfor if I go not awaythe Comforter will notcome unto youbut if I departI will send him unto you.
And when he is comehe will reprove the world of sinand ofrighteousnessand of judgment
Of sinbecause they believe not on me
Of righteousnessbecause I go to my Fatherand ye see me nomore
Of judgmentbecause the prince of this world is judged.
I have yet many things to say unto youbut ye cannot bearthem now.
Howbeit when hethe Spirit of truthis comehe will guideyou into all truthfor he shall not speak of himselfbutwhatsoever he shall hearthat shall he speakand he willshew you things to come.
He shall glorify mefor he shall receive of mineand shallshew it unto you.
All things that the Father hath are minetherefore said Ithat he shall take of mineand shall shew it unto you.
A little whileand ye shall not see meand againa littlewhileand ye shall see mebecause I go to the Father.
Then said some of his disciples among themselvesWhat is thisthat he saith unto usA little whileand ye shall not seemeand againa little whileand ye shall see meand Because I go to the Father
They said thereforeWhat is this that he saithA littlewhilewe cannot tell what he saith.
Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask himand saidunto themDo ye enquire among yourselves of that I saidAlittle whileand ye shall not see meand againa littlewhileand ye shall see me
VerilyverilyI say unto youThat ye shall weep and lament but the world shall rejoiceand ye shall be sorrowfulbutyour sorrow shall be turned into joy.
A woman when she is in travail hath sorrowbecause her houris comebut as soon as she is delivered of the childsheremembereth no more the anguishfor joy that a man is borninto the world.
And ye now therefore have sorrowbut I will see you againand your heart shall rejoiceand your joy no man taketh fromyou.
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. VerilyverilyI sayunto youWhatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my namehewill give it you.
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my nameaskand ye shallreceivethat your joy may be full.
These things have I spoken unto you in proverbsbut the timecomethwhen I shall no more speak unto you in proverbsbut Ishall shew you plainly of the Father.
At that day ye shall ask in my nameand I say not unto youthat I will pray the Father for you
For the Father himself loveth youbecause ye have loved meand have believed that I came out from God.
I came forth from the Fatherand am come into the worldagainI leave the worldand go to the Father.
His disciples said unto himLonow speakest thou plainlyand speakest no proverb.
Now are we sure that thou knowest all thingsand needest notthat any man should ask theeby this we believe that thoucamest forth from God.
Jesus answered themDo ye now believe
Beholdthe hour comethyeais now comethat ye shall bescatteredevery man to his ownand shall leave me aloneandyet I am not alonebecause the Father is with me.
These things I have spoken unto youthat in me ye might havepeace. In the world ye shall have tribulationbut be of goodcheerI have overcome the world.
