Then Pilate therefore took Jesusand scourged him.

And the soldiers platted a crown of thornsand put it on hisheadand they put on him a purple robe

And saidHailKing of the Jewsand they smote him withtheir hands.

Pilate therefore went forth againand saith unto them BeholdI bring him forth to youthat ye may know that I findno fault in him.

Then came Jesus forthwearing the crown of thornsand thepurple robe. And Pilate saith unto themBehold the man

When the chief priests therefore and officers saw himtheycried outsayingCrucify himcrucify him. Pilate saith untothemTake ye himand crucify himfor I find no fault inhim.

The Jews answered himWe have a lawand by our law he oughtto diebecause he made himself the Son of God.

When Pilate therefore heard that sayinghe was the moreafraid

And went again into the judgment halland saith unto JesusWhence art thouBut Jesus gave him no answer.

Then saith Pilate unto himSpeakest thou not unto meknowestthou not that I have power to crucify theeand have power torelease thee

Jesus answeredThou couldest have no power at all against meexcept it were given thee from abovetherefore he thatdelivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release himbut theJews cried outsayingIf thou let this man gothou art notCaesar s friendwhosoever maketh himself a king speakethagainst Caesar.

When Pilate therefore heard that sayinghe brought Jesusforthand sat down in the judgment seat in a place that iscalled the Pavementbut in the HebrewGabbatha.

And it was the preparation of the passoverand about thesixth hourand he saith unto the JewsBehold your King

But they cried outAway with himaway with himcrucify him.Pilate saith unto themShall I crucify your KingThe chiefpriests answeredWe have no king but Caesar.

Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. Andthey took Jesusand led him away.

And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called theplace of a skullwhich is called in the Hebrew Golgotha

Where they crucified himand two other with himon eitherside oneand Jesus in the midst.

And Pilate wrote a titleand put it on the cross. And thewriting was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

This title then read many of the Jewsfor the place whereJesus was crucified was nigh to the cityand it was writtenin Hebrewand Greekand Latin.

Then said the chief priests of the Jews to PilateWrite not The King of the Jewsbut that he saidI am King of the Jews.

Pilate answeredWhat I have written I have written.

Then the soldierswhen they had crucified Jesustook hisgarmentsand made four partsto every soldier a partandalso his coatnow the coat was without seamwoven from thetop throughout.

They said therefore among themselvesLet us not rend itbutcast lots for itwhose it shall bethat the scripture mightbe fulfilledwhich saithThey parted my raiment among them and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things thereforethe soldiers did.

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his motherand hismother s sisterMary the wife of Cleophasand MaryMagdalene.

When Jesus therefore saw his motherand the disciple standingbywhom he lovedhe saith unto his motherWomanbehold thyson

Then saith he to the discipleBehold thy motherAnd fromthat hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

After thisJesus knowing that all things were nowaccomplishedthat the scripture might be fulfilledsaithIthirst.

Now there was set a vessel full of vinegarand they filled aspunge with vinegarand put it upon hyssopand put it to hismouth.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegarhe saidIt isfinishedand he bowed his headand gave up the ghost.

The Jews thereforebecause it was the preparationthat thebodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath dayfor that sabbath day was an high day besought Pilate thattheir legs might be brokenand that they might be taken away.

Then came the soldiersand brake the legs of the firstandof the other which was crucified with him.

But when they came to Jesusand saw that he was dead alreadythey brake not his legs

But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his sideandforthwith came there out blood and water.

And he that saw it bare recordand his record is trueand heknoweth that he saith truethat ye might believe.

For these things were donethat the scripture should befulfilledA bone of him shall not be broken.

And again another scripture saithThey shall look on him whomthey pierced.

And after this Joseph of Arimathaeabeing a disciple ofJesusbut secretly for fear of the Jewsbesought Pilate thathe might take away the body of Jesusand Pilate gave himleave. He came thereforeand took the body of Jesus.

And there came also Nicodemuswhich at the first came toJesus by nightand brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes about an hundred pound weight.

Then took they the body of Jesusand wound it in linenclothes with the spicesas the manner of the Jews is to bury.

Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden and in the garden a new sepulchrewherein was never man yetlaid.
