And said unto himGet thee out of thy countryand from thykindredand come into the land which I shall shew thee.

Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeansand dwelt inCharranand from thencewhen his father was deadhe removedhim into this landwherein ye now dwell.

And he gave him none inheritance in itnonot so much as toset his foot onyet he promised that he would give it to himfor a possessionand to his seed after himwhen as yet hehad no child.

And God spake on this wiseThat his seed should sojourn in astrange landand that they should bring them into bondageand entreat them evil four hundred years.

And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judgesaid Godand after that shall they come forthand serve mein this place.

And he gave him the covenant of circumcisionand so Abrahambegat Isaacand circumcised him the eighth dayand Isaacbegat Jacoband Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

And the patriarchsmoved with envysold Joseph into Egypt but God was with him

And delivered him out of all his afflictionsand gave himfavour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egyptandhe made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt andChanaanand great afflictionand our fathers found nosustenance.

But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypthe sent outour fathers first.

And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethrenand Joseph s kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.

Then sent Josephand called his father Jacob to himand allhis kindredthreescore and fifteen souls.

So Jacob went down into Egyptand diedheand our fathers

And were carried over into Sychemand laid in the sepulchrethat Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmorthe father of Sychem.

But when the time of the promise drew nighwhich God hadsworn to Abrahamthe people grew and multiplied in Egypt

Till another king arosewhich knew not Joseph.

The same dealt subtilly with our kindredand evil entreatedour fathersso that they cast out their young childrentothe end they might not live.

In which time Moses was bornand was exceeding fairandnourished up in his father s house three months

And when he was cast outPharaoh s daughter took him upandnourished him for her own son.

And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptiansandwas mighty in words and in deeds.

And when he was full forty years oldit came into his heartto visit his brethren the children of Israel.

And seeing one of them suffer wronghe defended himandavenged him that was oppressedand smote the Egyptian

For he supposed his brethren would have understood how thatGod by his hand would deliver thembut they understood not.

And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove and would have set them at one againsayingSirsye arebrethrenwhy do ye wrong one to another

But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him awaysaying Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us

Wilt thou kill meas thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday

Then fled Moses at this sayingand was a stranger in the landof Madianwhere he begat two sons.

And when forty years were expiredthere appeared to him inthe wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flameof fire in a bush.

When Moses saw ithe wondered at the sightand as he drewnear to behold itthe voice of the LORD came unto him

SayingI am the God of thy fathersthe God of Abrahamandthe God of Isaacand the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled and durst not behold.

Then said the Lord to himPut off thy shoes from thy feet for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

I have seenI have seen the affliction of my people which isin Egyptand I have heard their groaningand am come down todeliver them. And now comeI will send thee into Egypt.

This Moses whom they refusedsayingWho made thee a rulerand a judgethe same did God send to be a ruler and adeliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him inthe bush.

He brought them outafter that he had shewed wonders andsigns in the land of Egyptand in the Red seaand in thewilderness forty years.

This is that Moseswhich said unto the children of IsraelAprophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of yourbrethrenlike unto mehim shall ye hear.

This is hethat was in the church in the wilderness with theangel which spake to him in the mount Sinaand with ourfatherswho received the lively oracles to give unto us

To whom our fathers would not obeybut thrust him from them and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt

Saying unto AaronMake us gods to go before usfor as forthis Moseswhich brought us out of the land of Egyptwe wotnot what is become of him.

And they made a calf in those daysand offered sacrifice untothe idoland rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

Then God turnedand gave them up to worship the host ofheavenas it is written in the book of the prophetsO yehouse of Israelhave ye offered to me slain beasts andsacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness

Yeaye took up the tabernacle of Molochand the star of yourgod Remphanfigures which ye made to worship themand I willcarry you away beyond Babylon.

Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wildernessas he had appointedspeaking unto Mosesthat he should makeit according to the fashion that he had seen.

Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesusinto the possession of the Gentileswhom God drave out beforethe face of our fathersunto the days of David

Who found favour before Godand desired to find a tabernaclefor the God of Jacob.

But Solomon built him an house.

Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands as saith the prophet

Heaven is my throneand earth is my footstoolwhat housewill ye build mesaith the Lordor what is the place of myrest

Hath not my hand made all these things

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and earsye doalways resist the Holy Ghostas your fathers didso do ye.

Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecutedandthey have slain them which shewed before of the coming of theJust Oneof whom ye have been now the betrayers andmurderers

Who have received the law by the disposition of angelsandhave not kept it.

When they heard these thingsthey were cut to the heartandthey gnashed on him with their teeth.

But hebeing full of the Holy Ghostlooked up stedfastlyinto heavenand saw the glory of Godand Jesus standing onthe right hand of God

And saidBeholdI see the heavens openedand the Son of manstanding on the right hand of God.

Then they cried out with a loud voiceand stopped their earsand ran upon him with one accord

And cast him out of the cityand stoned himand thewitnesses laid down their clothes at a young man s feetwhosename was Saul.
