I want this

As we reached the Inn, the sky suddenly turned black and rain began to pour down on us. I put the hood over my head, but it didn’t prevent the rain from soaking my hair. I ran inside while Merek tied up the horse and found it some food. The innkeeper, Millicent, prepared two rooms for us and asked us to come back in an hour for some food if we were hungry. I reached my room, sat down on the bed and took off my boots and cloak. I needed to dry my hair so I wouldn’t get sick. When I was done, I heard a knock at the door. I stood up and walked towards it.

The door opened slowly and I saw Merek standing further away
than usual.

“The food is ready if you are hungry.”

He was staring at my hair again, it seemed like he wanted to touch it, but he restrained himself. I walked out of the room and followed him to the table where the food was placed.

As I finished my food, I stood up, thanked Millicent and headed to my room. As I approached my door, I saw Merek walking towards his room as well. He closed the door slowly behind him, leaving it open a tiny bit. I hadn’t thought of thanking him for protecting me back at the pond, I thought it would be a good time to do so. I walked towards his door and peeked inside to see if he was already in bed. I saw him stand up wearing only his trousers, he
walked towards a water basin, picked up a wet towel and proceeded to wash his face, his neck and lastly his chest. He seemed to like the feeling of the warm water on his body. I stood back and he must have heard the floor cracking because he turned and looked right at me. I knocked softly on the door and waited. He opened the door and smiled.

“Is something wrong?”

I shook my head.

“I just wanted to say thank you for protecting me today.”

He nodded and added “it was Ulysses that did most of it.”

I walked inside the room and sat on the bed, he seemed puzzled and left the door open.

“Will you and Ulysses be accompanying me until Suffolk?” He walked towards me and sat down next to me on the bed.

“Do you want us to?”

I nodded and smiled.

“It is only one day longer for me so I don’t mind. I don’t have to be home just yet.”

I nodded and thanked him. As I stood up, he stood up as well and touched my hair.

“You really do have the most beautiful hair Gwendolynn.”

I blushed and smiled up at him.

“My father says that I got it from my mother.”

He smiled and let go of the strand he had between his fingers.

“Can I ask you a personal question?”

“You can ask but it doesn’t mean I will answer.”

He laughed but held his intense gaze on me.

“Do you hate me less now than when you first met me?”

I was taken aback by the question, of course it was true, the more time I spent with him the more I thought that the gossips were
mistaken about him. For once I wanted them to be.

“I have never hated you Merek.”

He took in the words I said and nodded.

“Can I ask another?”

I nodded this time.

“Who are you going to meet in Suffolk?”

“My brother, William.”

He seemed relieved that it was my brother and not another man.

“There is no one special in my life Merek. Or at least there wasn’t until a few days ago.”

He was really taken aback by my comment, even I was. I had not planned on saying it out loud. I felt the tension in the air as soon as the words left my mouth. Merek looked shy all of a sudden, it was a strange sight to behold. He noticed finally that he was wearing only his trousers and nothing else, he picked up his shirt and started to put it on.

I placed my hand on his shoulder and traced the water all the way down his chest until his muscular stomach. I felt him shiver under my touch and I pulled my hand back.

“I’m sorry Merek.”

When I looked in his eyes, I could tell that he wanted to do more but he was holding back again.

“You shouldn’t start something like that Gwendolynn. It is very hard to resist you.”

He closed his shirt and moved away from me. I could see the internal battle he was having with himself. I reached out and touched his hand.

“You said I would come willingly. Here I am.”

As soon as the words left my mouth, he was closing the gap between us and bringing his mouth down on mine. His kiss made me gasp for air, my body was tingling all over. He held my face between his hands and kissed me relentlessly until we both couldn’t breathe. He pushed me up against the door, it closed and he started leaving a trail of kisses down my neck until he got to my dress and looked at me, his eyes filled with something new.

“Take it off Merek.”

He lifted my dress off over my head and my chemise followed with it. He stepped back and admired me for a moment, before handing me my clothes and telling me to put them on.

“Merek, no. I want this. I want you.”

He scowled and sat down on the bed.

“You don’t want to be with a man like me. The gossips are right about me. I am no better than my father.”

I didn’t want to believe it, I knew he was lying. But why? I put on my clothes and walked out of the room quickly. How on earth was I going to get any sleep after that? I had never been touched by a man, but now that I had, I wanted to do it again. But not with just anyone, with Merek. I knew I was a foolish woman, he was a prince and I was a commoner. It didn’t stop me from loving him.
