Tarantula's fault

“Hi guys...woah...hi Alex. Mason have you been crying?”

“Is it that obvious?”

“Your cheeks are red. And her shirt’s wet.” Then he dumped his bags. “Sky are you okay now?”

“I’m fine as ever. I did try to kill myself though--”

“You what?!”

“Never mind, why are you here?”

“I’m staying here!”

“What?!” I shook my head. “What are you on about?”

“Tarantula.” He said going into my room. “I’m taking your room--”

“Lucas you can’t do that! That’s my room. You’re not staying here.”

“You can sleep on the sofa.” He said dumping his bags into my room.

Mason sighed. “Lucas did you kill the spider?”

“Tarantula. And no. I didn’t.”

Mason looked at him furious. “You saw a tarantula and you didn’t think of even killing it?!”

“What? You scared of something?”

“I’m not scared. Sky, do you mind if I stay--”

“You are both not staying here!” I said sharply.

“There’s a spider--”

“Tarantula.” Lucas cut in. “And I think I know how it got there.”

“Lucas where are you going?”

“To flush Noah’s head down the toilet and then Jordan’s.” He left, slamming the door.

“I’m not stopping him.”

“I am. Jordan didn’t mean it, probably.” I got up but Mason took my crutches. “I can hop.” I started hopping to the door.

“Why are you helping him? He ruined your life and still is! Do you like him?”

“No. I spoke to him today and he really regrets planning to kill you, well jump you, with his friends of course, and Noah. But Noah ditched last second because he actually cares about you.”

“So Noah planned to kill me--”

“But he ditched. I told Jordan to apologise to you.”

“I got a message from him but I didn’t...” He unlocked his phone and started to read the message. “I’m still mad at him. One message doesn’t change years of bullying.”

“But he really means it Mason.”

“Yeah? How are--”

“I told him about the whole thing, from Friday till today. He seemed really guilty and when I told him about Ella...”

His expression changed. “It’s fine.” He walked out the front door, slamming it shut in my face.

“I shouldn’t have mentioned Ella.” I hopped back to Alex.

“If it makes you feel better, Jordy’s uploaded a new video and...”

“What? Alex what?”

“Well...maybe you’d like to see it for yourself?”

I unlocked tiktok and went straight to Jordy’s account. I looked at the video. Dropped the phone and started screaming.

“Yesssss!!!!!” I hugged Alex. “He actually listened to me!!!!”

“Yes he did.” Alex smiled. “Stop screaming there’s neighbours.”

“I need to tell Gemma!!!!” I took out my phone and phoned her.

“Gemma.....Jordy hated my comment...” I lied.

“Awww. Sad luck. Y--”

“Fuck you Gemma! He made a fucking video of my comment!!!”

“What the fuck? Which video--”

“Yes the what the fuck relatable moments tiktok he did months ago!!!”

“Oh my goodness. Wow!!!” Gemma screeched. “This is like your dream come true--”

“He’s not even that famous!!” I heard Noah shout down the phone. He joined the call. Great.

“He is, he’s got millions of likes, you just can’t handle that. You’re jealous.” I heard Gemma tease. “You girlfriend is head over heels about him.”

“Sky is that true?”

“Gemma’s out of her mind. Don’t worry, I’ve just got eyes for you.”

“So you don’t like him?”

“Yes.” I lied. “No. I like him. And you. You know what I mean--”

“No. No one knows what you mean Lunar Skylar. No one.”

“Chill, I still love you. And that will never change. Don’t worry. Okay?”

Then he cut the call.

Then the door swung open. “So....” Lucas walked in with a black eye and a huge bump on his forehead.

“How did that happen?” Alex walked up to him.

“I got into a fight with a tarantula and Jordan.”

“Who won?”

“The tarantula and I ended up almost drowning in the bathtub. Oh, and I slid across the floor.”

“You still haven’t answered--”

“It was a tie. But then Mason--”

“Mason?!” I got up and hopped out the front door. “I’m going to the shops, don’t come looking for me!”

I kept hopping and went into the lift. I pressed the sixth floor button before any of them can come in and stop me. I hopped out the lift and knocked on Jordan’s front door. He opened it. I froze for a second.

“What happened to your face?”

“I slipped.”

“Yeah, and you somehow got a purple eye and a cut on your eye. Yeah.”

“Sky just go. Where are you going?”

“I’m exhausted.” I said sitting on the couch. “I’ve got a fucking stitch.”

“Good for you. Now go. I’ve got assignments to do and--”

“I’m staying in this apartment until you talk to me.”

“About what?”

“Why was Mason here?”

“He was mad at me. He just went all crazy and all that.”

“And?”

“And we kind of sort of ended up mad at each other. I told him something I shouldn’t have and he just went ballistic.”

“You didn’t fight did you?”

“No-ish. He did hit me though. I didn't. Are you wearing contacts?”

“No.”

“You are. Your eyes were brown and now green--”

“I have no clue but it just keeps changing every now and then, actually I think you’re the only one I’ve told. I tried to explain to Mason but I got interrupted.”

“Oh.” He paused. “I need to do my assignments--”

“Jordan. Listen to me, where’s Mason?”

“He left a few minutes ago saying he hates me and I’m a total something something.”

“Did he say where he was going?”

“He’s gone to the park--”

“In this weather and time?”

“Yes. I told him to not go but he told me to leave him alone.”

“He’s probably gone to calm himself down.”

“He always does that.” He sighed. “You should go look for him.”

“My leg is broken.”

“So? Get your crutches--”

“You’re coming with me.” I said standing up. I hopped towards him and wrapped my arm around his neck. “We’ll go get my crutches and then go to the park.”

“I don’t think--”

“I won’t stop.”

He rolled his eyes. “I’ll get a flash light. How about you go with your boyfriend? Or Gemma? Or--”

“Why? Are you scared?”

“You know I’m not. I just think maybe he doesn’t want to see me.”

“What else did you tell him?”

“Nothing....just apologised.”

“He’s obviously mad at you for that.” I rolled my eyes.

“What? Apologising--”

“He doesn’t like it sometimes if people apologise. He gets all....cranky and god knows what.”
