“Are the guys coming again?”

“Not all of them. Just...three of them.”

“Let me guess? Lorenzo, Daniel, Charles?”

“Yup.”

“Why isn’t everyone--”

“Because of Alex’s state.”

“Guys I’m still here.” Alex winced.

“You okay?”

“Yeah.”

“Okay. If you need anything, let me know. I’ll get the guys to go out the room. Okay?”

“Okay.” He mumbled.

“Lets watch a movie.” I said lightening up the mood.

“Okay, Lucy?” Alex asked.

“Okay.” Xander and I said at the same time.

We were half way across the movie when the guys came. “Hi guys.” Alex said wincing.

The guys sat next to him. “Are you okay now?”

“Better than ever.” Alex said sarcastically.

“You still dating the nerd?” Lorenzo asked.

Alex glared at him. “Nerd?!”

“What? She is one.”

“She’s just super smart.”

“You’re super smart and a nerd.” Daniel said.

“Guys stop bullying him.” Charles said.

“No, we’re only being--”

Then Alex started moaning. “Xander...”

“Guys, leave the room. Sky you too--”

“Xander quickly!!” Alex screamed at him. Xander practically threw us out the room and then locked the door.

“What’s up with Alex?” I asked.

“You don’t need to know!”

Then we heard Alex moaning. “Is he okay?” I asked.

“Sky just mind your business, he’s okay.”

Then I heard him crying. “He’s not okay--”

“Sky stop talking--”

Then Alex screamed. Now it was getting too uncomfortable. “I’m going in--”

“Don’t!” Lorenzo pulled me away. Then Alex screamed again and I could hear Xander telling him to be quiet.

“Guys he’s not okay!!”

“He is. Just leave him alone.” Daniel said. Then Alex stopped crying. After a few seconds, Xander opened the door. “You can come in.”

“Xander tell me what’s going on?”

“He’s got something on his thigh.” He said. The guys looked at him with that look. ‘Geez’.

“Xander are you lying to me?!”

“No. Why would I lie about something this serious?!”

“Okay.” Then I walked up to Alex. “You okay now?”

“I am. Lets all just forget about this.”

“I can hear you from China.” Lorenzo said.

“Seriously?!” We all said at the same time.

“Just saying.” He unpaused the TV. “Lucy is hot.”

I stared at Alex throughout the whole movie. He seemed like he was in a lot of pain. Then I realised something was leaking down his leg. I tugged at Xander’s sleeve. “His leg.” I whispered. He looked at me confused and back at his leg. “Okay.” He said going upstairs and coming back down with a cream. He put some gloves on and wiped the white pus trickling down his leg.

Alex started moaning and crying. “It hurts!!”

The guys were still watching the movie. “Alex, don’t worry, it’ll be over in a second.” Xander said as he put the cream on him. “And done.”

Alex kept crying. “It hurts a lot...”

“Don’t worry, in two days, you’ll be up and about. Okay?”

“Okay...” He mumbled as Xander went to throw the gloves away.

“You okay?” I asked.

“Yeah.” He wiped his tears.

“You look like you’re in a lot of pain...”

“I’ll order some pizza.” He said changing the topic.. He took his phone out and started ordering. After, he cut the call and winced.

“Hey, don’t cry...” I stroked his hair. “Does it hurt that bad?”

“He told you?”

“Yeah. Your thigh...he said something happened...”

“Yeah.”

“Alex, you okay now?” Xander sat down next to us.

“Yeah.”

“Guys, shhh.” Daniel hushed. We continued watching the movie and then the door knocked. I gasped. Alex held onto my hand. “Calm down, it’s just the pizza delivery guy.”

“Okay...”

Xander got up and answered the door. Pizza guy. “See?”

“I thought it was Patrick and the guys.”

“No. Patrick wouldn’t dare come. Not after last time.”

“Yeah.”

Then Xander picked the boxes up from the floor and brought them in locking the front door.

“Next movie, how about...Ammonite?” Alex suggested.

“Nerd.” We all said at the same time.

“I’m not a nerd. I’m a reasonably--”

“50 shades of grey--”

“Sky’s here. No.” Xander said.

“I’ll be seventeen soon!!”

“Still under eighteen.” Daniel said.

“So...San Andreas?” Lorenzo suggested.

“Okay.” We all said eating pizza.

After an hour or so, I saw Alex biting his lip and trying not to cry.

“Alex.” I whispered. “You okay?”

“Xander...” He said his voice cracking.

“Okay, lets take you upstairs. Daniel help.” Xander said. They both carried him upstairs and into Alex’s room.

Daniel came back downstairs and slumped onto the sofa. I looked at him anxiously. “He’ll be okay...right?”

“Yes. Stop worrying.”

“Okay.” I said. Then I heard Alex scream and cry. Lorenzo turned the volume louder.

“Guys you sure--”

“Sky, he’s fine.”

“Okay...”

“You need to stop worrying about him--”

Then there was a knock on the door. I gasped and grabbed onto Daniel who was sitting next to me. “Calm down.” He said. Then Lorenzo got up and went to the front door unlocking it.

“Hi.” Gemma came inside.

“Hi Gems.” I said as we walked up the stairs and into my--

I heard Alex moaning and crying. Then he started screaming. Gemma rushed up to the door and started knocking.

“Sky, he’s fine.” Xander called out.

“It’s Gemma--”

“Just go away for a sec.”

I pulled Gemma into my room and sat her down on the bed. “He’s been crying and all like that since yesterday.” I said sitting in front of her.

“What’s wrong with him?”

“Well, Xander hasn’t been specific but he said something about his thigh.”

“Oh...”

“Yeah...I’m really worried but the guys...they say he’s okay--”

Then I heard him scream again. I looked at Gemma anxiously.

“Lets call Alex 1.1?” I suggested.

“Yeah.” She said taking her phone out. “Hi Alex...”

“Hi, what’s up?”

“It’s--”

Then Alex screamed again. Then he started sobbing. “Alex, just come--”

“I’ll call Esmeralda and Harley. I’m at work right now. Okay?”

“Yeah. Thanks.” She said cutting the call.

Gemma looked at me stressed. “Gems..he’s also got a syringe.”

“Is it that bad?”

“He can’t walk. Not properly...he keeps falling.”

“That’s terrible--”

Then the door knocked and I gasped. Gemma hugged me tightly. “Don’t cry...”

Someone opened the door and I heard Esmeralda and Harley.

“Oh, they’re here.” I pulled out. Gemma smiled at me. “You’re really strong you know.”

“Yeah..” I stood up. “Come on.”

We walked out the room and saw Esmeralda walking up the stairs with Harley.

“When Alex called, I thought she meant an emergency--”

Then we heard Alex moaning and crying. “Alex stop crying...” I heard Xander say.

Then Esmeralda and Harley rushed up to Alex’s door. “Open up,”

“Esmeralda?”

“Xander just open the door.” Harley said.

“Is anyone with you?”

“Sky and Gemma--”

“Tell them to go away.”

“Guys, go.” Esmeralda shooed us.

Then Alex screamed again. We went back into my room and then I heard gasps and then worried voices.

“Alex...” I heard Harley say. “You okay?”

Then I heard him moaning.

“Xander are you supposed to call an ambulance--”

“No, he’s got medication. We’re supposed to give him this.”

“Oh. How long will it take for him to get--”

Then he screamed again and started moaning and sobbing.

“Two days time he’ll be fine.” Xander said. “Alex, I’m gonna inject it. Okay?”

“Nonononono!”

“Alex, listen to Xander.” Esmeralda said.

“No!”

“Alex, come on. It’ll make you better.” Harley said.

“No!!”

“Come on...”

Then I heard Alex crying.

“Guys pin him.”

“Get off me!!” Alex yelled. Then I heard him crying and then he screamed.

“Oh my god...” I bit my nails.

“He’ll be fine--”

Then he screamed again. This time I panicked. “Maybe we should call an ambulance?”

“You know what? Lets go cook something.” Gemma suggested as we walked down the stairs. Once we reached the bottom of the stairs I realised the guys were gone. Gone?

Then Gemma’s phone bleeped. She read the message. “Okay, I’m gonna go, love you, bye.” She kissed my cheek and ran off.

“Thanks for coming...?” I said as she left the house. Then Esmeralda and Harley started walking down the stairs.

“Is he okay?” I asked worriedly.

“He’ll be okay.” Harley said. “Right Emmy?”

“Yes. He’ll be okay.” Esmeralda said.

“We’ll come later to check on yous.” Harley said.

“At the mean time...don’t worry yourself to death.” Esmeralda said.

Once they left the house, I started pacing around, hearing Alex’s sobs just broke my heart. Then I heard him scream. What’s going on with him....?! My heart was beating rapidly and--

I quickly pressed the alarm button on my pocket alarm and then the alarms Xander had put around the rooms went off. Xander quickly ran down the stairs and saw me sobbing on the floor. Then he quickly switched the alarm off and knelt beside me.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” He asked lifting my chin up.

“He’s going to be okay...?”

“Yes he is...” He hugged me.

“I want to see him...”

“Come on then.” He said helping me up.

“What’s wrong with him?”

“Well, since last winter, he’s been getting some problems with his left thigh...” He said as we went into Alex’s room. I saw Alex crying and hiding his tears with his hands.

“Alex...” I walked up to him. “You’re okay...?”

“Yeah.” He wiped his tears. “What happened?”

“I had a small panic attack.”

“Why?”

“I was scared for you...you seem like you’re in pain...and...it’s not everyday people see you cry...”

“Stop worrying. Come on.” He patted at the space beside him. I laid down next to him. “What’s really wrong?”

“My thigh’s been acting up. Nothing..” He winced. “It’ll be over soon.”

“Alex..” Xander put some gloves on. “Just one more for the next hour or so, okay?”

“No...” He sobbed. I held onto his hand. “Come on. It’s just one, and then you can spend the next sixty or more minutes in peace?”

“Yeah...”

“Alex, if you take this...you’ll be fine until four.”

“Okay..” He untied his robe and looked at his thigh.

“It looks really red...and..what’s with the bump?” I asked looking at it.

“That’s where I’m injecting it.” Xander said holding the syringe.

“No...” Alex tried to sit up but couldn’t. “Xander I don’t want to!!”

“Hey, listen. It’ll only be a scratch.” I said. “Alex, did you know, Leah came over half an hour ago,”

“What..?”

“Yeah, she came and asked if you were okay--”

Then Xander injected him--

“Owwwwwww!!!”

“Hey, hey. Calm down.” Xander hugged him. “Alex calm down..” Alex burst into tears and started moaning.

“Alex, don’t worry, it’s done now...” I said stroking his hair.

He still kept crying. “It hurts...”

“Just wait a few seconds...” Xander said. “Come on, stop crying..”

About ten seconds later, he’d stopped crying. “It doesn’t hurt anymore..” Alex exhaled.

“You okay now?” Xander asked.

“Yeah.”

“As the hours go by, the lesser the pain gets.”

“Yeah...” Then he turned to me. “Let me guess...she never came.”

“Yeah, just had to distract you.”

“Thanks..”

“Are you peeing your pants?”

“Shut up will you!” He blushed.

“I’m only joking. Does your bladder not work?”

“It doesn’t. Not properly.”

“Oh...”

“Yeah...”

“I’m gonna let Alex know you’re okay now, and then the troublesome lawyers.” Xander said leaving the room.

“Okay.” I said.

“You were really worried...I’m sorry we didn’t...talk to you properly...”

“I was loosing my mind...Alex you really scared me..”

“I’m sorry..”

“Can you move though?”

“A bit.”

“Okay.” I said. “XANDER!!!”

Xander ran up the stairs bursting into the room, he rushed up to Alex. “What’s wrong?!”

“Sky.” He said.

“Xander, can you stay here? I’m going downstairs to the kitchen.” I said getting up and leaving the room. I went down the stairs and into the kitchen. I need to cook...PAELLA. Fun fact, I speak fluent Spanish. No cap.

“Hey, Xander, Alex, I made you something.” I said carrying three plates in one tray. Then I opened his door with my right foot and came inside.

“Sky you’ll drop those.” Xander said helping me.

“I cooked it! I’m pretty sure I can carry them.”

“You spent a good three hours in the kitchen.” Xander said as I sat down next to Alex. He was sleeping.

“Let him eat before he starts crying again.” Xander said and then helped him sit up. “Have some food.” He said softly to Alex.

“I’m not hungry--”

“Alex, you need to eat. If you don’t, you’ll get sick, and if you get sick, you’ll need to go hospital, and when you go hospital, you’ll be seen by a million doctors, and after, Alex will come and speak to you, and in that time, one of her patients might die, then she’ll get depressed as she’ll loose her job, then she’ll get sent to prison, then she’ll hate you, and love you again, and choose law as her next--”

“OKAY!!”

“Good.” I smiled. “I cooked it.”

“It smells nice.” Then he tasted it. I squirted some lemon juice around and he seemed to like the food. “You can cook really well.”

“But of course, I’m better.” Xander said eating his plate.

“No, that’s a lie. I’m clearly--”

“No. I am.” Alex said. “And you really can cook...remember that point in your life when you wanted to become a cook?”

“Yeah.” I smiled sadly looking down at my plate. “And then your brother had to come and squash my dreams...made me feel so fucking insecure.”

“Hey, don’t get upset. You could still--”

“No point now, I love medicine.”

“Yeah, but don’t you love to cook?”

“Medicine is safe. What if people don’t like my cooking?”

“Listen, your cooking is amazing...”

“Yeah..course it is..”

“Stop. I’m serious. You’re a brilliant cook.”

“Xander doesn’t think so does he.”

“No Sky...” He took the deepest breath ever. “You’re better than me.” He mumbled.

I smiled. “I am?!”

“Yes. Lets never mention this again--”

“I can’t believe it...”

“Yeah well yeah.”

“Guys...about the pregnancy...”

“The guy was released. That idiot was smart enough to clear all proof he saw you for an ultra sound or the fact that he got you an ‘appointment’ for a surgery.” Alex said. Then he moaned and started crying. Xander quickly got up and went up to us.

“Alex, finish your food quickly. Sky, get me a leter water bottle.”

I quickly ran out the room and into the kitchen carrying a leter of water and ran back up into Alex’s room. I saw Xander feeding him.

“Come on, eat.” Xander said as Alex ate. After a while, he’d finished eating and I quickly gave Xander the bottle. Xander helped him drink, after about a few moments, the bottle was emptied. Xander took out the syringe and I quickly sat next to Alex. “Alex, look, it’ll only hurt bit.”

“Can I hold onto you?”

“Yeah. Come on.”

Then Xander injected the medicine into him and he screamed holding me tightly and bursting into tears.

“Alex come on...it’s okay now.” He said. Then he took out a bag. “Come on, keep going.” He said as Alex continued peeing.

“Almost full. You done yet?”

“No...”

“You’ll get better soon, okay?”

“Okay...”

“Done?”

“Yeah.”

“Owwww!!” Alex burst out crying as the bump in his thigh started leaking.

“Hey, hey. Don’t worry...”

Alex kept crying. “It hurts...”

“Okay now?” Xander wiped the white pus.

“Yeah...”

“Come on. Lets get you washed, and then you can sleep. Okay?”

“Okay.” Alex said.

“I need to call Alex...” Xander said unlocking his phone. “Alex--”

“Is he okay?!”

“Yeah, are you home?”

“Yeah.”

“Good. I need you to come help me wash him.”

“On my way.” Then she cut the call. Xander turned to us. “Alex, stop worrying.” Xander helped him sit up. “Stop freaking out.”

“Okay...”

Then the door knocked. Alex held onto my hand. “It’s only Alex.” He said as Xander left the room. “Calm down. Just Alex. Okay?”

“Y..yes.”

“Hey, they won’t hurt you.”

“O..okay.”

“Breathe.”

Then Alex came in. “It’s just me Sky.” She said walking over to us. “You’re still scared aren’t you?”

“Yeah.”

“They won’t hurt you. You’ve got them here and an alarm so you’re safe.” Then she wiped Alex’s tears. “Lets get you cleaned up quickly. How are you though?”

“In a lot of pain.”

“I brought some pills. They’ll help.” She said placing them down on the bed side cupboard. Then she stood up. “Xander.”

They both helped him to the bathroom and sighed. “Sky, out. And get some water for his pills. Yeah?”

“Yeah.” I said as they locked the door. I went into the kitchen and poured some water into a cup. I climbed up the stairs and into Alex’s room. I fixed his bed and sighed as I set the water down next to the pills. I laid down for a while until I saw them carrying Alex back in.

“Hey, you okay?” I asked sitting up.

“So long as you haven’t touched my stuff.”

“No. Just staring at the window.”

“I oddly believe that.” He said as Xander helped him lie down. Then he gave him the pills.

“Alex has gone.” Xander told me, stroking Alex’s hair.

“I’m really tired.” Alex mumbled giving the empty glass to Xander and closing his eyes. Soon enough he was fast asleep.

“He’s really exhausted.” I sighed.

“Yeah...just feel bad for him...”

“He looks so sweet when he’s asleep.”

“Always.”

“You’re cute too.”

“Erm no. I’m not a softie--”

“Blah blah blah.”

He laughed. Then I did. “Alex really is the best...” I sighed.

“Imma go buy a gift for him.”

“What?”

“Yeah. I’m gonna go, keep an eye on him--”

“Wait!!” I said before he left the room.

“If anything happens, take the syringe,” He filled the medicine inside it. “And inject it to him. If he won’t shut up, find a way. You can’t knock him out. It’s risky.”

“Before you go, my credit card, it’s in the living room, I want you to spend 10k on some sort of jewelry. Or multiple. Don’t look at me like that. I’m serious Xander. Please...just for him...”

“Fine!”

“Thanks..I said 10k not £10, okay?”

“Okay.”

As soon as he left I sighed and looked at Alex. Then I laid down properly and stroked his cheek. I kept stroking until I gradually fell asleep.

“SKY!!” Alex 1.2 shook me. “My thigh!!”

“Okay, erm...close your eyes.” I said moving his robe slightly.

“Why? W--”

Then I injected it in him. He screamed in pain but after a few seconds, he’d calmed down. He smiled at me. “Thanks.”

“No problem. Now sleep.” I said stroking his cheek again. After a while I myself started getting sleepy, then I saw Xander. He came into the room with a small bag, and showed me a watch, not just any watch, a Rolex...but it was a beautiful one..

“It costed £10,500.”

“Not surprised, look at those diamonds..wow...and baby blue...”

“And then I got him another Rolex. This one, it’s light green with diamonds too, £14,000.” He said opening a white coated--

“WOW!!!”

He opened another box. “Yeah, and then six rings, summing up to about £8,600.”

“JEEZ!!!”

“And then I got him three chains, £5,000.”

“Wow...that’s a lot...”

“Yeah but he means a lot to me and seeing him in pain...just makes me feel so...worried...”

“Same...he’s so exhausted...” I said as Xander took out all the boxes and set them beside Alex.

We talked for a bit until Alex woke up from a sharp pain. “Xander?”

“I’m here, how bad does it hurt?”

“A lot.” He sobbed.

“I’ll inject it again, okay?”

“Nonononono!!”

“Hey, it’ll be okay.” I reassured.

“No!”

“Sky, I’ll pin him down, you inject.” Xander said quickly as he pinned Alex down. I quickly took the syringe, ignoring Alex’s cries and screams, and injected it in. He cried for a few seconds until the pain had calmed down.

“I’m sorry.” I whispered to him.

“It’s fine.” He ran his fingers through his hair.

“We got you gifts.” Xander said showing him the twelve boxes.

“That’s a lot...” He said as Xander helped him sit up. Xander gave him the first box. “Open it.”

Alex opened it and gasped. “Rolex!!”

“Yes, and another one.” Xander said opening the second box for him. “Try them both on.”

I helped Alex put them on and then he smiled. “Guys...” Then he frowned. “Guys these are so expensive!!”

“Don’t worry--”

“Xander, look, it’s so expensive. Sky...”

“Don’t worry.” I said. “It looks nice don’t it.”

“Yeah..thanks..”

That’s not all! I got you three necklaces.” Xander said opening three boxes. Alex looked at them in pure happiness. “They look really expensive--”

“Stop worrying, and then six rings. Silver.”

“That’s so cool.” Alex said putting all six on, three in each hand.

“You look so cool.” I said looking at his hands. “They look so cool.”

“Yeah.” He smiled.

“You like the watches?”

“I love them!”

“Good.” I said.

“I’ll fix the time.” Alex said.

“I got a class now.” Xander said opening his laptop.

“So do I.” I said sitting across the room and opening my laptop.

“Alex?”

“I’ll try..” He said opening his laptop.

“Good.” Xander said leaving the room. “Call me if anything’s wrong.”

After I’d finished logging in and clicking on the link, I saw I was the first one. Lucky. “Hi Skylar.”

“Hi sir.”

“You got your things ready?”

“Yes.”

“Religious study, Islam, book?”

“Yes.”

“Good. Achievement point.”

I smiled. Then Mason popped up. “Hi Mase.”

“Sky, is Alex okay?” He asked.

“Yeah. Hi Sky, missed you--”

“I just saw you five minutes ago.”

“Still.”

He rolled his eyes. “Sir, how long is this class?”

“Normal 60 minutes,”

“Oh, cool.”

Soon enough, everyone joined. Before I knew it, there were 19 faces in my computer.

“Okay, today’s topic is...what is Islam? Ruby, you’re up.”

“Terrorism.”

The class gasped. The teacher looked furious. “Excuse me?!”

“No like, ISIS. They’re terrorists who claim that they’re muslims but really Islam is the religion of peace.”

“Oh.” Everyone said at the same time.

“I made out with a muslim twice.” She smirked.

The class erupted in laughter and I blushed.

“Ruby that is not necessary.” Sir said sternly. “Anyone wanna read chapter 2? Winley you go.”

Winley started reading from the text book.

Then I realised Alex was in a lot of pain. I saw him biting his lip.

“Alex you okay?” Miss asked from his laptop.

“Yeah, just...” He moaned and burst out crying. “Xander come here.”

“Okay.” Seconds later Xander came into the room.

“Okay, Jordan you’re up.”

Then Jordan started reading. I looked at Xander who was getting the syringe ready. I muted myself as I knew Alex was bound to cry. “Miss I need to...go...” Alex sobbed muting himself and turning the camera off.

“Don’t!” Alex shouted at Xander. “It hurts!!”

“Alex, stop crying. It’ll hurt for a few seconds--”

“Nonononono!!!”

“Alex calm down. Sky, give him the injection, I’ll pin him.” Xander said.

“GET OFF ME!!!” Alex cried. “Sky please don’t--”

Then I injected him. “I’m sorry...”

He started screaming and I instantly felt so bad. He started crying and after ten seconds or so, he stopped. “The pain’s gone.”

“That wasn’t hard was it.” I said going back to his desk.

“I’ll get a new bag.” Xander said leaving the room.

“How bad does your leg hurt?”

“Out of then, infinity.”

“Do you want to drink anything? How about coke?”

“No..”

“Come on, if you don’t eat or drink, you’ll be in more pain. I’ll bring some coke and doughnuts.”

“No--”

“Can’t hear you.” I said going down the stairs. Then into the kitchen taking out three doughnuts and a leter bottle of coke. Then I went back upstairs and to Alex. I sat crossed leg next to him. “Here you go.”

Then he muted himself and turned the camera off. “Thanks..”

“No problem. Now, eat.”

“Okay...are you gonna keep staring at me?”

“What do you expect me to do?”

“Not stare at me.”

“Hey, I’m just looking out for you, yeah?” I kissed his forehead. “I hate seeing you like this. You’re in so much pain..”

“Yeah..want some?”

“No. Wanna do some shopping?”

“You got class.”

“No, I mean online.”

“You got class.”

“I could ditch it. Say--”

“No. Studies . Now go class.”

“Okay. Need help drinking?”

“I’ll be fine. I’ll call you if you need anything.”

“Okay, good.”

I went back to class and sat down. “Sorry.”

“You’ve got extra work to do.”

“No need. I know everything. Memorized the whole Quran, translation in English too.”

“BRAG!!” Someone said.

“No, just saying.”

“Okay, lets continue. Page 55.” Sir said. “Oscar you read.”

Oscar started reading when out of nowhere my eyes started flickering.

“Sky did you take your pills today?” Mason asked.

“N...no..”

“She’s having a seizure.” Noah panicked. “Sky I’m coming.”

Then I dropped onto the floor my head landing on the floor. I tried to breathe but couldn’t. I started moaning and I could hear the worried voices.

“Is someone there?!”

“She can’t fucking breathe!!” Alex said struggling to get up. “Sky don’t worry...just calm down” He heaved. He started trying to crawl. “Sky turn on your back quickly!!”

“What’s going on?”

“I can’t move my legs!!”

The door knocked. “Fucks sake Xander locked the door!!” He hissed. “Sky keep breathing.”

“Is she okay?!” Sir panicked. Then I could hear everyone talking nervously.

I started suffocating. “A..A..Alex...”

I could hear him crying. “Sky, calm down..” He sobbed struggling. “I’m sorry Sky, just keep breathing.”

“Alex stop crying. Is she okay?!” Sir asked panicked.

“No!”

Then I heard the door bust open. Then footsteps running upstairs.

“Daniel?” Alex said.

Then he turned me over. “You okay?”

I saw Noah and Mason kneeling beside me. “Get her oxygen tank.” Noah said. Mason hurried out the room and came back with it. He knelt down beside me and put the mask on. “She’s used almost all of it.” He said. Alex burst out crying.

“Alex, let me help you up.” Daniel said. “Your leg, it’s swollen now!!”

“I know...”

“Stop crying...please...” Noah said.

Daniel picked him up but he screamed in pain. “Alex, Alex, come on. Don’t cry.” He patted his cheek. “Hey, stop crying...”

Noah shut my laptop.

“Alex...” Noah walked up to him. “Wanna tell me what’s wrong?”

“My thigh.” He winced as he moved his robe a bit. Noah looked at it and then looked back at Alex. Then he hugged him. “You’re in a lot of pain...”

“Don’t worry...” Alex said. Then he burst into tears and started screaming.

“Hey, stop. Don’t cry.” Mason knelt down beside him.

I took the mask off and sat down properly. They looked at me shocked.

“Sky you sat?” Mason looked at me.

“Y..y..yeah.”

“Okay can you stand up?” Noah asked.

I looked at my hands and tried standing up. I did and then I reached for the table almost falling. My pills were there. Xander had brought them before but I forgot to take them. Then I shoved them in my mouth and looked at the glass of water he’d put beside me. I washed it down quickly regardless the fact that the water was going down my shirt and walked over to Alex’s bed laying down. Then I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

“Sky how are you now?” Alex asked stroking my cheek.

“Okay.” I mumbled.

“I was gonna loose you...you know that...right?” He burst into tears. “I saw you there, struggling to breathe...and you called for my help but I couldn’t...I tried...please forgive me..I’m sorry--”

“I forgive you. It wasn’t even your fault. It was mine. I forgot to take my pills.”

“I’m sorry...”

“Alex were you drinking vodka?”

“No.” He lied.

“I can smell it, why would you drink?”

He blushed. “I’m not a kid anymore.”

“Alex...”

“Sky leave it.”

“Alex--”

“Just drop it!!” He shouted.

I looked down at my hands. Only trying to help. Don’t listen then fine.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to shout at you...” He said wiping my tears. “I’m sorry.”

“Alex I’m only looking out for you.”

“I drank...a bit...”

“No...”

“Sky I felt terrible okay. Imagine knowing that I could’ve lost you and I couldn’t do anything?!”

“Stop getting angry. Calm down.”

“I saw you suffocating and I couldn’t even help!!”

“Don’t you dare drink it again!” I yelled snatching the bottle off him.

“I feel so fucking shit.”

“....This isn’t just about me is it...”

“Leah. The guys were saying some annoying stuff...she overheard and ended stuff with me...”

“Alex....”

“It’s fine. Can you get me a bag?”

“Yeah,” I said reaching under the bed and taking a bag out.

“I’m gonna throw this in the bin.” I said as he finished.

“Okay, hurry.” He said as I walked down the stairs. The door knocked. I froze. Then went over to the window. Oh. It was a boy.

I went over to the door and opened it. He smiled. “Hi and...” He pointed at the bag.

“Oh god.” I blushed. “Sorry. I’ll be back.” I said going into the kitchen and throwing it in the bin. Then I washed my hands. I went back to the front door and smiled. “That wasn’t mine.”

“Guessed.”

Then I realised and he probably too. “IT’S YOU?!”

“Oscar.” I said.

“Sky.”

“Thank you for saving Cleo.” I hugged him bursting into tears.

“Covid restrictions.” He said patting my back. “Is she okay?”

“Yeah.” I pulled out. “She’s across the street with my boyfriend.”

“You don’t live together?”

“He wants to but...I’ve got adjustment disorder and I’m used to sharing a room with my best friend Mason..”

“Oh.”

“But eventually he will move in with me.” Then I hugged him again. “Thank you so much.”

“No problem. Just doing what any good human would do.”

“No one listened to me...and you came along and...saved her...”

“Yeah...I have been feeling so proud of myself since then.”

“You should be.”

“My...my mum made me give these to you guys.” He sighed.

“What?”

“We’re your new neighbors.”

“Oh, cool!”

“And I go Riverspark now.”

“Really?”

“Yeah.”

Then Alex screamed. “Jeez is everything okay?”

“Yeah--”

He kept screaming. “You know what, I will catch you later, I just need to go, and fix him up--”

“You sure?”

“Yeah. Erm...I will see you later, I’ll bring something over.”

“You don’t have to--”

“Yeah I do and erm...do you live with your parents?”

“Sister and brother.”

“Oh...”

“Yeah.”

“I need to go...I’ll pop round later.”

“Okay, bye.”

I quickly ran up the stairs and into Alex’s room. I grabbed the syringe and injected him before he can do anything. He cried for a few moments and then he stopped. I quickly hugged him. “You okay now?”

“Yeah.”

“Good...” I then showed him the box full of cupcakes. Chocolate and vanilla with sprinkles. “Have some.” I said helping him sit up. Then I placed the box on his lap. “Never knew you could cook that fast...or did you buy--”

“Our new neighbors.”

“That’s really nice. We need to bake something too for them.”

“Yeah...”

“So, did the whole family come?”

“Nope. Just the boy, Oscar.”

“Oscar?”

“Yeah. He lives with his sister and brother.”

“How old is he?”

“Last time I checked he was sixteen.”

“Last time? You know him?”

“Yeah...” Then I smiled. “He’s the one who saved Cleo.”

“W..what?”

“Remember? Oscar, the guy who broke the guy’s neck? Black eye? Karate--”

“HOLY SHIT!!”

“Yeah...I can’t believe it too.”

“That’s crazy...”

Then he winced. “I’ll be okay, won’t I?”

“Yeah. You will...”

“I’m sorry...I didn’t mean to shout at you...”

“It’s fine. You didn’t mean to. Well you did because you were pissed.”

“Yeah...I’m tired...”

“Sleep. Come on.”

“Okay.” He said closing his eyes. “You gonna keep staring at my pretty face?”

“Sorry.” I blushed. “I wasn’t..” I got up quickly.

“I was only joking.”

“Thank god.”

Then my eye caught something. The new neighbor. I’m guessing the sister. “Alex, are you staring at her?!”

He blushed. “No.”

“You fancy her?”

“No.” He lied.

“You do!”

“No, Sky get out.”

“You get to see her 24/7.” Then I walked up to the window.

“Sky!!” Alex screeched. I opened the window and popped my head out. “HELLO?!”

The girl jumped startled. “I’m Sky.”

“Hi, I’m Erica!”

“How old are you?”

“Eighteen.”

“When is your birthday?”

“Personal?”

“My brother’s 18, his birthday is on the 26 of December.”

“Oh! I’m on the 28th.”

“That’s so cool!!”

“Yeah!!”

Then I saw Alex tossing uncomfortably. I quickly rushed over to him. “Alex you okay?”

“No but this happens when my leg’s getting better.” He heaved.

“Your leg's leaking, Alex are you sure you’re okay?”

“Yeah.” He burst into tears.

“Is he okay?” The girl asked.

“Yeah. Ish.”

“Do you want me to come over?”

“No, it’s fine. Thanks.”

“No problem.” She said closing her window.

“Alex, don’t worry. It’s okay.” I whispered. Then I heard Xander. I realised he’d connected his phone to the blue tooth speaker and was singing. Blueberry faygo. I was trying not to laugh and so was Alex.

Then I heard him coming up the stairs. He knelt down beside us and then saw the cupcakes. He picked two up. “Sky did you make them?” He asked already eating it. both at a time.

“Erm...the new neighbors.”

“Oh...”

“Yeah.”

“Alex how are you?”

“I’m getting better.”

“Okay...and about Leah..we’re sorry...”

“It’s fine..I got my eyes on someone else.”

“Who?”

Then he nodded to the window. The blinds were closed. “Is it a girl?”

“Yeah. She’s eighteen. Two days younger than me.”

“That’s good.”

“I’m going to sleep myself. I’m tired.” Xander said laying down next to Alex. “Sky, you too.”

“I’ll sleep in my room.” I said. Then remembered. “I need to bake some cookies.”

“You don’t--”

“Hey, it’s fine.” I said going down the stairs and into the kitchen.

“Hi, it’s me again.” I said as I stood on Oscar’s door step. Oscar opened the door.

“Hey, you didn’t have to--”

“It’s fine.”

“You cooked it?”

“Yeah.”

“They look and smell amazing.”

“Thanks.”

“You planning on being a chef?”

“No. Am I good?”

Then he picked one up and tasted it. He smiled. “You’re talented. You should become a cook.”

“Thanks but I’m more into medicine.”

“That’s cool.”

“Yeah...I need to go sleep but..yeah. Night?”

“Night. And thanks.”

“No problem.” I said going back into the house and up the stairs to my room. Mason was already asleep. I quickly put my pyjamas on and then I saw Oscar. I waved and so did he. So cool!! He picked a piece of paper up and wrote something down. Then showed me.

Night Alexandra daddario

Then I took out a piece of paper and quickly wrote, NOT! Night Zac Effron!

Then I showed him and we waved again. Then he wrote, Bye but I’m not short!!!

I picked Cleo up and showed him her. He smiled and looked at the gap between our houses. Can I come? He wrote.

Yes. How?

Watch me.

Then he opened his window and stood on his window sill and stepped on mine, crawling inside my room. I showed him Cleo and let him hold her. He smiled. “She’s amazing.”

“Yeah. Thank you so so much!!”

“Stop thanking me. It’s nothing.” He said. Then I saw the glimpse in his eye.

“You’re a hero...”

“I am?”

“Yeah...you really are...” I said.

“Thanks.”

Then I heard Alex crying. “He’ll be okay.” I said. “Quickly go.”

“Okay.” He said. Then he handed her over to me. “Night Daddario.”

“Night Efron.” I said as he climbed out and back to his room. I watched him for a second and then laid down on my bed falling asleep.

I woke up and saw Efron cleaning his room. “Morning Efron!” I said opening the window.

“Morning Daddario.”

“Are you in my class?”

“Miss Vivian?”

“You’re in my class?!”

Xander came into my room completely shirtless. “Sky, hurry up...oh...it’s Oscar?”

“Yeah. Put a shirt on!!”

“Sky, you need to go eat and wash.” Xander said. “Alex is getting better. He didn’t have a bad pain since, eleven last night.”

“That’s good.” I said.

“Bye Daddario.” Efron said.

“Bye Effron.” I said as he closed his window. I turned to Xander.

“Effron?”

“He said I looked like Alexandra Diddario--"

"Finally I'm not the only one that thinks that!"

"And he looks a bit like Zac Effron.”

“Yeah, he does.”

“But tall version,”

“Yeah. Breakfast, I made your favorite cereal and milkshake. And your medication.”

“Thanks.” I said as I went to the toilet.

“Hey, morning.” Alex said sitting down on the sofa. I sat next to him drinking my smoothie and then I saw Xander sit next to me.

“How are you doing?” Xander asked.

“I’m fine.”

“No I mean...how do you feel after giving birth?” He asked.

“Okay why?”

“Just saying...Noah told us..”

“Huh?”

“About Victoria.” Alex said.

“Don’t know what you’re talking about.” I said getting up, but Alex pulled me back down.

“You can tell us..” Xander said.

“There’s nothing to tell--”

“Sky you’re talking to a ghost!” Alex said.

“Don’t speak to her like that!” I snapped.

They looked at me, clearly freaked out. “Guys, she’s just my imagination.”

“Sky...”

“Lets forget this--”

“No. This is serious.”

“Fuck off will you!”

“You’ve got your therapist appointment in twenty minutes. Get your laptop.”

I rolled my eyes and went upstairs but then I heard something.

“She needs to be checked out.” Xander said.

“How exactly are we supposed to get her to see a doctor?”

“We’ll trick her?”

“And how?”

“We’ll think of something. Until then..we just need to play it cool.”

“Yeah...”

I sat on the staircase and started crying. She’s just my imagination! She’s someone I can confide in...but again, that’s crazy.

“Sky?” Xander called out. I quickly ran up the stairs and brought my laptop downstairs into the living room.

“Have you been crying?” Alex asked.

“No.” I lied.

“Oh.” They both said.

I logged onto my laptop and...started my ‘stupid therapy session.’ Urgh.

I went into Alex’s room and found Xander talking to Alex about something. “Guys, if you want me to see a doctor, I’m okay with it.” I said. They looked at me surprised. “I over heard your conversation before.”

“Is that why you were crying?” Xander asked.

“Yeah. Even if I do go see a doctor. There’s no point as it’s just my imagination, like a diary which no one can read.”

“Okay. We’ll book an appointment soon. Thanks..” Alex smiled.

“No problem.”

“That’s really brave of you...you know that...right?” Xander sat me down next to him.

“I know.” I said. “Guys do you know where Mason’s at?”

“The guys, they’re having a...” Alex froze. Then looked at Xander. He too had the same expression.

“He’s just staying over night.” Xander said.

“Can I call him? I haven’t spoken to him the whole day.” I sighed.

“Sky maybe you should get some sleep.” Alex said. Then I realised something. “What are you hiding from me?”

“Huh?” They both said at the same time.

“Twin sync, now give me the phone Xander...” I said. “Please..”

“Sky it’s better if you--”

Then I snatched it off him and went to recents clicking on Mason’s number. “Hi Mase. Where are you?”

“We’re having a sleepover.”

“Now?”

“Yeah. Sorry we didn’t invite you earlier.”

“How long did it start?”

“In the morning.”

“Oh...”

“Yeah. Wanna come now?”

“It’s nine pm. Too late?”

“No?”

“You sound tired. Are you guys asleep?”

“Yeah. We’ve had a hell of a day. My chest is aching Aiden shot me three times in the chest. He’s got really good aim. He’s the new captain.”

“Oh, you went paint balling and Aiden’s the new captain? I thought I was the captain...Mason you know I’ve always been the best--”

“Sky, stop over reacting. Listen, Aiden is really good. And since you rarely come--”

“You don’t invite me.”

He fell silent. “Gemma’s calling me. I need to go.”

“Can I still come?”

“It’s night already. Night.”

“Whatever.” I said cutting the call. Then I tucked my hair behind my ear and rubbed the back of my neck. “Erm, I should get some sleep.” My voice cracked.

“Sky--”

“Alex, I’m fine.” I lied going into my room. I laid on my bed putting the blanket over my head and bursting into tears.

“Daddario?” I heard Effron say. I sat up. Then I opened the window and he came inside. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” I lied.

“Something’s up.”

“My friends. They always forget to invite me...as usual.”

“Ouch. What happened?”

“Well, they went paint balling without me. Like always, and then they have a sleep over. My best friend Mason even ‘forgot’ to invite me.” I sobbed. “Why do they keep ‘forgetting’ to invite me?”

“Ever since I met you...you’ve been depressed...I can see it in your eyes. Even if you don’t say anything...I know...because my sister was once depressed...covered it up with fake smiles...”

“That’s really sad..”

“Yeah...so what are you up to?”

“Sleep. You?”

“I’m trying to make new friends.”

“Well, I’m your friend.”

“You are?”

“Yes silly.”

“So...hi friend.”

“Hi friend.”

“Stop looking so sad...don’t you have other friends?”

“It’s...not really...I mean..Oscar--”

“Me?”

“No, another one. He’s been with me since the beginning of primary. Year 3.”

“That’s cool.”

“I invited him over earlier.”

“Yeah?”

“You know...” Then something popped into my head. “Would your brother and sister mind if you came for a sleep over?”

“When?”

“Tomorrow?”

“They wouldn’t mind.”

“I’ll invite Oscar too.”

“Okay. Any other friends you have?”

I blushed. “Not really.”

“So only fake friends?”

“They’re not fake...just forgetful.”

“We both know the truth. I need to go. Catch you later?”

“Yeah. Be here, tomorrow at twelve?”

“Okay.”

“Night Effron.” I said as he went into his room.

“Night Daddario.” He said closing his window.
