A New Beginning?

The cold winter breeze played with her hair while she gazed at the sunrise, drinking her very much needed coffee to start the day. Was it always this cold in winter she wondered? It's been years since her last visit. And deep inside, she hated to admit that she missed being here. She looked around the balcony, taking in the scenery, remembering how it was before and thinking of how it has changed. Oh, how dearly she actually missed this place. With a sigh she looked at her phone, only to see that it was already 7:25 AM. With one last look at the scenery she left the balcony and went to take a quick shower to get ready.

While showering, she felt like her head was going to explode from overthinking. The years before leaving, her time in France, and now being back in Estonia. Once she got out of the shower she got dressed, deciding to wear a pair of pink silk suit pants, paired with a black top and a matching pink suit jacket. While putting on her skin coloured socks, she jolted upon hearing the alarm from her phone. Glancing at her phone she saw it was already 8:07 AM. She sighed once more and sat down on the hotels chair and put her black hair up in a high ponytail. Moving on she put on a bit of makeup, nothing fancy really. To complete her look she put on some jewelers. Staring at her reflection in the mirror Hera gave herself a little motivation speech.
"You can do it Hera. Only you can do this. So go out there and shine."
With a smile Hera stood up and grabbed her coat and bag and left.

When Hera got out it was as cold as it was one the balcony. Still, she didn't mind it and continued her way. It took a while til she reached the bank.

About 30 minutes or maybe an hour later Hera left the bank with a smile. She had enough savings to buy her apartment and today was her lucky day, she had an appointment to look over an apartment. She fished out her phone from her coats pocket to take a look at the time. She had enough time til that so she went to a cafe to grab a cup of coffee or something. Hera found a coffee place called Coffee In. Hera bought a latte and decided to visit a nearby free art gallery. She liked a few exhibitions that were shown there so she took a picture of them and decided she should start going. To lessen her boredom she put on her earphones, pressed the "shuffle" button on Spotify and let the music play.

"Flatline, a breath away
I was born with one foot in the grave
Been to hell and back
Dealt a real bad hand, but I live with that

I've learned to face my darkness
Now I embrace my doubt
Don't go and plan my funeral
Don't go and count me out
Don't go and count me out

Living on a razor's edge
Danced with demons, tasted death
I've lost wars inside my head
But hallelujah, I'm not dead
Won't be waiting on my hearse
Pain's a gift, it ain't a curse
My heart still beats, my blood's still red
Hallelujah, I'm not dead
Hallelujah, I'm not dead

Hallelujah
Hallеlujah

Wake up another fight
Am I the victim or thе homicide
What's in my head left scars behind
Every step is an uphill climb

I've learned to live in shadows
Even without the light
I've learned to love the battles
Only the strong survive
Only the strong survive

Living on a razor's edge
Danced with demons, tasted death
I've lost wars inside my head
But hallelujah, I'm not dead
Won't be waiting on my hearse
Pain's a gift, it ain't a curse
My heart still beats, my blood's still red
Hallelujah, I'm not dead
Hallelujah, I'm not dead

So if you're black and blue
And feeling so abused
No it don't make you damaged
It makes you living proof
That you are so much more
Than all this hell you've known
Remember this: What doesn't kill you is what builds your throne

Living on a razor's edge
Danced with demons, tasted death
I've lost wars inside my head
But hallelujah, I'm not dead
Won't be waiting on my hearse
Pain's a gift, it ain't a curse
My heart still beats, my blood's still red
Hallelujah, I'm not dead

Living on a razor's edge
Danced with demons, tasted death
I've lost wars inside my head
But hallelujah, I'm not dead
Won't be waiting on my hearse
Pain's a gift, it ain't a curse
My heart still beats, my blood's still red
Hallelujah, I'm not dead
Hallelujah, I'm not dead"

Hera loved the song, it made her feel like every bad thing that has happened was worth it in the end to let her true potential shine. With a big smile she confidently walked into the building and met up with the woman who was supposed to show her around the apartment.

"Tere! Kas Teie olete Maria Tamm?"
("Hello! Are you Maria Tamm?")

"Tere, jah see olen mina. Teie olete siis Hera Rowan?"
("Hello, yes that is me. So you are Hera Rowan?")

"Jah. Kas nüüd lähme vaatame seda korterit nagu lubasite?"
("Yes. Shall we go look at the apartment like you promised?")

"Muidugi. Korter on siin pool."
("Of course. The apartment is this way.")

Maria showed the way to the elevator. She pressed the button to open it and tapped on number 10, the last floor of this apartment complex. The elevator ride was completely silent but at least it didn't feel awkward. They heard a little "ding" sound and the elevator doors opened. Maria then took a turn to left and with her keys, she opened the second apartments door. Maria opened the door and when Hera stepped in she was mesmerized by the light creamy coloured walls and how spacious the apartment looked.

"On siin rõdu?"
("Is there a balcony?")

"Muidugi on. Ma näitan Teile kus."
("Of course there is. I'll show you where.")

Maria walked straight, took a turn to the right and they saw a balcony. Hera got excited so she dashed to the balcony's door, opened it and took a step to the balcony. She looked left and right and the balcony seemed to be just right.

"Kas näitan Teile ka teisi ruume?"
("Shall I show you the other rooms?")

"Ikka."
("For sure.")

Maria showed Hera other rooms and Hera's love for this place grew. It was her 9th apartment she's visited in these two weeks and she loves this one.

"Kuidas korter meeldib?"
("Do you like the apartment?")

"Tohutult meeldib! Arvan, et võtan selle korteri."
("I like it so much! I think I'll be taking this apartment.")

"Rõõm kuulda. Lähme koostame vajalikud paberid ja korter on Teie."
("Glad to hear it. Let's go make the papers and the apartment is yours.")

Hera nodded and with that, they left to sign the deal. Hera felt happy knowing she got an apartment that she liked. She already got so many ideas on how to style her apartment.

About an hour later Hera stared at papers she was holding with today's biggest smile. She did it. She finally got her apartment. Hera decided to go shopping for her apartment. After all, she needs to decorate her new home.

Skipping another hour or so, Hera had made another trip to her apartment to drop off a few things there. She felt it was gonna easier if she already had some stuff there. Now she was on her way back to the hotel. She got to her so called "room" and started packing. Before leaving it she looked around to make sure she didn't forget anything and to make sure she didn't leave the place too messy. With a slight nod she closed the door and went to reception to pay the bill and go to her new home.

With a dazzling smile she left the hotel and took a taxi to her apartment. When she reached her destination she payed the driver and hurried home.

Hera changed into more comfortable clothes and tried making some sort of a bed on the floor as the apartment didn't have any furniture. It was a little uncomfortable trying to sleep on the floor but she knew she'll be sleeping on a comfy bed soon. Thinking about everything she's gonna do, Hera fell asleep.

PS!
The song used in this chapter is called "Hallelujah (I'm not dead)" by Citizen Soldier.
