We got to the car to see Lane already there leaning on the passenger door.
“Let’s go! I’m starving,” Lane exclaims when he notices us walking towards him.
“I can ask my mom to order pizza,” I suggest, looking at the guys, waiting for some kind of confirmation. Even though I don’t really need it, we always want pizza.
“Yes do that,” Blair says, while Lane and Valen nod in agreement.
“Alright let me call her,” I tell them, fishing my phone out of my pocket as we all get in the car.
I scroll through my contacts to find my mom’s and press the ‘call’ button when I find it.
“Hey honey,” she answers kindly.
“Hi mom,” I responded, sounding kind of suspicious.
“What do you want,” she asks with a laugh.
“Do you think you can maybe order us some pizza for tonight,” I asked as politely as I could muster up.
“I guess I can do that,” she says in a tone that makes me think I can hear her smile.
“Thank you mom,” I told her.
“The usual,” she asks. As if the answer would be anything but yes. Normally my house is the main house that all of us hang out at, mostly because it’s the biggest, and my mom has always ordered us pizza every time without fail and our order is always the same. Six pizzas, three cheeses and three pepperoni.
“Yeah,” I answer in a ‘duh’ tone.
“I’m just checking,” she laughs. “Are you guys still at the school?”
“Yes ma’am, we are about to leave,” I say.
“Okay sweetie drive safe,” mom responds “Love you.”
“Love you too mom.” I hang up the phone and look at the guys with a smile. “We’re getting pizza,” I yell, louder than was necessary.
“Could you not yell,” Valen says in a bored tone.
“Tough crowd,” I mutter, loud enough for everyone to hear though of course.
As we pull into the driveway I notice that the girls beat us home. Once I get the car parked Aspen walks out of the front door of the house with a big smile on her face and a slice of cheese pizza in her hand. She began walking towards the car when Blair opened his door on the back driver’s side of the car.
“We are talking about sneaking out. If you guys don’t want to, we don’t have to, we don’t have our hearts set on it or anything,” Aspen says as she stands outside the open car door.
“Where are you guys talking about going,” Lane responds to her.
“I don’t know. We were thinking about just going to the park and hanging out and maybe filming tiktoks,” she answers, smiling a cheesy smile at the end.
“Oh! And we can go to the ice cream parlor,” Valen adds excitedly.
“Well now we have to go, you got Val excited,” I say with a chuckle.
“Yay,” Aspen squeals, skipping back into the house.
“So she did have her heart set on it,” Blair says between laughs.
“We should go inside,” Val says while opening his door and getting out.
Val opens the passenger door and practically drags Lane to the front door and into the house.
“They really just left us out here,” I say to Blair.
“They are so mean to us,” he replies, wiping a fake tear.
“Come on,” I say to Blair as he is taking his sweet time to get all his stuff out of the car.
“Okay okay I’m coming,” he says, grabbing my forearm and pulling me as if I was the one holding us up.
When we got into the house we greeted my parents when we saw them sitting in the living room watching a movie.
“Hi boys, the others are downstairs,” Mom says with a smile, referring to the basement where we hang out every time we are here together.
“Okay Mom, thank you,” I replied as I leaned down to kiss her cheek.
“Thank you for letting us come over Mrs. and Mr. Anderson,” Blair says to my parents.
“Now Blair, how long have you known us? You don’t have to be so formal bud, you know that,” my dad tells him.
“I know,” Blair replies with a smile. As he is talking I gently tug him toward the basement door.
“Okay you guys have fun,” Mom yells from the living room.
“We always do,” I respond back as I open the basement door.
Blair and I descend down the stars that curve to the left to the landing of the basement where there are three couches that our friends are sprawled out on as Peter Pan plays on the TV.
“You guys are watching Peter Pan without me? In my own house,” I gasp out. “Unacceptable,” I mutter. Laughs and chuckles are heard but no one looks up towards Blair and I.
I look over to see Blair walking toward the couch on the right of the room where Carmen has her legs over Lane’s lap. He lifts up Carmen's legs and sits in between the twins.
“So what’s up with this sneaking out plan I've heard of,” Valen suddenly says as I make my way to sit on the end of the couch in the middle where Chandler is sitting on her phone, not paying attention to anyone.
“I think we are going to go to the park if everyone is down,” Alexis answers, looking up at him from her position lying on the floor in the middle of the couches.
“When are we going,” Lane asks, not taking his eyes off the screen.
“When Kai’s parents go to sleep,” Carmen answers in a ‘duh’ tone as if he should already know that. Lane doesn’t respond to her, just glances at her and then back to the movie.
