The Surprise
Harry,
Hope things are going well back at home. I miss you a lot. Are you excited for school to start again? I can't believe break is almost over. Write me back!
~Maddie
I put the letter in the envelope and address it to Harry. I take my Barred Owl out of her enclosure and give her the letter.
"Off you go Willow." I say and let Willow fly out of my window.
I lean on my desk and a stack of letters fall to the ground. I look down and see all of my letter I wrote to Draco. I wrote to him but never had the courage to send it. Things got rocky last year and I didn't want things to get worse.
"Get your things ready." Snape, my father, says coming through the door into my room.
"Huh?" I ask continuing to pick up the fallen letters.
"You are headed to the Weasley's for the rest of break." My father says.
"Really!?" I ask happily.
"Yes, you will get your school things there with them, I will give you galleons to pay for the things, you are going to help Ginny Weasley, now pack your things." My father says before leaving.
I stand up and immediately start packing. Ron says many good things about Ginny so I'm so excited to meet her and the rest of his family. I throw everything I need into my trunk, my robes, my winter things, everything I need for the school year.
"I'm ready." I say as I come down into the kitchen.
"Good, did you put your bandage back on your head?" My father asks.
"Yes." I say setting down my trunk.
Last year, when Harry and I were battling Voldemort for the first time, Voldemort hurt me very bad resulting in a deep gash on the back of my head.
"Good, now let's get going." My father says and we leave for the Weasley's home
"Oh welcome, welcome, come in, come in." Mrs. Weasley says when my father and I reach the house.
"It's so great to meet you as well Mrs. Weasley but please, call me Maddie." I say releasing from her embrace.
"Thank you dear, now come meet Ginny." Mrs. Weasley says leading me through the kitchen.
"I will be going now, I will see you soon Madelyn." My father says.
"Goodbye father." I say and he leaves.
"What are you doing here?" Ron asks.
"I'm spending the rest of the summer here." I say releasing from our hug.
"Really!?" Ron asks.
"Yes, I'm here to help Ginny." I say.
"Oh wonderful! I'm so glad you're here." Ron says.
"Me too." I say.
"Hello, Maddie, it's so lovely to meet you." Ginny says.
"You as well." I say.
"Maddie is here to get you ready for Hogwarts." Mrs. Weasley says.
"Oh great, because I am not prepared." Ginny says.
"Where have you been!?" I hear Mrs. Weasley say from downstairs.
"Maddie!" Harry says and runs over to give me a hug.
"Beds empty! No note! Car gone! You could have died! You could've been seen!" Mrs. Weasley yells at Ron and the twins.
"They were starving him, mum. There were bars on his window." Ron says through a mouthful of biscuit.
"Well, you'd best hope I don't put bars on your window Ronald Weasley!" Mrs. Weasley says.
"Yes dear, it was on the cat." Mrs. Weasley says.
"Ginny...she's been talking about you all summer. A bit annoying, really." Ron says.
"Morning dad!" Everyone choruses back.
"What a night! Nine raids! Nine!" Mr. Weasley says as he goes to put his books that he was carrying away.
"Raids?" Harry asks.
"Dad works in the Ministry of Magic, in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office. Dad loves muggles. Thinks they're fascinating." Ron explains.
"Who are you?" Mr. Weasley asks as he sits in his chair.
"I'm Harry Potter." Harry says.
"Good Lord, are you really?" Mr. Weasley asks.
"Yeah everyday!" George says.
"When did he get here?" Mr. Weasley asks.
"This morning. Your sons flew that enchanted car of yours to Surrey and back last night." Mrs. Weasley says.
"Did you really? How'd it go?" Mr. Weasley asks intrigued.
"Oh it was-" The boys start but Mrs. Weasley cuts them off by hitting Mr. Weasley in the shoulder.
"I mean...that was very wrong indeed boys, very wrong of you." Mr. Weasley says.
"Oh umm..." Harry says trying to find and answer but is cut off when a loud screech comes from the window.
"Oh that'll be Errol with the post." Mrs. Weasley says.
"Dumbledore must know you both are here. Doesn't miss a trick, that man." Mr. Weasley says.
"This lot won't be cheap, mum. These spell books alone are very expensive." George says looking at his letter.
"We'll manage." Mrs. Weasley says.
