James woke with a start. He’d had that dream again, but this time, there was no damsel in distress. He saw this as a sign that Denise was in real danger. He quickly got dressed and drove to Denise’s house.
As he walked up the driveway he immediately believed this to be a mistake. She wasn’t in danger, he thought, maybe I should just go. Then, suddenly Denise jolted out of the door. “Oh my God! Mr. Richardson!”
“Miss – Are you in trouble?”
“I just had a crazy dream…you were fighting these three men who were after me for some reason. What is going on? Why are you here?”
“I thought you might have been in danger.”
“I’m scared, this week has been hell.”
Just then a crying came from inside. “Oh my God, Trent! C’mon” Denise said, beckoning James inside.
As they came in, they saw a figure going out the back door.
“No! Not Trent! Get back here!”
James ran out outside and tried to chase the man down, but he was gone. As he walked back inside, Denise walked out of Trent’s room with the baby. He must have been here for something else.
“The Unicorn!” James said, looking over at the empty shelf on the wall. “What is with that thing?”
“I don’t know, but I don’t feel safe here anymore,” Denise said. “Can I come with you?”
“Yeah, that would be fine.” They drove back to James’ apartment and went to sleep, James on the couch, Denise and the baby in his bed.
