I was on the balcony. Watching. Waiting. The sky flashed once. The sky darkened, but soon after another flash commenced. Lighting up the blackness. And again, once, twice, three times, four times in a row. The clouds clustered together looking pale and gray. The bolt of lightning striking through them all. I heard other noises. People talking. TVs running political programs. But there I was. Ignoring it all. Watching the lightning. I looked further. I saw stars. I saw other lights. Those belonged to boats. And still in my field of vision, a strike of light tore through it all. I looked below me. The height undisorinenting and somewhat comforting. I saw the trees and the sand. I only heard the waves as I saw a vicious darkness devouring the sand. The beam of light pulled me away. Out of my stupor. The beams of hope in the darkness had slowed down. I waited for one last flash. A faint one that didn’t quite fulfill my request was seen. I left, my gentle wings carrying me into the darkness.Farther and farther.
Into the sea.
