Untitled chapter

“Captain look, there’s another Dolphin.” one of the ships men shouted.

“Throw him overboard, men.” the Captain replied without a care in the world for the poor soul. “STOP RIGHT THERE, YOU WILL PUT THAT DOLPHIN DOWN AND LISTEN TO ME.” came a booming voice from somewhere in the distant cloud. Turning around the crew of the ship, including the Captain saw a smaller boat trundling through the waves, the ship was called: Alguita. “My name is Raquel de Vine. I am a scientific researcher gathering information about rubbish in the sea. As I can see you are not throwing any rubbish into the sea at this moment you are supposedly OK, however I expect you have done so in the past. Although you are doing nothing wrong to do with litter, you are still breaking a violation by letting your fishing nets pull up innocent creatures.” Raquel said through her loudspeaker, gesturing at the dolphin. “What do you want us to do with the Dolphin?” asked the shaking crew.

“That is up for you to decide, just no more throwing litter into the sea this goes for all of the public, so please don’t be shy and let them know.” Raquel replied before turning her ship and disappearing back into the mist.“Captain look, there’s another Dolphin.” one of the ships men shouted.

“I’m back, and I’ve got help!” Ethan screamed arriving next to John. He had brought with him all his friends and family from the deep sea to help rescue Hector the Dolphin. Although he was happy with himself for getting help, John was sitting on a piece of coral crying his eyes out. “Hector….. He died….. Five minutes ago….. His last words were….. I…. Love my…. Family…..” John whispered before bursting into tears again.

“Oh my…” Ethan said. Suddenly there was a noise, everyone looked over in the direction of where Hector was floating upside down tangled in netting. He was slowly being raised up, up, up into the sky. “Oh, I do hope the humans realize what they are doing isn’t good.” were the last words spoken by Ethan, before everyone dispersed.

“Captain look, there’s another Dolphin.” one of the ships men shouted.

“Let’s turn back to shore men, I think this expedition is over.” the Captain said trying to hide his shakiness. As they were on their way back to shore the Dolphin got thrown overboard, it was from then on made a rule that no more unwanted animals got caught up in the netting of ships. The crowds back on the mainland where there to greet the crew, however the crew weren’t as excited to greet them. “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. We have arrived early today because we were caught by a team of researchers gathering information about litter in the sea. They have given us a good talk too, and after some thought we have decided to share it with you.” this wasn’t quite true, but the Captain liked to make himself look good.

“The amount of litter in the ocean is out of control, it’s killing ocean wildlife and there isn’t time for the animals to repopulate. This is a big concern, not only to the animals but to humans to. If they ever do eventually become extinct then yes they will be missed, but also people who enjoy eating them will no longer have any fish to eat.” the Captain stopped for some water. “But what can we do about that?” asked one of the public.

“Ah, now there are lots of things we as the public can do to help, Recycle properly by putting the right materials in the right bins, don’t throw rubbish off the side of a boat or on mainland just put it in a bin, take part in a clean up organisation at least once a year, try not to release so many balloons pop them and recycle them properly and definitely spread the word of being litter friendly.” said the Captain finishing. Feeling glad that he had spread the word about being litter friendly.

A couple of weeks later the animals of the sea woke up to one of the cleanest days in the ocean. “Didn’t I tell you if we just waited the humans would do the right thing.” Ethan grinned from ear to ear. Even though the ocean wasn’t totally clean it is definitely better than it use to be. “All it takes is teamwork and you can achieve anything.” John said also grinning from ear to ear.

Ivan: Absolutely beautiful work.!I like the plot and writer's style!Good job!

VyaghriniLightning: The way the characters evolve throughout the story is great. My favourite parts are in the farm. Oubaas and Trina are my favourite characters. The writing style is very relflective of Monica's shy simple and shy persona. The only draw-back was the ocassional places where there was no space betwee...

Sarah Luongo: This is a very quick read, at least for me, maybe not for the ideal audience of elementary school children. This is definitely fun, visual, and very creative. The plot comes and goes extremely quickly, which is a bit of a bummer since that is what a story should rely on. A bit more suspense or so...
