Chapter 30

The rich smell of freshly plowed earth filled the spring air when Sam, Homer and Jamie went to the barn, retrieved the rattan swing from the haymow, marched to the front porch and hung it up. They pulled their shoes and socks off and then sat shoulder to shoulder in the swing, gliding back and forth, watching the sun go down. As the dome winked out when it dropped below the horizon, Sam and Jamie played Happy Days are Here Again while Homer sang and clicked his spoons.
