It was a Saturday afternoon and mummy was getting ready for work. Mummy worked most weekends which always made Gabriela a little bit sad, although she did get to spend the day with her Daddy. Daddy was good company he loved to play games with Gabriela and their favourite game was hide and seek.
After Mummy left for work, Daddy could see that Gabriela was a bit sad, so he suggested a game of hide and seek. Gabriela although still a bit sad agreed, because she knew it would cheer her up. Normally they would toss a coin to see who would hide first, but on this occasion Daddy could see that Gabriela was sad so he let her hide first. So Daddy closed his eyes and began to count. “ 99, 100, coming ready or not”.
Daddy looked everywhere behind the sofa, in the oven, in the fridge, he even looked in the toilet. But he couldn’t find her anywhere. Daddy thought to himself she must be upstairs. So up the stirs he went he looked under the beds, he looked in the beds, he looked in the loft, he looked in the chest of draws but still nothing. The only place left he hadn’t looked was in the wardrobes. Before Daddy opened the wardrobes he whispered to himself. “I’ve got her now there’s nowhere else she can be”. After looking in all the wardrobes except one, Daddy thought it would be a good idea to open the door quickly and shout “boo”. So Daddy sneaked up to the wardrobe and as quite as he could he took the handle took a silent deep breath and pulled the door shooting boo. But to his surprise there was no Gabriela.
On discovering that Gabriela wasn’t there Daddy was a bit shocked and surprised. In order to help himself think more clearly he sat on the bed. To think as hard as he could Daddy put his hands over his face. As Daddy was deep in thought he was suddenly startled by a noise from the wardrobe in front of him. Daddy quickly took his hands away from his face and to his surprise Gabriela was standing in front of him, she had a very strange look on her face.
Daddy was both puzzled and amazed, as Gabriela seemed to appear from nowhere. Daddy spoke first. “Gabriela, where have you come from? I looked everywhere in this room for you and I couldn’t find you anywhere”. Before answering Daddy, Gabriela took some small and deep breaths. “Daddy I was hiding in the wardrobe”.
“Yes Gabriela I know that you have just come out of there”. Daddies reply lacked a lot of certainty because now he was starting to dought his
p2 finding skills. Gabriela looked at Daddy with a stern look on her face. “Daddy please let me finish; as I was saying, I was hiding in the wardrobe when something very strange happened”. This time Daddy dared not interrupt Gabriela, any way he couldn’t he was at a loss for wards. Gabriela continued with her explanation. “The wardrobe started to shake and it began to go down. I knew it was going down because it felt the same as a lift”.
This time nothing was going to stop Daddy from talking. “Gabriela that’s impossible”. Gabriela was a bit upset that Daddy didn’t believe her and she told him so. Then she challenged Daddy to go in the wardrobe with her to see for himself. With that she opened the wardrobe door and gestured to Daddy to enter the wardrobe.
With both of them inside the wardrobe Daddy closed the door at the the very moment that the door closed the magic began. The wardrobe began to shake then it dropped quickly. Gabriela and Daddy were a bit skird because all this was going on in the dark. When at last they came to a sudden sharp stop, Gabriela and Daddy both let out a deep sigh of relief. There was a still darkness for a few seconds, all that could be heard was the sound of Daddies and Gabriela breathing.
Suddenly without any warning the wardrobe doors opened. At that moment in came a bright light to replace the darkness of the wardrobe, which was a shock to Daddies and Gabriela,s eyes. This meant for a few seconds they could not see what lay beyond the opened wardrobe doors. When eventually their eyes were accustomed to the light, at first they both thought that they where both in a dream because of what they could see beyond the wardrobe door.
At last they both realised they were not dreaming, because they could smell and touch what they could see something you can’t do in a dream. What lay in front of them was the most beautiful land they have ever seen, full of flowers of all colour and smells, purest green trees and grass, bright blue sky and sunshine. Every building they could see was painted in bright beautiful colours. The biggest building they could see and what appeared to be the centre peace of the land was a large castle adorned in bright pink.
