I want to share a world of mine that I lived in for ten years with another man. Some might be able to relate to this story, some might want to scream and yell and call me stupid names and others might think that I lived a dangerous life. Please enjoy this story as I tell it year by year.

I met Brad in a deserted area during my junior year at Humboldt State University. I was hanging out with a friend of mine named James. James and I had just done some real good Peruvian cocaine on Highway 101 in his DeLorean. James and I had just been riding around in his DeLorean, catching up on the last twenty years of our lives. James was a musician and I was a student at Humboldt State. The last time I saw James was in 1989.

After cruising all day in his DeLorean, James and I decided to see if there were any guys hanging out near the bridge. When we got to the bridge, James and I saw a guy hanging out under the tree with a skateboard. The guy was tall with blonde hair and blue eyes. I yelled at James, “Dude stop the car and go talk to the guy! He’s the man that I’m supposed to marry.”

James said, “Fuck you Michael, if I get out of the car and talk to the guy then he’s mine.”

I was too high to think about talking to a stranger and too numb to argue with my friend. All I could do was use some kind of natural higher thinking. All of a sudden James swerved, stopped the car, opened the door, and got out to walk around in the tall grass that was littered with trash. There were seagulls hopping around everywhere. I rolled down the window and yelled at James, “Don’t you dare take my man away!” James continued to walk away and disappeared behind the building that housed the restrooms. I was left alone in the car for about fifteen minutes and all I could think was, “I hope that James talks to the hot skater boy that is standing near the tree.” I reclined in my seat, closed my eyes and thought, “I hope that James brings him back to the car.”

As I sat daydreaming about the guy by the tree, James opened the door, causing me to jump like a firecracker. “So did you talk to the guy?” I asked. James reached into his pants pocket and pulled out a piece of paper that had a name and number written on it in black ink. The name said “Brad”. I yelled, “Oh my God you got his fuckin’ number!”

“I did, Michael! Brad and I are going to meet up later this evening after I drop you off at home,” James replied.

Surprised, I said, “Wow James, so it’s going be like that-you’re going to step on my prey of love. I really thought you were a friend that I could trust and now I’m seeing your dirty little secrets. That’s okay. The only way you will get Brad in bed is to seduce him with all the money you have. I’m sure that Brad is the type of guy that would only want you for your money, not because he is sexually attracted to you.”

“I’m okay with that, Michael. I’ve gotten used to the whole world of men wanting me just for my money,” James said. “I’m not ashamed of allowing sexy men date me for my money. At least I can get rid of them real fast when I don’t want to spoil them anymore.”

“You’re a fuckin’ jerk, James. Pull up to the next corner and let me out of this car now!” I yelled.

“So it’s going to be like that, Michael?” James asked. “Do you realize that I was in love with you and you had no clue that I wanted to settle down with you? I would have made you the main man in my world but you’re too busy running around with all kinds of men and not giving me the time or day. I always wanted to give you everything I have but you’re busy daydreaming about young, dysfunctional skater boys.”

“James, I’m not into your money and I don’t need a man to take care of me,” I said self-righteously. “You and I have been friends since I was like 18 or 19, carelessly wandering from friend to friend. I always wanted you as a friend, not a boyfriend, and I thought that you would have gotten the hint all the times that I refused to spend the night with you at your house alone. I wish you would get it through your head that I just want to be friends.”

“Michael, I understand that you just want to be friends,” James said. “Anyway, I’m meeting up with him in an hour at Denny’s. I’m going to drop you off at home and I will give Brad’s number so you can call him tomorrow.”

“Cool, and boy will I use that number!” I said with excitement. “Oh, and I don’t want to know anything about your date with Brad!”

Molly: I wasn’t sure if I wanted to start this one as the characters are a bit younger but I wanted to see if this poor girl would finally be able to be free of abuse and open to accept love (family) and be able to heal. It’s is great so far, minimal spelling errors, I think the Spanish isn’t necessary ...
