Night 17: Too Much Similarities

I woke up in the darkness outside and only the light inside the car. It’s already 8PM I really had a deep sleep; didn’t even notice we’re here. Samuel is on his laptop, writing something I’m not sure of.

“Work on holidays?” I yawned and open the window just in time the cold wind enters the car.

“No, I just have to e-mail a friend. Anyway, thank goodness you’re up. Let’s go.” He gets off first so I follow. He’s heading to a shop, probably a tattoo shop. He saw my expression and smiled as well. Inside is a man with tattoo only on his arm. Only one semi-colon in there. This one is a survivor.

“Hey, Sam. It’s been a while. What story do we get?” The man greeted Samuel and stared as he notices me. “Looks like you got company for the first time.”

“Martin, this is Scarlett. I think you receive my text last week?”

“Of course, my friend. So, where in that body?” He asked Samuel but Samuel looked at me asking me where.

“I can’t really think of that.”

“Okay. Then I get to decide. Rib part, good?” I realize I don’t have mark on that part so I think I’ll agree.

“Anywhere.”

Martin led us both inside to the tattoo corner and he put up a photo of a Yin-Yang symbol but separated. The one filled with black is Samuels while the other one is mine. A lady came from the back, probably the assistant. I wonder why we have to get that tattoo at the same time.

We lay face down on a bed next to each other and just stare at each other as the needles push over our skin. Samuel’s not making any expression while I’m here feeling a bit of sting because of the fact that I only had one tattoo and he had lots. He noticed I keep crumbling my face so he reached for my hand which surprised me too. It stayed that way for an hour and I just can’t let it go until he told me it’s time to go.

“That’s a nice time again with you Martin. Merry Christmas!” We both say goodbye to the artists and head back to the car.

“That hurts.”

“Yeah, you were making it obvious. Anyway, it was good getting tattoos before going on an adventure.”

“What? Where are we heading to?”

“You’ll see.” He turned the radio on and a country song was currently playing. We travel with open windows while I lean on them, feeling the wind on my face. After another hour, we reached an open place, a lagoon on the end of it with an RV parked as if someone is going camping.

“This is amazing, Samuel.” I watched him bring my things while I am still being amazed with the surroundings. Despite a few stars are seen, everything is just perfect.

“I told Eric to set this up before going on leave.”

“I thought I will be staying on your light house but you got nicer things than that house.”

“Don’t worry, it is just rented. I don’t know where to park an RV yet but I’ll buy it soon. I think it is more convenient than a tent. Less romantic but more convenient.”

“That. I like that. Practical thinking.”

I helped him get the things from his truck and brought it inside another car. It just looks like a normal camper, there is a mini kitchen, mini bathroom, mini dining and mini bedroom with only one bed. One bed.

“We slept together for many nights already, don’t be like that...” the first statement he said was just fine but then, he added, “and it’s perfect for the weather for a body heat.” While staring at me perversely. I once again reach for the lightest thing and it flew on his body.

“Just kidding. Don’t get carried away that fast. Let’s go back outside and make dinner.”

Outside is a grilling machine where we decided to move separately. He goes on prepping the food and I do the flaming coals. I should be doing otherwise but I have no idea. Well, lucky me there’s a guy who can cook. After we’re done, I wait for Samuel to finish cooking so we got to eat.

“So. Tell me, Scarlett. Did you have any boyfriends?” He asked out of nowhere.

I had lots but those are just flings. Nothing was taken seriously. We just hang out, kiss and break up because they can’t handle me. I was just a cold bitch with a suicidal side which they can’t handle.

“Did you?” I asked instead of answering his queries.

“A few. One is Shiela.”

“You were together?? For real?”

“We were dating for a few months but then we broke up. Suddenly, my father decided to rule my love life and then picked Shiela to be my fiancé. She liked it but I hate the idea of marrying someone who can’t handle my personality. You see, we’re completely different.”

“I’m just wondering... No lingering feelings?”

“Stop asking now. I can sense something.” Then he stared at me like I am not admitting something.

“I am not jealous.”

“I didn’t say anything.”

This is the first time that someone, some guy talked to me and approached me first. This is also the first time that I felt that I have a friend. And this is the first time I encountered someone just like me. Like I don’t ever want to lose this kind of person.I woke up in the darkness outside and only the light inside the car.
