Henna and I went to the store to buy some groceries to stock up the kitchen. It was nice to get out of the house considering I didn't do it very often.

Henna picked the items on the list while I trailed behind with the cart,

She hummed in response, reaching for some fresh fruits in the pile.

"What's Mr. Hertz like?" I asked suddenly, I might as well get something out of her now that we're out alone, plus she's known him longer than I have.

"How do you mean?" She asked.

"I mean, his likes and dislikes, what he does when he's not working, is he seeing anyone?" She stopped and turned to look at me skeptically.

"What's this sudden interest in Mr. Hertz?"

Oh, shit. I panicked, "It's just I have been under his care for so long that I suddenly realized I don't know a clue about him, I mean...wouldn't you want to know if you were me?"

She continued to stare at me suspiciously,

"I'm just curious, that's all.." I added, pushing the cart forward.

She gave in with a sigh.

"Well, David isn't exactly an open book, so it's hard to tell what he likes or dislikes, as for being with anyone, I don't know, I haven't seen him with anyone, he doesn't bring anyone over to the house."

"How long have you worked for him?" She answered.

"Thirteen years--"

"When my parents left me?" I supplied and we both went quiet,

"You never talk about them?" She waved in pity.

"I don't remember them.." I replied, "They are pretty much a void in my head, if not for some of the albums Mr. Hertz kept of them, I wouldn't even know what they look like."

"I'm sorry." She didn't know what else to say to me.

"It's fine.." I smiled and continued with the shopping, "So about Mr. Hertz, does he have any kids?"

"None that I know of, why?"

"Like I said before, I'm just getting to know him..." I hoped I sounded convincing.

"I don't know if he has any kids. David is a man of few words, he doesn't say much about anything, unless it concerns your safety."

That made me blush in more ways than possible.

"What does he say about me?"

"Okay..." She dropped everything and turned to me, "What's this about?" She asked and I sputtered, thinking of what to say to sound convincing. She paused, staring at me questionably for a second. "Ali, I know you are eighteen, which also means you can be with anyone you want. But, Mr. Hertz is off limits..."

I startled,

"Pfft, what, as if..."

"Ali, he's twice your age.." She continued.

"Not that it matters, but I'm 18..."

"Alison Becky Stone?!!"

"Okay, this discussion is getting ridiculous, are we done here because I need to get home and forget we ever had this conversation."

I moved as fast as I could, Henna shook her head and followed me.

I almost ratted us out, I should really learn to keep my thoughts to myself, If Mr. Hertz finds out and I only hope she doesn't go telling him or I would be in so much trouble..

When Henna and I pulled up into the driveway I noticed an SUV car parked around outside. Before I could wonder, Henna answered my unasked questions.

"I think David and Bate are having poker night."

"Poker night?" I questioned, while the boys helped us upload the groceries.

"Yeah, they do it once a year, I'm just glad to see him getting social. That man doesn't get enough time for himself.... Let's put this away."

Henna and I went inside.

I helped fill in the cabinets and the fridge. After that we ordered some pizzas and I went upstairs to hang out in my room.

Mr. Hertz would be out for work again and I was hoping I would get to hang out with him today but I couldn't be selfish. I wasn't the only person in his life and he deserved his time.

So I ended up doing homework and falling asleep. When I awoke it was almost close to evening and I was thirsty,

I got out of bed and as soon as I opened the door I was faced with Mr. Hertz, he was about to knock.

"Hey.." I let out sharply,

I wasn't expecting him..

I allowed him to come in and quickly shut the door behind us. "Weren't you having poker night with Bate?" I asked.

"I was, but then Bate left to attend to an emergency."

I was relieved, "Did you have fun?" I spoke as I dragged him to my bed and made him sit. "I was completely shocked when I heard it, I didn't know you had poker nights or any fun at all."

"You calling me a loner?" He sounded amused and offended.

I straddle on his lap, muttering "I'm saying you need more friends."

He laughed hauling me closer to his body,

"What did you do today?" He asked.

"Nothing much. .I had pizza, finished a couple of work, and slept, waiting for you." he smiled at my response and I bit my lips whispering again, "What time is your flight again?" Sadness laced my tone.

"In the morning..."

"Raincheck..." I hoped.

He pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead, whispering, "It's just for a day, nothing more."

"Can I come with?"

"You have school.."

"I can skip a day, it's not like they teach anything anyway."

"Alison, that's not going to happen." He affirmed, he's so stubborn. I skip school all the time and still manage to keep a B average, so what's the problem?

I sighed at him.

He brought me closer and starts kissing me

"Sleep in my bed tonight..." he whispered, I nodded, grinning against his lips.
