Chapter 18

"My parents are out of town for the next week. I want to take you to my home." Cannon said one afternoon while we were in the grass behind my house doing school work. I looked up from my book.

"I'm sorry, what?" I asked him. He got a smile on his face.

"You heard me." He said.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I wouldn't have said anything if I wasn't." He said.

"Wow, I just. I never thought I'd see your home. Of course, I'd love to." I said. He smiled again and looked back to his books. It's been a little over a week since the box was left at my house. I was very surprised when my family let me go back to school. I thought for sure I would be locked up in this house forever. I think they didn't have a problem considering the Taylor brothers were always around me. I was either with Cannon at all times or Cody. Connor was around me as well, but ever since he broke things off with Sandy. He has kind of been out playing the field.

Friday after school Cannon and I were headed to his house. I don't know why I was nervous, but I had an uneasy feeling. We pulled up the long driveway. Once we pulled up in front of the huge house. Cody was standing outside in front of his truck. He smiled when he saw us. He ran over and opened the door for me. "I didn't think he would actually get you over here," Cody said.

"Why?" I asked. He just shrugged his shoulders. Cannon walked over and took my hand in his. I smiled at him and he pulled me to the front door. He opened the door and we walked inside. The place was huge and very open. You could tell the place was old and had been around forever. To me, it just seemed like your normal house, but something about the place felt off. It just felt like a house and not a home. Cannon started to show me around. The place was much bigger then I thought. "So you grew up here?" I asked. Cannon nodded at me. We started to head upstairs when we stopped because we heard someone laugh. All of a sudden Connor and some girl came out of a room, half-naked. Gross, I said to myself. I hid behind Cannon.

"Really Connor, Can't you keep a leash on her?" Cannon said.

"Fuck you, Cannon." I heard the girl say. "Is this your little girlfriend?" I peeked out and the girl had no top on and her boobs were just out.

"Connor!" I hollered. He rolled his eyes and grabbed the girl by the arm and pushed her back in his room.

"I'm sorry," Cannon said to me.

"What the fuck? Do you just get to see boobs all day?" I asked. He just kind of looked at me. "Great, so who is that one?"

"Her name is Gina and she comes to town once every couple of months to see Connor." He explained.

"Well, she seems lovely," I said and Cannon just smiled.

"Yeah not really, but she has had a thing for Connor for a very long time. She is just a toy to him though. I've told him many times to stop that with her, but he never listens." He said.

"Your parents just love that I'm sure," I said.

"She only comes when they are not home." He said.

"How often are they gone?" I asked.

"Not often enough." I hated to hear things like that. I guess I'm old fashion but family means something to me and my family has always been there and always been close. I don't understand how a mother or a father could be so cruel. It hurt my heart to hear these types of things. I followed Cannon down a hallway and then he stopped and opened a door. "This is my bedroom." He said and we took a step inside. He closed the door behind us. His room was large and had double doors that lead out onto a porch. His room did not look like a teenager's bedroom, but just the opposite. It was neat and smelled good and clean. He was very organized. My bedroom must drive him crazy.

"Your room is." I started to say.

"Boring?" He asked.

"No, I wasn't going to say that at all. Your very neat." I said and smiled.

"April, I'm never here." This was very true. Cannon was always with me. I watched him take a seat on his bed and I walked over to him. He just looked up at me as I climbed onto his lap. His arms wrapped around my body and he pulled me close to him.

"What do you want to do?" I said with a wicked smile on my face.

"Your a bad girl April." He said and winked at me. He tossed me down on the bed and walked over and locked his bedroom door. I laid there and just smiled at him. He bent down and kissed me. He started to kiss me down my neck and I lifted up just enough to pull my shirt up over my head. He smiled down at me and started to kiss down my body. Cannon gives me feelings that I don't want to fight. About two hours later we finally came up for air and we were both starving. We made our way down to the kitchen and the first people we saw was Cody and Connor. We kept heading into the kitchen and Cannon stopped and gripped my hand tight. I looked down at our hands and then looked back up.

Everyone was looking at us and that's when I noticed the man and woman standing in the kitchen. Both looked very dressed up and older. I knew right off the bat that it was Mr. and Mrs. Taylor. I took a deep breath and bit my lip. Cannon got quiet and stood back some. I looked to Cody and Connor for help. They also just stood there.

"Are you going to introduce us son?" Mr. Taylor said.

"This is April Blooms," Cannon said.

"Blooms? I don't know any Blooms." Mrs. Taylor said.

"My mothers maiden name is Mary Masters. We live in town with my grandmother Betty Masters." I said knowing that Mr. Taylor dated my mother. I knew he would remember. I saw a slight smile on his face.

"I went to school with your mother April. How is she doing?" Mr. Taylor said. All three of the boys looked at me.

"She is very well sir," I said.

"I like this one Cannon. She has manners." Mr. Taylor said. Cannon's face was hard and unreadable.

"I think it's time we leave," Cannon said.

"Nonsince, We just got home. April why don't you join us for dinner?" Mr. Taylor said. Mrs. Taylor flashed him a look, but he just ignored her.

"Sure," I said and I felt Cannon grip my hand even harder.

"Then it's settled, I'll have our cook make a great dinner and I expect all of you to be here." Mr. Taylor said. He eyed all the boys. None of them said a word. Cannon pulled me out of the kitchen and took me outback.

"Why did you agree to this?" He said sounding upset.

"Cannon, what's the problem?"I asked him. "How could I say no?"

"It's easy April." He said. He walked over and took a seat. I followed him and sat next to him. "This is going to be a fucking disaster." He said.

"I'm sorry, are you mad at me?" I asked him.

"No, I'm mad at them. You never told me your mother knew my father." He said.

"I guess they went out a few times in high school, but my mother didn't like him like that," I said and bit my tongue.

"That's fucking wonderful." He said.

"What's wrong with that?' I asked.

"Because my father is a womanizer April. He has cheated on my mother for years." He said.

"That's horrible Cannon. Why does she stay with him?" I asked.

"She is no saint April. Trust me she doesn't care." He said.

"What a mess," I said and Cannon just looked at me. Mr. Taylor was a very good looking man and I knew where the boys got there looks from. He didn't even look a day over thirty. The confidence rolled off of him like a waterfall. I had no idea how my mother wasn't puddy at his feet. Connor looked like Mr. Taylor the most and they almost seem to have the same personality as well.

"We will eat with them and then we can leave, okay?" I said to him as I placed my hand on his.

"Please do me a big favor, Don't listen to things my parents will say tonight." He asked me. I just nodded at him. Even though I felt bad for the boys. I couldn't help but be curious about what was going to be said during dinner. About an hour later we were all sitting around a large table. At first, everyone was quiet, but then Mrs. Taylor spoke up.

"So tell me April, what do your parents do for a living?" She asked me. Mr. Taylor and the boys just looked at me.

"My father is in business and my mother owns a business in town," I said.

"Do they make good money dear?" She asked.

"What does that matter mother?" Cannon asked. I shot a look at him.

"What's the business she owns in town called?" Mr. Taylor asked. All three of the boys shot their faces at him.

"It's called Blooms and she makes candles," I said.

"Candles? Sounds nice dear." Mrs. Taylor said.

"It is nice. She loves her work and she makes great money doing it. She is very happy." I said. Mr. Taylor had a smile on his face. Cannon also smiled and looked away. I can handle myself with the Taylors.

"How long have you and Cannon been seeing each other?" Mrs. Taylor asked.

"About five months," I said.

"So this is still new?" She said. I cocked my head at her.

"Do you have a problem with me, Mrs. Taylor?" I just said without thinking. The noises at the table almost made me laugh.

"Not at all, dear. What makes you think that?"

"Well, your attitude for one thing. My family may not come from tons of money, but I'm very good enough for Cannon and trust me he is very happy with me." I said. I waited for the comeback or a very pissed off family, but Mrs. Taylor just looked at her husband. Mr. Taylor had a smirk on his face. Cannon leaned in close to me.

"You have me all kinds of turned on right now." He whispered. Both Cody and Connor looked like they felt the same way.

"Well, maybe this one can bring you out of your ways Cannon. Cody, Connor hows things going on the field for you? Have you got your brother out there yet?" Mr. Taylor asked.

"Things are going very good sir, and no Cannon is not on the team," Connor said. Sir? I said to myself. Mr. Taylor turned and looked at Cannon.

"Still got your head in the books I see," He said and just shook his head.

"Cannon is very smart Mr. Taylor. You should be proud of your son." I said. Mr. Taylor looked at me.

"Your right April, but that's all he is good at." He said. I could feel myself getting more and more upset. "You see April you should of went for Cody or Connor here. They are smart and very athletic as well. They are a double threat. Cannon here is just book smart. We have no idea what he will become, but the twins here are on their way to big things." He said.

"With all due respect sir, I had my choice of all three of your boys and I choose the right one. If you'll excuse us." I said and stood up. I took Cannon's hand and lead us outside. I slammed the door behind us. "I have never in my entire life.." I was cut off by Cannon's lips crashing into mine. "What was that for?" I said once he took a step back.

"I love you April." He said.
