Chapter 24

It's been almost four months since everything went down with Rosey. Bradly ended up getting a sentence of ten years and probation. He was lucky he had a good lawyer. I had to testify in court and explain what had happened to me. I had seen Rosey kill Melinda and I never thought I was going to get out alive. I had to go to therapy because of what had happened and I was having a hard time leaving my house. I knew it was over and that I was safe, but something inside of me was still scared. Cannon, Cody, and Connor had to bury their father. Their mother didn't show up to the funeral and the town supported the boys any way they could. Their father left the business to all three of the boys with Cody in charge. The home and all the belonging were also left to the boys and their mother ended up with nothing.

She walked away from everything including the boys. I was pissed off at her and couldn't believe that she would do that. It didn't seem to phase Cannon at all. All I knew was Cody was closer to her than any of them and he took it hard. She didn't tell them where she was going. They just woke up one morning and she was gone. No note, no nothing. It broke my heart, but Cannon has been here none stop and my family doesn't seem to mind it at all. He stays the night with me and everything. You would think he has moved in with us. They know how we feel about each other and they have nothing but good things to say about it. "Baby?" I heard Cannon say. I looked up from my book at him. I was sitting on the couch with a blanket on my lap.

"Yes?" I said smiling at him.

"Can we please go out for pizza tonight?" He asked, flashing that beautiful sexy smile at me. "I mean grams cooking is the best, but I want pizza. I promise you if you go with me. I'll do that thing you like." He said. I had to laugh. He was talking about reading Disney stories to me. I took a deep breath and felt sorry for him having to put up with my broken ass.

"Okay," I said softly.

"Really?" He said. "I promise if you get to scared we will come right back home." I nodded at him and got off the couch to get dressed. Once we got to the pizza place. I saw Cody and Connor sitting in a booth waiting for us. It felt like I hadn't seen them forever. I ran over to them and hugged them both.

"Hello, beautiful," Cody said. Connor hugged me a little longer.

"It's good to see you out," Connor said. Cannon sat next to me in the booth.

"Are you okay?" He whispered to me. I felt good, to tell the truth. I nodded at him and I was just so glad to see them all. They all looked good.

"My new girlfriend will be joining us. I hope that's okay?" Cody spoke up. I was a little nervous. I had told Cannon that I wasn't going to let anyone new into my life, but to hear Cody say he was with someone was a little exciting. Cannon just looked at me.

"Tell me about her?" I asked Cody.

"Her name is Torrie Miller and she is from the next town over. She is nineteen and I met her at a meeting for my father's company. She is the daughter of Samual Miller. The owner of a company that my father has wanted to merge with for years. She comes from a lot of money and she is the sweetest thing. She reminds me of you April. She is kind and has a very big heart." I smiled at him and I couldn't wait to meet her.

"She sounds amazing Cody. I'm really happy for you." I looked over at Connor. "What about you? Anyone special that your talking to?" I asked him. He just started to laugh.

"Yeah, he has sworn off girls for now," Cody said. I looked back at Connor.

"What? They are all nuts April." Connor said.

"Look, you guys. I know all of this was rough on all of us, but we have got to move on from this. Connor, don't push love away. Not all of us are crazy bitches. Cody, I'm happy you have found someone and I wish nothing but the best for you. Cannon, I love you with all my heart and as long as you want me. I'll be next to you, but at some point, your going to need to talk about your pain and how you feel. In order for us to be completely free together." I said and they all smiled at me. Cannon kissed the top of my head and told me he loved me.

"I haven't given up on girls. I just don't want one right now." Connor said.

"That's okay Connor, but don't push it away to long. I don't want to see you unhappy." I told him.

"Trust me, it's nice to just figure out me right now," Connor said. "Besides, I need to change up the way I look at women and do things differently." I mean I agreed with him. We must have sat there for about fifteen more minutes when Cody stood up.

"She is here. I'll be right back." He said with a smile and walk out of the restaurant. I looked over at Cannon and kissed him on the lips. He kissed me back and we turned to see Cody walk back in with his arm around a tall blond girl. She had dark eyes and light blond hair. She was almost as tall as Cody and she was pretty. She smiled at us when she got to the table. "Torrie, this is April and my brother Cannon. Connor, you have already met." Cody said.

"Hello April, it's so nice to meet you." She said. She must know the story because the way she spoke to me was in a soft and sorry tone.

"It's nice to meet you to Torrie," I said. She and Cody took a seat and our food finally showed up. We all ate and talked about random things. No one brought up the situation. It was nice not to have to talk about it for a while. I had even forgotten about it for a moment.

"Are you ready to go, baby?" Cannon asked me.

"If you are?”

"You know how proud I am of you right now?" He said to me and I just shook my head at him. He kissed me and I rubbed my nose with his.

"You two are so cute together." I heard Torrie say. We both just looked at her and smiled.

"I know," Cannon said all cocky like. I lightly smacked his side. He just looked at me. "I'm taking April home," Cannon said as he stood up.

"Already?" Connor asked.

"Hey, are you coming home tonight?" Cody asked Cannon.

"Not likely.”

"Well do you think you could? We really need to talk." Cody asked Cannon. Cannon just looked at me.

"It's okay, I'll be fine one night without you," I said to him.

"I'll be home after I get her home and safe." He told Cody and Cody nodded at him. I told everyone goodbye and hugged them all.

"It was good meeting you, Torrie," I said as Cannon and I left. "So what do you think of Torrie?" I asked Cannon on the way home.

"I don't know. It's hard to trust anyone right now." Cannon said. I mean I agreed with him, but if we kept not trusting anyone. Our lives would suck.

"I really want to like her and hope that Cody and she really hit it off," I said. Cannon just looked at me real fast and smiled.

"I love your heart April." He said to me. "Let's just take things one day at a time." I nodded at him and moved into his arms. We got back to my house and my mother and grams were sitting on the porch.

"Well look who got out of the house." My grams said. I just smiled at her. I walked over and took a seat with them. Cannon just stood there watching us.

"Where did you go?' My mother asked.

"Out for pizza," I said.

"If you two are still hungry. There's broccoli cheddar soup on the stove." My grams said. Cannon didn't say a word as he made his way inside to the kitchen. I just giggled to myself.

"How's it going with you and Cannon?" My mother asked me.

"Great, Mom I'm going to marry him someday and give him lots of babies.” The look on my mothers face was priceless. "Not tomorrow, but in the future," I said. I kissed her on her cheek and my grams as well as I got up and went to find Cannon. I stood in the kitchen doorway and just watched as Cannon sat at the table eating his soup. I wanted the future to come soon. I was so in love with that boy. I thought my heart would burst.

"What are you looking at? Your creeping me out." Cannon said with a smile on his face. I crossed my arms.

"Well I was thinking about how much I loved you, but now you can kiss my creepy butt.”

"I'll bite your butt." I just shook my head at him.

"Don't forget I bite back." I giggled when I said that.

"Is that right?" He said and I could see that look in his eyes. He stood up and I was prepared to bolt the minute he moved. He took one step and I took off up the stairs into my bedroom. I jumped into my bed and hide under the covers. I heard my door closed and I got so giddy that I started to laugh. "You always give yourself away, baby." I heard Cannon say.

"I can't help it," I said moving the blanket away from my head. Cannon was standing right next to my side of the bed. I smiled at him but he didn't smile back. Instead, he climbed into the bed with me and pulled me into his arms.

"I'm going to marry you someday." He said in my ear.

"Oh, really and what if I say no?"

"You won't"

"How can you be so sure?"

"Becuase I heard what you told your family and I want all them babies your going to give me." I blushed and just bit my lips. "When do we get to work on the whole baby thing?" He asked me. I just shook my head.

"After you marry me and we have a home of our own," I said to him.

"Is that a promise?"

"I don't know. Is that what you want?"

"More than anything." I couldn't help my self as I climbed into his lap and pressed my lips to his. His hands gripped my hips and pulled me closer to him. "Are we starting now?" He said in my ear.

"No, but we can practice if you want?" I felt his hand go up the back of my shirt. He then laid me down on my back and started to kiss my neck.

"I'll take all the practice your willing to give." I just smiled and closed my eyes.
