Chapter 4

The minute I hit the water a set of arms grabbed me. I opened my eyes and I was in Cody's arms. I looked at him and pushed myself back some. "Told you the water feels great." He said with a smile. I splashed him some and we swam for a little while. We were then sitting on the beach. "Tell me about yourself April." He asked me.
"What do you want to know?"

'There's not much to tell really. I have had a pretty normal life. Once my grandfather passed away. My family wanted to move here to be closer to my grams and help her out, so now we live in her home with her and I had to give up all my friends to be here."

"I'm sorry, that must have been tough on you.”

"Yeah it was but I've got to make do with what I've got. So here I am." I said and he smiled at me.

"I like that your here."

"Your just a little charmer aren't you," I said and splashed a little water at him. He laughed at me.

"I'm not trying to be." He said. I just tilted my head at him.

"Okay, maybe a little." He said and I giggled at him.

"What about you?"

"What about me?"

"Tell me about you," I asked.

"I'm sure you have heard most of it by now." He said. I looked at him funny. I really hadn't heard that much about him at all. "You mean you haven't heard about all the secrets my family keeps. Or how we run this town and everyone in it?" He said to me. Okay so I heard that they think they run the school, but not the rest.

"Sounds all very juicy to me, tell me Cody about your family secrets," I said smiling. He smiled back at me.

"Maybe some other time. For now, I'd like for you to like me so I'll just keep my secrets to myself." He said with that sexy smile of his.

"Fair enough," I said to him. "So instead of telling me about your family. Why don't you just tell me about you." I said to him. He looked up at me and smiled.

"Okay, I'm a twin and I'm smart and I want to go to college as far away from this town as possible. I don't want to follow in my father's footsteps and I want to be my own person."

"So do that then, Cody. You can live your life any way you want to and no one can tell you otherwise."

"You think so?" He asked me. I reached out and touched his arm.

"I know so," I said to him. He just smiled and looked away from me out to the water.

"I wish that were true." He said quietly to himself, but I heard him. They must have some family secrets. I said to myself. "Anyways, come on let's go get some food. I'm starving." He said and we both jumped up and took off towards the food.

"Hey, that's my hotdog mister," I said as I playfully slapped Cody's arm. He started to laugh. So I reached over and took a bite of his hamburger.

"Bully." He said, I lost it and food fell out of my mouth.

"Gross," I said and laughed some more.

"I love to hear you laugh." He said and of course, I stopped laughing. We both looked at each other and laughed some more. "Your a lot of fun you know that April?"

"Well duh," I said and smiled. Cody just shook his head at me. I was really starting to like Cody Taylor. He just seemed so chilled and outgoing. I enjoyed the rest of the party with him and totally blew off Rosey and Bradly. I didn't mean to but I was just having so much fun with him. Rosey came walking up to me to let me know they were ready to go and they were my ride. Cody turned and looked at them.

"I could take her home," Cody said. Rosey looked at me. I turned and looked at Cody.

"I'm just going to head home with them," I said to Cody. He put his lip out at me. "It's not like you won't see me again," I said smiling at him.

"Give me your phone," Cody said and I handed him over my phone. He typed some things into my phone and then handed it back to me. "Text me." He said and I smiled at him. He wrapped his big arms around me and hugged me and then ran off. I got in the car with Rosey and Bradly.

"I'm sorry you guys," I said.

"Sorry for what?" Rosey asked me.

"For like totally ditching you guys.”

"Girl please, I'd ditch you both for one of the Taylor guys," Bradly said.

"Bradly!" I said.
"What? It's no secret that I'm bi April." He said "Besides Cody is hot." I started to laugh.

"He is kind of hot," I said.

"Bitch please," Rosey said. "That boy is fire and we all know it and he seems to like you. Plus, he is like the best one out of the three of them."

"Yeah, I don't know about Cannon, but Connor seems to like to start shit with me and Layla.”

"That's because Connor likes you to and Layla is jealous," Bradly said.

"What makes you think Connor likes me?"

"What makes you think he doesn't?" Rosey said.

"Girl he likes you trust us," Bradly said. I thought about it for a moment. I don't really know what to think. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket and I pulled it out.

"I had a good day with you today, angel face." It was from Cody.

"I did to." I hit send.

"Want to do it again?"

"Sure." I hit send.

"Do you have plans tomorrow?"

"Nope." I hit send.

"Send me your address and I'll pick you up for lunch around eleven." I sent him my address and decided to keep my little lunch date to myself.

"Hey baby, where are you off to today?" My mother asked me when I finally came down for some water.

"I have a lunch date," I said. My grams perked up.

"With who dear?" She asked me.

"Cody Taylor," I said. My grams got a smile on her face and my mom just looked at me. "What mom?" I asked her.

"Nothing, I hope you have a good time." She said. I wasn't sure if she had meant that or not. I looked at the time and Cody should be here soon.

"I'll see you guys later," I said and kissed my grams goodbye. I went on the front porch to wait for Cody. He pulled up in a big red Toyota Tundra truck.

"Hey angel face, you ready to go?" He said running up to me.

"Your in a good mood today," I said as I followed him off the porch.

"Hell yeah, the sun is shining. I get to have lunch with a beautiful girl today." He said smiling as he opened the car door for me.

"I'll bet you say that to all the girls," He just smiled and shook his head. Once I got up in the truck he closed the door and climb on the other side. "Where are you taking me?"

"To my favorite place in town. You'll love it they have the best pizza around." He said. After scoffing down my third piece of pizza and Cody going on about his football and where he wanted to go to college. His face changed when he looked just past my shoulder. I went to turn to see what he was looking at and he spoke. "I'm sorry about this." He said. I looked at him funny and turned. Layla and Connor walked in.

Connor saw us and they both headed our way. I turned back to look at Cody and he was just shaking his head. "We can leave if you want to?" Cody said before they got to us.

"Nope, we're good," I said and winked at him. He smiled at me.

"Hey, you two. Cody man I didn't know you were talking with April," Connor said.

"Hey brother, yeah we decided on some lunch today. What are you up to?" Cody said.

"Same we got hungry," Connor said. Layla just stood next to Connor with her arm tightly around him giving me dirty looks. I looked up at Connor.

"Do you two want to join us?" I asked them trying to be polite. Connor smiled at me and Layla just rolled her eyes.

"Sure if you guys don't mind," Connor said. Cody stood up and sat next to me and Connor and Layla took a seat. She wouldn't even look at me and it just made me laugh.

"What's so funny bitch?" Layla said, but before I could say a word. Connor spoke up.

"What did we talk about Layla, if your going to be a bitch you can go." He said. I bit my top lip and did my best not to smile to loud. Cody just elbows me in the side. Like he knew what I was thinking. He, on the other hand, had a smile on his face.

"Baby, she is the one being a bitch, not me." Layla pouted up at Connor.

"I don't think I said a word, other than inviting you to join us. How's that being a bitch exactly?" I said. She gave me a death stare.

"I'm telling you right now to cut it out or you can walk home." Connor snapped at her. " I swear this bitch is getting on my nerves," Connor said looking at Cody. I looked away, I had too.

"She has been on mine," Cody said. Oh my god, I said to myself. Layla looked like she was about to lose her shit.

"You know what screw you, Connor. I don't have to take this shit because of her." She said and got up and stormed out the door. Connor rolled his eyes and I just couldn't keep my mouth shut.

"Your a very lucky guy Connor," I said. He stood up and looked at me.

"Yeah, thanks." He said and followed her out the door.

"Don't worry about them. They are always like this." Cody said.

"Why in the hell would anyone be together if that's all they did?" I said. Cody just shook his head.

"I've been asking that same question." We both laugh.
"Maybe she is good in bed," I said, once again letting my mouth override my brain. Cody just looked at me and burst out in laughter.

"There you go again, amazing me with your words.”

"I'm sorry, but maybe that's why," I said smiling. I've never been one to get embarrassed easily and I tend to have a big mouth sometimes. I was no stranger to sexual things and I know how guys can be. Especially teenage boys.

"Well I don't really discuss that with my brother, but maybe your right," Cody said. "Come on angel face, let's get you home." Once we pulled up at my house. My grams was outside tending to her flowers. "Is that your grandma?"

"Yes, she is very special to me," I said. Cody smiled at me.

"Yeah we were really close with our grandparents too, but they're gone now." He said. I looked over at him.

"I'm sorry to hear that Cody. Would you like to meet her? She is very cool." I asked him. He smiled at me.

"Already wanting me to meet the family? I knew you wanted me."

"Shut up," I said and punched him in the arm. He rubbed it and laugh.

"I'm telling your grandma that your a bully."

"She knows, but okay," I said as we got out of the truck. We both walked up to her and she turned and looked at us. She stood up and smiled at Cody.

"Wow, aren't you a handsome one." She said and I smiled at her.

"Grams, I'd like for you to meet Cody Taylor. Cody this is my grams." I said. Cody stuck his hand out her.

"Hello ma'am, it's nice to meet you," Cody said.

"It's nice to meet you too son." She said. "And he is so polite too. I like that." She said. I just shook my head.
