Chapter 7

Cody wanted to take me to a movie and then dinner. It felt like a date to me and I was only wanting to get to know them, but I didn't protest. I found a cute black skirt and a nice red top to match. I left my hair down and did light makeup. The movie started at four and then we would have dinner. I waited on the front porch at three-thirty. His truck pulled in and he got out with a huge smile on his face. "Hello, Angel face how are you?" He said. I walked over to him and he kissed my cheek.

"I'm good.” He walked over and opened the truck door for me and helped me get inside.

"I'm going to have to get steps put in so you can get in and out of this beast on your own." He said as I started to put my seatbelt on.

"I kind of like you helping me in and out," I said out of nowhere. Cut it out April. I said to myself. Cody just smiled and shook his head.

"I can tell your a naughty girl April." He said. My mouth fell open.

"I am not.”

"Your not fooling anyone." I just crossed my arms and smiled. The movie he picked was a scary one and I'm not to good with them. I think he did it on purpose just so I would jump and hide in his arms. Trust me I spent most of my time in his lap. I was grateful when it was over. "No more scary movies for you. I couldn't even watch the thing with you on top of me the whole time." He said with a smile.

"It's your fault. I told you I hated scary movies." I said. "I think you wanted me in your lap.”

"Your not wrong angel face, but there is a better time and place for that." He said winking at me.

"Your horrible Cody," I said smiling at him.

"I think you like it April." In fact, I did. I really like Cody. He was very carefree and outgoing. He was really fun to be around. I also liked Connor. He was fun to be around as well, but he had a heart full of secrets and sometimes he could be standoffish and quiet. He wanted everyone to think he was this badass and most of the time he acted that way. I did feel sorry for anyone that got in the way of his angry side, but around me, he was kind and sweet. I still haven't figured out Cannon yet, but something told me I would soon. He has been a little better with me and I was grateful for that. I hated anyone who was a jerk. "So, you know I'm going to ask. How was your day with Connor?" Cody asked me.

"It was good.”

"Did he try anything with you?"

"Now I don't think that's any of your business, but no, he was a perfect gentleman. Besides he spends a lot of his time with my dad." I said.

"That's because I told him I would break his arm if he tried anything with you," Cody said. I just shook my head at him.

"I don't think Connor cares what you think.” We had Pizza and talked a lot about me. I didn't think my life was that interesting, but Cody kept asking questions.

"Cody, tell me about your family? Connor doesn't like to talk about your family," Cody looked down. I noticed that and I wondered what was so wrong about their lives?

"What do you want to know?"

"I don't know, anything. All I know is that you guys are rich and my mother dated your dad in high school." I said. Cody's mouth fell open.

"What?" He asked me. I just smiled.

"Yeah, she said they had a couple of dates.” Cody started to laugh.

"I'm sure he was a son of a bitch back then too." He said still laughing.

"There's not much to tell April. You already know my brothers. My parents are two very rich people who are never around and us boys had to mostly raise ourselves. My father is a miserable bitch and my mother, well let's just say she likes her money and her men." Cody said and then he stopped talking.

"That's awful Cody. I'm sorry." He looked up at me.

"Don't be sorry angel face. It's not your problem, but at least you can see why Connor likes your father. Connor is the oldest and my father expects a lot from him, but never has the time for him. It's refreshing to see a family bond as you have with yours." He said. I just smiled at him.

"That still sucks Cody.”

"I have moved on from it and it's why I plan on getting as far away from this place as I can. I think Connor is going to follow me, but Cannon is a different story. At least when Connor and I were growing up. We got to see some of the better side of our parents. Cannon was an accidental pregnancy. We don't think my mother ever wanted. He was always left on his own and has always been very quiet and always sticks with Connor and myself. He is very smart, smarter then Connor and myself. We also think he will be the one to follow in our father's footsteps." Cody explained to me.

"Yeah, I could tell he has some demons," I said.

"He is a good and loyal man, but your right. He does have demons and when he is battling them. It's best to stay out of his way." He said. "He doesn't trust anyone but us, and he lets everyone know how he feels when he blows." He said. I just shook my head.

"That's so sad. I'm sorry you guys have to go through that. I bet your mother would just hate me." I said. Cody smiled and looked at me.

"True." I just smiled back at him. At least that answered a lot of my questions. The Taylor brothers weren't as prized as everyone thought they were. They had their own problems just like everyone else. It was getting late and Cody pulled into my driveway. "April, I like you. I want to see more of you."

"I like you too Cody," I said. He turned his truck off and went to my side to help me out. This time instead of me just taking his hand. He grabbed me and lifted me out of his truck like I weighed nothing. He slid me down the front of his body. By instinct, I wrapped my arms around him for support. Once my feet hit the ground. I looked up at him. He still had his arms around me and my arms were around him.

"I'm having a hard time behaving at the moment Angel face." He said in a whisper. I bit my lip and the next thing I knew. His lips were on mine. The kiss turned deep and my body betrayed me as I lifted my leg and he took a hold of it. My back was pressed into his truck and his lips went to my neck and back to my lips. He felt amazing and if I was a different kind of girl. This would of went a lot further then I let it. I placed my hands on his hard chest and pushed myself back some. I tried to catch my breath. Cody rested his forehead against mine. "Your going to be my undoing angel face. I just know it." He whispered. I smiled at him.

"Goodnight Cody," I said and kissed his cheek and walked off. I stop at the top of my porch and turned to watch him leave and as my luck turned out. My grams was sitting on the porch.

"CRAP!" I yelled out. "Grams, you scared the shit out of me," I said. She just smiled.

"How was your date?" She asked me.

"It wasn't a date," I said as I took a seat next to her.

"It sure looked like one." She said. Crap she saw us kiss.

"Well, it wasn't a date. I'm just getting to know him." I said.

"And what about Connor? Are you just getting to know him to?" She asked me.

"Yes," I said.

"Let me give you a word of advice here. Be careful when it comes to brothers. Especially them brothers. The last thing you want to do is come between them." She said.

"I won't do that," I said, but the truth was, would I? I didn't think I would like them as more than friends, but I felt something close when it came to both of them. I wasn't sure what that meant yet and I wasn't willing at this moment to give them up either. I knew how Cody felt about me. That much was clear, but I wasn't sure about Connor just yet and I knew how Cannon felt the jerk. I said to myself and smiled. I couldn't help but feel bad for the boys. It sucked to know that's the kind of home they come from. At that moment I was very grateful for my family.

Monday after school. My science teacher came to me and told me I was failing. I wasnt even aware I was having a problem. Science was never a strong point for me. I don't know if I was actually having a problem. Or if it was just because it didn't interest me. "I think it would be smart to set you up with a tutor." She said. I agreed, the last thing I wanted to do my senior year, was fail. I heard the classroom door open and Cannon came walking in. Oh god, I said to myself. "This is Cannon Taylor, he is going to help you, Ms. Bloom." She said. "You two can hash out the details." She said and grabbed her things and left the room.

"Hello, Cannon," I said quietly.

"If you want this then be at the library right after school tomorrow. Don't be late or I'm out." He said and walked out of the room.

"Jerk!" I said loudly.

"I heard that." I heard him say from the hall. I just rolled my eyes. Of course, he did. Well, this should be fun. I said to myself.
