"What's happening?" Kelly asks, wheeling herself into the living room. Her heart was beating fast as she sees Dani's small body on the ground, shaking. "What's wrong with her?"
"We don't know," Kevin says, at Dani's side. "One minute she was asking for some juice and then she just collapsed."
Marc bends down towards Dani's shaking body. "Did you guys call for help?" Marc asks. Kevin nods. He places his hands onto Dani's head. "She burning up." He picks up Dani gently. "They're taking too long, I'm getting her to the hospital myself." He turns and looks at Kelly. "Me and Kevin will take her, you ride with Wyatt." Once Kelly nods in approval, Marc hurries and places Dani in the car. Kevin drives.
Softly splashing water droplets hit the car windows as Kevin drive onwards. The skies are overhung with a blanket of grey, so much so that he can barely tell the difference between the sky and clouds. He tries his best to drive fast, but also safely. Dani's body stops twitching after a couple of minutes. Her breathing was steady, but she was still burning up.
Kevin parks at the emergency entrance of the hospital. He opens the door for Marc and they both walk inside the hospital, Dani in tow. "We need help over here!" Marc yells. The nurses quickly take her from his hands and place her in a gurney. They move her someplace else and inform Marc that he cannot enter. It doesn't take long for Kelly to get to the hospital. Wyatt parks the car and helps Kelly out. He wheels her inside the hospital.
"Over here," Kevin says, getting the attention of Kelly and Wyatt. He looks around and frowns. "Where are your cousins?"
Wyatt answers for Kelly. "Simon is on his way." He says. "Dani didn't think she should come, so Levi stayed with her." Kevin nods.
"How is she? Did they say anything yet?" Kelly asks.
Marc takes her hand and kisses it. "We don't know anything yet. They just took her."
Kelly sighs. "What do you think is wrong with her? Do you think she'll be okay?
Marc places his hand over her shoulder. "I don't know baby, but we're gonna figure it out."
Raymond sits at the driver's seat of his Escalade, licking his vanilla ice cream cone. Classical music plays throughout the car, which pleases him. Casie looks at him then back to his phone. He sighs, causing Raymond to roll his eyes. "What's your problem cagna?" Raymond asks.
Casie shakes his head. "Nothing sir."
Raymond pulls out his gun and aimed it at Casie. "Tell me what you're thinking about." He says. "I'm your boss I should know."
Casie gulps. "Nothing boss, it's just... do we really have to do this?" Casie says, nervously. "She's just a little girl, we shouldn't harm kids."
Raymond nods, taking his gun off of safety. "You know Casie, it sounds like you're questioning my actions. I don't like when people question my actions, it makes me feel like I'm crazy." Raymond cocks the gun back. "I don't like feeling like I'm crazy."
"I'm... I'm sorry sir." Cassie stutters.
Raymond rolls his eyes, putting down his gun. "It's alright buddy." Raymond sighs. "I'm not going to kill the girl, I just need her mother to come with me," Raymond explains. "I don't kill children. No harm will come to neither of them."
Casie frowns. "Sir why do you want Kelly so bad?" He asks. "Why do you hate Marc?"
Raymond glares at him. "Not your concern Casie. Mind your business." Is the only thing he says to him. Raymond leans back in his seat, letting out a breath. Everything was taking too long. He wanted to get it over with.
"Sir, they just brought her to the hospital," Casie informs.
Raymond smiles. "Good." He responds. Everything was happening just the way he planned.
"Are you the parents of the little girl that was brought in?" A doctor asks approaching us.
"Yes, her name is Dani," Marc says standing up. "Have you found out what's wrong with her?"
The doctor clears her throat, pushing her strawberry blond hair out of her face. "Your daughter has respiratory syncytial virus or RSV for short." The doctor informs. "We are trying our best to get her fever down and her hydrated, but it's not looking all too well right now."
Kelly frowns. "Why is that doctor?"
"Dani doesn't have a typical case of RSV. If she did, all I would have to do is give her some antibiotics and she'd be cured." The doctor explains. "Now for Dani's case, it looks like she was injected with the virus." She says. "And not as a one-time thing, from the looks of her arm, she's been injected a lot of times."
Kelly gasps. "Is there a cure or a way to help her?"
The doctor shakes her head. "We are still running some tests to see what we can do, but for now... no there isn't a cure."
Tears trace down Kelly's face, Marc sees this and hugs her. Marc sighs already knowing who it was that did this to Dani. "We're gonna get through this."
Kelly shakes her head no. "We're not going to Marc. He planned this." Kelly says. "This is his way of making me go to him."
Marc pinches the bridge of his nose. "I know."
Kevin frowns. "Wait who's doing all this? And why?"
Wyatt leans forward to his ears. "Come on, I'll explain everything to you." They both walk away, leaving Kelly and Marc alone.
"I have to go to him," Kelly says, looking at her shoes. "Dani is my world and I can't lose her again. I love you with all my heart, but I can't lose Dani again."
Marc nods slowly, hearing what she was saying. He understood where she was coming from, it just pained him to hear it. "I understand Kelly." He says, cutting her off. "Dani is your daughter and she has to be your number one priority. And as much as it kills me to say it, but this is the only way we can save her." Marc bites his lips. "You'll go to him and get the cure and after that, I'll get you and Dani far away from him."
"What if he hurts you?" Kelly asks. "I don't want you to get hurt... I don't want anyone getting hurt."
"I won't get hurt, no one will get hurt."
"You don't know that," Kelly whispers.
"I do," Marc reassured. "Everything is going to be alright and we're all going to be okay." Marc pulls out his phone and clears his throat. "Call him, let him know that you're going to him."
Kelly nods, before wiping her tears. She lets out a breath, before dialing the number. Marc gets up to go get some air. The phone rings for a few seconds before someone answers. "Marc my boy, I didn't think you'd call so soon."
"This isn't Marc Raymond," Kelly informs.
Raymond felt his ears perk up, he didn't expect for Kelly to be the one to call. He chuckles. "Kelly, I'm glad to hear from you. What can I do for you?"
Kelly glares through the phone. "Shut up Raymond, you already know what you can do for me."
"Feisty, I like that on my woman," Raymond says smirking. "You have one hour to get all your things packed. I'll send an ambulance to get your daughter and they'll transport her to my home. You'll be riding with me, therefore after you're done packing meet me at the nearest gas station by your friends Wyatt house."
"Alright." Kelly answers.
"Don't be late piccolo orso," Raymond says, before hanging up.
Kelly sighs putting the phone down. Marc walks to her. "What'd he say?"
"I have an hour to pack. He's transporting Dani to a local hospital on his side and he's waiting for me at the nearest gas station by Wyatt's house."
Marc nods. "Alright, let's get you home." Lord knows he didn't want her to do this, but it had to be done.
It was still raining as Marc wheeled Kelly up Wyatt's home. The sunset was now long gone, leaving only with a starless sky. Puffs of grey clouds had swooped into the air like an armed patrol and had surrounded the moon from all sides. There was nothing more it could do but sit and wait for itself to be completely engulfed by its attackers.
"You okay?" Kelly asks Marc.
"No." He answers truthfully.
She was going to say something, but she was interrupted by the house door swinging open. "Thank god you're home, I thought you left already," Simon says giving her a hug.
Kelly chuckles slightly, she loved her cousin. "You crazy, I can't leave without saying goodbye to you Simon," Kelly says, causing Simon to smile.
"I knew I was your favorite cousin." He says, pulling her into the house. "I have something for you." Marc shuts the door to the house as Simon takes Kelly to the living room. Simon gets out a small box and pulls out two things from it. "These are tracking devices." He says. "One of them is an earing, so it isn't noticeable and the other one is in your engagement ring."
Kelly smiles a little. "Thank you, Simon." She says putting on the earrings. "When did you get my ring? I had it on before I left."
"No you didn't, it fell off your finger while you were crying. I picked it up."
"Thank you," Kelly says once again.
"It's what cousins are for."
Kelly nods. "I'm gonna go start packing." Kelly wheels herself into her room. She starts taking her clothes out of the drawer and strays placing them into the suitcase. She hears a knock at her door before someone opens the door.
"Can I come in?" Diana asks, standing by the door.
"Sure," Kelly says, still packing.
Diana walks forward to the bed. "I heard the news," Diana says. "I wish there was another way."
Diana sighs. "Kelly you're my only cousin, I don't want there to be bad blood between us."
"There isn't Diana, there was never bad blood between us," Kelly admits. "You've done too much for me, for there to ever be bad blood between us."
Diana nods, wiping at her tears. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to be crying. It's just these stupid hormones." Diana says. Kelly smiles and hugs her.
"It's alright, I know what you mean." She pulls away from the hug, and Diana helps her pack. "Ever since my mom died, things haven't been the same in my life," Kelly says. "Good things don't really happen to me as often." Kelly looks at her engagement ring. "Take care of Marc for me, please. Marc and the other guy." Kelly says, she could feel herself about to cry. "Their gonna blame themselves for this and their gonna need someone to sat it wasn't their fault."
Something in the way Kelly said that, sounded like it had a double meaning to it. "Why does it sound like your saying goodbye... for forever?"
"I'm not." Kelly force's herself to smile. "Just watch over them for me." Kelly zips up her suitcases. "I'm ready." She says, before opening the door. Diana carries both suitcases as they walk to the living room. All the guys were standing, looking at her sadly. "You guys look horrible," Kelly says, trying to cheer them up. They smile a little. "I love you guys and once Dani is cured I'll be back."
"We love you too, kels," Wyatt says. Marc takes the bags from Dani and walks them to the car. Kelly follows behind him. Once Marc was done, he helps Kelly into the car. They drive off.
It doesn't take them long to reach the gas station. Marc parks the car in front of the big black Escalade, he already had a feeling it would be Raymond's car. He helps Kelly out the car and pulls out her suitcase.
Raymond steps out the car. "I'm glad you both can make it." He says. "Casie come get Kelly's bags."
Casie steps out the car with a glare on his face. He sizes Marc, before walking towards him. "I see you made it out alive." Casie comments.
Marc shrugs. "It feels good to be alive," Marc says. "How does it feel to know you won't be alive soon?" Casie visibly gulps. He says nothing, only takes Kelly's bag and puts them in the truck.
"It's time to go piccolo orso," Raymond says, smirking.
Kelly rolls her eyes and looks up at Marc. Marc doesn't waste any time pulling her into a kiss. He kisses her and the world fell away. It was slow and soft, comforting in ways that words would never be. His hand rested below her ear, his thumb caressing her cheek as their breaths mingle. Kelly runs her fingers down his spine, pulling him closer until there was no space left between them and she could feel the beating of his heart against her chest.
"Times up!" Raymond shouts. "Let's go!"
Kelly pulls away from Marc and smiles at him. "I love you."
"Me too baby," Marc says. Kelly wheels herself to the car and Casie helps her in. Marc looks at the car worriedly.
Raymond sees this and smile. "No need to worry Marc, I'll take good care of her." Marc balls up his fist, causing Raymond to chuckle. "Bye." He taunts. Raymond gets in the car and drives off. Marc sighs, getting into his car with only one thing in mind,
Getting his girls back safely.
