3rd Person POV
(New Orleans, Louisiana)
“She told them. They’re onto us.” Adrian told his sisters as he hung up the phone after listening to a voicemail from their mother.
“When do we leave?” Rose asked impatiently.
“I honestly didn’t think we’d make it this far,” Sabine admitted.
“And why’s that?”
Sabine smiled, shrugging on her backpack and picking up her other bags, causing Rosalie and Adrian to do the same.
“I thought Rose would’ve blown it by now.”
Rose rolled her eyes. “Well, I didn’t, so what now Sabine?”
“Well, I’ve always wanted to go to Barcelona,” she replied as they walked through the door of their hotel room.
“So Spain it is then,” Adrian said as they stepped onto the elevator and pushed the down button.
“Go wait for me by the door,” Sabine ordered once they’d arrived on the first floor. They did as she said while she walked over to the front desk to check out.
“Hi, I’m checking out of room 305,” Sabine told the guy at the desk.
He nodded, taking the room keys from her.
“Oh, and could you do something else for me?”
“What?” The guy asked rudely.
“When a teenage girl named Karina comes in with two adults, give them this,” she said, sliding an index card to him.
“You’re no longer a guest here, and I’m not a mailman.”
“I understand that, but I’m sure we can come to an understanding.”
She smiled seductively, making the clerk stand a little taller, and slid three hundred dollar bills across the desk to him.
“Are you bribing me?”
“No. I’m simply paying you for your extra services. I know how much of a hassle giving someone a note is when you have nothing else to do in your worthless life, so here.”
“Oh, um, okay…”
“Oh, and, Carl, if it’s not done, I’ll know,” Sabine warned, winking at him and walking over to her siblings.
“Is everything okay?” Rose asked once Sabine had reached them by the door.
“Is it done?” Adrian whispered.
Sabine smiled, the ever-present glint of mischief shining clearly in her eyes. “Yes, Adrian. The game has officially begun.”
