After Sean and I finished up this morning, I quickly made my way to my apartment, rushing in to be greeted with both the hair stylist and Liam. Ruby and Gemma must have still been asleep or something because they were no where in sight. Setting into a chair, the hair lady went to work immediately while Liam questioned where I was. I don't plan on hiding my news from him, but I know at this point if I tell him, I will never be able to relax before the wedding.
Sean and I had both agreed to tell Evan once the wedding is over. I mean I did invite him to it, so maybe we can just drag him off and tell him the news. I'm nervous to see his reaction to the pregnancy, but a part of me hopes he will either love the idea of becoming a father and we can be perfect at co-parenting if it is his, or want nothing to do with it. I say that because if he wants nothing to do with it, if it is his that is, then Sean can just be known as the father. Not step-father. However, knowing Evan like I do, I know he would want to be involved if it is his child. That is just the kind of man he is. He is big on family, even though he barely has one. He always talked positively about his.
Before long, I was dressed and looking like a princess. My makeup was done, hair curled and pinned up in places with a small tiara. My dress was tight around my bust and then flared out in a cinderella style. I looked beautiful. I looked like a bride. Liam hugged me tightly. "Babes, are you ready for this? No cold feet?" I shook my head. I'm not even very nervous and I think it is because I am about to marry the love of my life. Liam, squeezed my hand just as Ruby and Gemma finished dressing and approached us. "Eek! I'm so excited! You're getting married today, Ava! And you look gorgeous!" Gemma squealed with Ruby's agreement following.
Smiling at all of my friends, tears threatening to fall as emotions ran through me. I never would have pictured this. Being the first one out of us four to be getting married. Being so happy with everything and everyone surrounding me, satisfied with how my life had taken a turn for the better. I pulled all of them into a group hug before we filed out, piling into the car to make the short drive to the garden where everything was set up and prepared. Walking in, my mother was coming my way, I smiled at her. I watched as her eyes teared up, and she took my hands in hers. "You look beautiful, Ava." I thanked her while giving her a light hug. She just got in from Beijing. She wrapped my arm around hers, giving my hand a light squeeze. "Are you ready?" I notice that I'm not as vocal today but I nodded at her in confirmation. Maybe it was the nerves. I didn't think that I was nervous but maybe I am a bit.
The music began, and Ruby and Gemma made there way down the isle, followed by Liam who shot me one last wink before turning and making his way down with the girls. The music changed, symbolizing the entrance of the bride, me. I took a deep breath in before my mother started the march down the isle. My eyes immediately found Sean's, watching as his eyes teared up at the sight of me in a wedding dress. I smiled shyly at him, sure that my eyes are watering as well. He looked so handsome in his all white tuxedo. He looked like an angel, which is ironic because, to me, he is exactly that. He is the angel that was sent to show me what love is, to save me before I could completely ruin myself.
Once we reached the end of the isle, my mother hugged me before placing my hand in Sean's outstretched one. He leaned into me, speaking softly. "I'm so damn lucky. You look radiant, my love." He turned to the officiant and the ceremony started. He spoke beautifully, reading off versus from the Bible, and lovely words. When it came to the vowels, Sean went first. "Ava, from the moment I saw you I knew that you were special. I knew that I had to get you for myself, some way, some how. Everything about you entranced me, but the timing wasn't right, so I had to let you go. Thankfully, you reentered my life a few months ago, and I knew it was time. Time to make you mine. I cannot express enough how grateful I am that you actually gave me a shot. Like many other people, I thought you were completely out of my lead. Who could have guessed that you would have fell for a guy like me." He pauses as a round of chuckles came from the audience, mostly his family and friends who knew him well. "Ava, I promise to protect you, to provide for you. I know you are independent but I hope you know that I am here for you. I also promise to always show you the love that you deserve, and try my very hardest to be the man that is worthy of you. No matter where life leads, I know that as long as you are there, it is where I am meant to be. I love you and I promise to do so for the rest of my days."
"Awes" and sniffles could be heard by the crowd. I was completely taken aback by his beautiful words, sobbing. Trying my hardest to regain some control over myself because it is now my turn to speak. Clearing my throat as Sean wiped my tears with his thumbs, smiling down at me lovingly. Liam tried to hand me the speech that I had prepared but I waved it off, thinking it was better to just speak from the heart.
"Sean, how can I say anything that will top that?" I question, as another round of laughter went through the crowd and Sean smiled, showing off his perfect pearly whites. "I can't promise you the world, because it is not mine to give. I can't tell you that it will be smooth sailing because things are bound to go wrong in one way or another. I'm human, we mess up. But what I can promise you, is that I will be there by your side, through every obstacle, every bump in the road. I will stand with you, whether sunshine or pouring rain. I will not leave you when you are in need. I will be that shoulder for you to cry or laugh on. I will be the pillar that you lean on for support, for strength. But most importantly, I will love you with every beat of my heart. I see these vowels, not as a promise, but a privilege. I get to laugh and cry with you, care for you and share with you. I get to build and live with you. I get to have you be the person I spend the rest of my life with. I don't have to honor and cherish you, I get to."
But the end of my little speech, Sean has pulled me into his chest while the officiant continues. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may kiss the bride!" And Sean wastes no time in smashing his lips to mine, in the most loving kiss we have ever shared, bounding our lives, our souls together.
