Summary

“Oh, come on darling, you make it sound like I’m the terrible one. You know it, we are made for each other. He… was just a distraction. For you, I’ll spare him” he said pointing at him disgustedly. He knew this is the only chance at getting back her in whole. Lowell might have got her heart and also something precious, her first, but he was going to make him completely disappear from her mind, heart and soul. And probably from this universe too. He thought with a smug smirk on. His darkness knew no limits. But he wanted to change, just for her. Even if letting go his darkness is the cost for it. He was excited. She was his key to redemption. While she was not sure about the settlement she made with this psycho, but definitely had resolved that if the time comes and she couldn’t make him see the light in his heart by then, she was going to do what she should have done way back. KILL HIM.

Life is worth more than love..

“love? Seriously? There isn’t anything as such. It’s just an illusion which I am going to break.” Arlo said menacingly while scraping the skin off from Lowell’s knees. He’s had his uncertainty, but he also knew this man’s life is in his hand and there’s nothing he can steal from him. He is undefeatable.

Excruciating Pain was scoring through his whole body, blinding his mind from his surroundings. All the sane thoughts had vanished from his brain except one thought. Her. The girl whom he loves. The Only thing that matters. Only person who’s worth all these sufferings.

“you w-will never know what love is. Mmgh…Because you’ve never been loved by anyone.”

“Hahaha… you think she’s in love? with you? Oh, you poor thing. No matter she wishes for it or not, there has always been only one man in her life. Guess who... of course me!!” Arlo laughed mocking his naïve feelings.

“if only you could get that dense head out of your arse to see you are nothing for her. You shared a relation of fear with her. She was only scared of you.” Lowell retorted.

There was nothing more aggravating for Arlo than Mel being scared of him. He always did what he thought she wants. Yet she never appreciated his efforts at pleasing her.

“what! did! you! say??!” Arlo tried controlling his voice which by now was already laced with the darkness inside. If his voice was no alarm, he reddish eyes definitely were. At this point, Lowell was playing with fire. But his mind wanted to spit all the venom he had saved for this Deranged man.

“Don’t you get it? You were the monster she was running away from when I met her. She had accepted that it’s her. I was the one who gathered her broken mind and what’s left of sanity. How do you even live with yourself after shattering her soul- “Arlo kicked Lowell’s stomach repeatedly before he could finish.

“Did you touch her?” Arlo’s mind was filled with her and Lowell doing things she never allowed him to. Lowell’s blank face was edging him more and more. He knew she would never do it with someone else. He knew sooner or later they are going to get back together like before. But Lowell’s silence was shattering his dreams. It was making him question his importance in her life. Though there was a small part of him hoping whatever he’s reading from this man is a lie and what he thinks about her is true. But the truth in his eyes was just like that nagging old grandma who’s always right and unavoidable.

“I asked you a question. Did you sleep with her? Yes or no?” Arlo pressed on his wound restless to get an answer. He was about to twist the knife, when Lowell attempted to open his mouth…

“yes...” that did it. The final nail on his coffin. Arlo had already made up his mind, that small voice in his head asking him to show mercy had also gone silent. All his attempt at trying to be normal like others for her was fading with his one word.

How could she let him do... do that. After all this time with him in her life? Even being loyal to this one woman. His woman was taken away by this Asswipe.

Lowell was not aware of the turmoil against him in Arlo’s mind. He could only see the distress Arlo was in, which for some reason wavered his lips into a small smile.

Arlo agitated state got the worst of him and he raised the dagger to give him the last stroke of quietus. Just when he was going to end him, the door burst open.

There she was standing under the only light hanging in this dark room. Lowell would have been dead if she had showed up even a second later. Arlo’s heart gleamed with hope again at the sight of her. But her eyes were set on the man sprawled lifelessly on the chair. His weak body after weeks of torture was left with nothing but blood oozing from every inch of what used to be his skin except face. Which Arlo had left purposely for her to see?

“Mellie yo- “

“yes” before Arlo could say anything, Mel said it. Something he never thought she would without any of his tricks.

“yes. I am willing to spend the rest of the life with you…. If you spare his life. No conditions, no attempts at murder. Just me with complete loyalty. All I ask of you is to let him go. Please.” She sounded broken all over again. She fell on her knees with moist eyes

Lowell couldn’t believe her word. Even though his body was screaming to surrender he hadn’t let Arlo get him to let go of her. They were together in this. He thought. But now, he felt utterly helpless. All the bruises he condoned for her, all this blood he lost was futile.

“no Mel, don’t- “

“Don’t. Lowell I’ve made up my mind. This is all I can do for you. I don’t deserve you.” She said defeatedly which left no room for argument.

“Oh, come on darling, you make it sound like I’m the terrible one. You know it, we are made for each other. He… was just a distraction. For you, I’ll spare him” he said pointing at him disgustedly.
