•Make Him Pay•

"Then why did you overdose?"

"It wasn't my choice. There was this man... Zavier? Zach? Zelan?"

Now my anger shows. "That fish. I promise you, he's going to pay for this. I'm going to make him pay for this! I–"

"Raven. Don't. You'll only regret it later. Just stay with me for now. Please? Be a friend?"

"I'm sorry, Julia. I have to go."

"Wait. Raven," she clings to my arm.

"Let me go."

"No! I won't let you go!"

"Too flipping bad!" I yell, before ripping my wrist from her grip.

I teleport to Zelon's world and sneak up behind him. My arm wraps around his neck, my other arm with a knife almost touching his eye.

"WHY DID YOU HURT HER?" I yell, shaking from anger.

"What did I do? Who? Are you crazy? Get off me!"

"You know what you did! You made her overdose!"

"How would I even affect her? I don't have the bracelet!"

He's right. If not him, then who?

At that moment, I feel a gun press against my spine.

"It was me."

Shoot. Not literally.

"Hello, Hayden. Long time, no see," I turn around slowly, careful not to upset him.

"Calm down. I'm not going to hurt you too badly."

"As if. Why did you hurt her?" I question him.

"You don't even want to know how?"

This fish.

"Are you going to tell me if I ask?" I growl.

"Down, boy. Yes. Ask away."

I fudging swear...

"How did you affect her?"

"That's none of your business."

That's it.

In just a couple seconds, I teleport home, grab my bat, come back, and hit him in the back of the head with it. Or, try to. He catches the bat. And breaks it.

"There. Now it's sharper," he hands me the broken half.

"I–" I just stare at the bat for a moment. That was my step dad's bat.

"What? Did Hayden hurt your feelings?" he pouts in a baby voice.

I try to punch him again. This time, I hit him in the gut. I teleport him to the Underworld, just in case I need help. He kicks me between the legs. I grunt, but I try not to show too much pain. People start to gather around us, when I see one all-too-familiar face.

Julia?

"YOU KILLED HER!" I lash out at Hayden. Almost as if I'm not the one doing it, I reach out my hand and twist my wrist. His head twists very quickly, and I hear a bone cracking.

CRRRRAAAACK.

"Good to know how much you love her," a man's voice calls from the crowd. The voice comes from who I thought was Julia. He's just a shapeshifter.

"Raven? In my office, NOW." Ghost parts the crowd faster than Moses parted the red sea.

"So you forgot him?" Karma stands behind Ghost. I've explained everything time and time again, but they won't accept it. Ghost thinks I lied to him. As for Karma? No idea.

"I told you before, I don't know how I did it. One second he was fine, and the next, he was Forgotten on the ground! Why won't you believe me?"

"Raven, I believe you," Ghost finally speaks again. As if.

"Then why do you keep questioning me?" I start to get hangry.

"Because I want to see if you got any memories back during that fight."

"What memories?! I don't understand!"

"Karma, leave us, please."

"But sir, I–"

"Karma, don't make me ask again."

She leaves.

"Raven, what do you remember from your death day?"

"I was walking alone when this guy with a hockey mask came and attacked me. The end."

"I need more detail, Raven."

Stop saying my name so much.

"Fine. I was walking to Pizza Hut to meet up with Zoe and the others when this guy attacked me. He pushed me into a dark alley and shot me. Michael picked me up, and I was fine."

"Are you sure that's it?"

"Yeah." My throat starts to hurt. That unfamiliar feeling I get before crying.

"Well, it's not."

My world starts to fall apart. What did he– or she, for that matter– do to me? What don't I remember?

"Are you ready for me to tell you what happened?" He almost whispers the question, indicating that it's obviously nothing good.

"Um..."

No.

"Yeah."

"Well–"

"Raven! Oh, hunny, are you okay?" Jess bursts through the door.

"Yeah. I'm fine, Jess."

"Jess, leave us," Ghost rubs his temple.

"Actually, I want her to stay," I smile at him.

"Are you sure? It's not a pleasant story," Ghost tilts his head like a dog does when they hear a squeaky toy.

"Yeah," I stand and grab Jess' hand. She follows me back to Ghost's desk and sits beside me.

"As I was saying, after you were corrupted, you lost a lot of your memory. Including how you died. Or rather, what happened before you died."

I was right.

"Your killer was also Hayden. He did some unthinkable things to you. Yes, he shot you, but that was after multiple stab wounds and burns. When Michael picked you up, Hayden had already hidden your body, which is why you only remember being shot.

"While in the Overworld, you were kidnapped, we don't know by who, and they performed a series of experiments on you. A lot of them worked. One of those experiments is the reason you have the ability of mind. Another experiment is the reason you have the ability of body manipulation."

"Body manipulation? Like blood control?" I'm suddenly snapped back into reality and lose my train of thought.

"It's more than just blood. It's bones, veins, nerves, cells. Anything that has something to do with the body."

"Holy shitzu. You're powerful!" Jess gasps.

"I guess so," I confirm.
