Chapter 64

While I sat on my bed looking out the window Brian came in and spoke to me.

"Can I ask you something?" He asked. I didn't look away from the window.

"Yes." I replied.

"Back then, did you use drugs?"

I guess when Detective Wich said my parents were here he really meant they were watching.

"Yeah." I answered. "Just a little bit. Not enough to get addicted."

"Why?" He asked.

"I had to go with whatever my client was doing if I wanted to get paid." I said.

Brian took a pause.

"I'm sorry." He said.

I shook my head.

Once again everything moved forward. Went to school, saw Evie and Indra, went home, went to school, saw Evie and Indra, went home.

Same cycle it's all very tedious.

On a Friday Indra snagged Evie and I and took us to a café.

We ordered milkshakes, coffee, and other sugary products.

I sat slouched over with my hand on my cheek and rolled a tiny sugar crystal around the plate.

I heard Evie sigh, "you're bored again."

"Mm." I grunted.

"I wonder why that happens so quickly." Evie said.

I didn't say anything. I glanced at Indra. He sat perfectly still and grinned at us with narrow eyes.

"You won't eat the cinnamon bun?" I asked him.

"I've never had something so sugary."

I smiled.

"Try it." I encouraged. Indra hunched his shoulders and picked up the cinnamon bun and took a bite.

He gasped deeply and sucked in his cheeks as one eye partially closed.

"Oh." I said. Evie cringed and covered her mouth. Indra let out a sharp exhale.

I leaned forward and reached for the bun, "maybe that's enough."

"Mm!" He grunted as he turned his body away from me.

I sat back.

Indra turned and put the bun on the plate. "It's not...bad." He said in a small voice, covering his mouth. "Just really sweet."

"Okay..." Evie and I sighed.

She leaned against the table, "it's been a long time since we've all sat like this. Had a conversation."

"So...let's share interesting facts with each other!" She grinned widely.

Indra looked at her confused. She sipped on her iced coffee.

"I once did a line of coke off a guy's dick."

Coffee came out of Evie's nostrils and the two turned to me with their mouths open. I tilted my head and smiled briefly.

"Wow. You really went for it." Evie said. "Just, said the first thing that came to mind." She wiped her nose and coughed.

"So how did that work? Did you snort for a while?" She asked. Haha. A bit curious, are we?

"Honestly I was tripping for a while." I said.

I looked at Indra. He was still looking at me like that was the craziest thing I did.

"Why are you like this?" He asked. I snorted.

"Don't act like you're such a saint! I bet you got up to all sorts of trouble!" I said.

Evie looked at Indra curiously. He frowned.

He pointed at me, "you'll love this one."

"Mm." I said, interest piqued.

He lowered his voice. "I may or may not have banged David Bowie."

I widened my eye.

"You two..." Evie rubbed her hands up her temples and chuckled. Guess she wasn't expecting all this.

Indra banged the palm of his hand on the table as he spoke, "oh. My. God." He laughed. He was blushing hard and smiling like crazy. "Just thinking about it is making me go- ha! Whoooo."

It's rare to see Indra so excited. He never got that excited about...me.

I sat up straight and stared at him. Normally I'd be going crazy, but in this moment I just hate David Bowie.

Indra turned to Evie.

"Your turn."

"Are you kidding me? Nothing I've done is interesting compared to you two!"

I chuckled, but couldn't help but frown. I was stuck on that other thing and zoned out of the conversation.

"Am I not exciting?" I thought. "I'm not as wild as I used to be. Is that not enough to satisfy him?"

"He did mention having more stamina. Does he not get enough pleasure from me? Or am I not trying hard enough?"

"Luc? Luc." Evie's voice called.

"Hm?" I answered.

"It's your turn." She said.

"Um...maybe we could put a pin in this?" I stood up and looked at Indra. "I'm feeling kind of sick. Can you take me home?"

"Yeah." He answered. They stood up and we left.

While Indra and I were in the car I rested my head and stared out the window.

"What's wrong?" Indra asked. Of course. It didn't take him long to notice.

I wet my lips and mumbled, "nothing."

On Saturday Indra snatched us up and took us to Carowinds. Evie drove herself.

"I don't want to be walking around in this heat." I groaned.

"Come on Luc! You suggested the amusement park." Indra said as we went through the gates.

I huffed.

It's not that I didn't want to be around them, I just wanted to wallow in self-deprecating questions I'll never know the answer to.

I looked at Indra's back. He looks as happy as can be. Evie just followed his lead. Indra led us by the nose.

"That one's called Intimidator!" He pointed as he headed towards the ride. "It can't be that scary!"

I looked down and shook my head.

"Indra, if you've never ridden a rollercoaster before I don't think you should start with one with a big drop." I said.

"I'll be fine." He blew me off. I sighed. Evie grinned at me.

"He knows what he's doing." She said. Does he though?

Once we were on the ride Indra let out one scream then tried to raise the bar keeping us down.

"No!" I screamed and pushed on his hands.

I mean, I guess if he jumped off he'd be okay.

"I told you it was a bad idea." I scolded Indra once we got off the ride.

"Alright." He said lowly. He stood doubled over.

Evie stepped in. "We should go on the easier rides."

So we went on the less balls-in-your-stomach rides. While we did it seemed like Indra reverted to his "kid side."

We went on a ride that just swung side to side. I just sat there completely unimpressed.

"Wow!" Indra ran over to an outdoor store. Evie went with him while I stayed behind. "That cup is huge! How do they get it so big?"

I looked away and shielded my face because people looked confused. To them Indra's a teenager acting like a kid.

"I ain't affiliated with that." I whispered.

"Look!" Indra said later at another outdoor store. "They put candy in those long straws! How do they do that?"

"It's just flavored sugar." Evie explained. I walked with my face shielded.

"Please, don't give him any!" I thought.

Once we were at a game with large stuffed animals Indra damn near went insane.

"It's huge!" He was talking about a large stuffed bear. He turned to the clerk.

"How much for the bear?" He asked eagerly.

"Indra you have to earn it." Evie explained. The clerk nodded.

"Fine. I shall!" Indra said. I rolled my eye.

He really doesn't know those games are rigged. While Indra gave the clerk a ticket I turned and snuck away.

I sat on a bench seemingly far from the other two.

Maybe Indra just annoyed me. I don't know.

"I really just want to go back home." I whispered. "Maybe I just hate amusement parks."

People were screaming along with the roars of the rollercoasters. I covered an ear. I can't take it anymore. All this noise.

"Luuuuc!" I jumped. I turned my head. Indra was running toward me with a stick of pink cotton candy in his left hand.

"Look." He said when he reached me. "Feathered sugar!" He smiled happily.

He held a piece in his fingers. "It's so sticky." He moved his fingers as the candy dissolved. I just stared emptily.

Indra finally looked at me. "What is it?"

I saw Evie waddling over to us with the big bear from before on her back. Okay, he won the bear.

"I know you didn't want to get cotton candy on the bear, but don't leave me behind." Evie groaned. She held the bear in front of her and sat down.

"We should go on another ride." Indra smiled a little. Evie nodded.

"You guys go." I said. "I'll watch the stuff."

"You sure?" Evie asked.

"Yeah." I said quietly.

Evie hunched her shoulders and handed me the bear. She got up and left with Indra.

God, I must look so stupid right now.

About an hour later the two came back. Evie's hair and part of her shirt was wet.

I was back to staring emptily.

"Luc there was a waterfall and it hit Evie!" Indra laughed. I didn't find it funny so I didn't say anything. Then, of course, there was an awkward silence.

Indra spoke. "Uh, listen. I have to go."

He looked at Evie. She nodded with a sad look in her eyes. Indra looked at me. I looked away.

Indra walked past me. I turned around and watched him leave.

"He left his bear." I stated dryly.

Evie whacked me on the arm.

"You idiot! He won that for you. And you treated him like crap!" She snapped.

"Why are you acting like that?" She fussed.

I looked down. "I don't know... Maybe I was struggling to..." I mumbled.

"I thought you'd be happy to hang out with him?" Evie asked.

"What are you talking about?"

"You know he's leaving, right?"

I looked at her. "What do you mean "leaving?!"

I burst through Indra's door. I didn't see him. I turned around. There were pet carriers stacked on top of each other against the wall. The cats were all in one asleep. Oh...

"Indra?" I called. I went into his bedroom. Empty. The bedding was gone and so was his stuff.

I ran to the bathroom. Same thing.

I backed out, shuddering. Where is he? He can't just leave!

I turned around slowly and he was there. I gasped. He stared at me in shock.

"You're leaving?!" I questioned. "Why did I have to hear it from Evie?"

"When were you going to tell me? When it was at the last minute and I couldn't do anything?"

Indra stayed quiet while I freaked out on him.

"You can't leave us Indra! Why would you?"

Indra's expression shifted.

"You know I don't age. My face, my body, it won't change." He said. I shook my head. I already know this stuff.

"People will start to notice." He explained. "So after a few years I move."

I shook my head again, stammering, "when would you be back?"

"I won't."

"No, you can't..." I said lowly. I see why he was hanging out with us; he was saying his goodbyes.

"You can't just leave us! Like it doesn't matter. You can't do that." I stepped closer to him, ready to grab on to him.

"I have to."

"You said you wouldn't leave again."

"That was different. I meant I wouldn't leave when you needed me." But I do need you.

"What about us? You're just going to abandon your relationships here?"

"I have to." He repeated.

"No..." I whimpered and lowered my head. He can't go! He can't go! He can't go!

"But you're Evie's best friend. Evie will-"

"Evie understands why I'm doing this."

Tears welled up. He's really serious.

"Please." I said.

"Vampires try to limit humans knowing about our existence." Indra stated.

I looked up at him.

"What about me!"

Indra tilted his head.

"What about me?!" I shouted and started sobbing. He widened his eyes for a second.

"You can't- just what about me?"

I grabbed on to his wrists.

"Luc," he tried to calm me down.

"No, Indra! What about me?" I cried. I was red in the face and tears fell.

"You keep talking about everything and everyone else!"

"Please you can't leave!" He grabbed on to my wrists and pulled us back.

"Indra! You're a big piece of my life!" I sobbed. "If you're gone- if you're gone, then the broken pieces of my life won't fit together anymore!"

He sat down on the couch and sat me down on his lap. He tried to hug me but I fought against him.

"So please! Just stay!" I shouted. "Stay for me!"

He grabbed onto my arms and pulled me to his chest. I cried on him. "Okay." He breathed.

"Okay?" I sobbed.

"Okay." He said again. I shuddered in relief and sat up to look at him. He smiled a little.

He reached up and moved my hair from my eye. He held my face and wiped my tears. Once again he pulled me to him. I put my face in his neck and put my arms around him.

I sat up and looked in his eyes.

"I'm sorry for being a jerk today." I said.

"Why was that?" He asked.

"...I don't know." I mumbled. Just lying about my feelings of being inadequate.

"We smell like the metal of the rollercoasters." Indra stated.

I nodded. It was faint but I could smell it. To him it was probably like putting his nose right on a rollercoaster.

"You should use the shower first." He said.

I didn't say anything. Indra looked at my hand; I was still holding on to him.

"I won't leave if you let me go."

I climbed off of him and stood up. I let go of him and he stood up.

"Go on. I have things to do around here."

He pushed me gently and I left to go to the bathroom.

When I got out of the shower my clothes were gone. "Oh not again."

I looked at the counter. There was a folded pajama shirt and pants. I dried off and put on the pajamas.

Noises came from Indra's bedroom. I went in and the bed was made and his closet door was open and full of his clothes and shoes. I sighed with relief quietly.

"Hey," he called as he came into the room. "I'm going to shower now, so you just relax."

"Okay." I said quietly. He went into the bathroom and closed the door. I dried my hair the best I could.

I sat down on the bed and got under the covers. I closed my eye.

I woke up when I felt eyes on me. Indra laid beside me watching me.

"You know, you could be a little more subtle." I told him. He chuckled lightly.

He rubbed his forehead against mine.

"I wish you'd let me know your thoughts." He said suddenly.

"I do." I said.

"No." He pulled his head back. "Something was bothering you."

"You told me about you having sex with someone else." I said. "You've never gotten that excited about me."

"I just wondered if I wasn't enough for you." I said.

"You're enough." He said.

"And of course I get excited about you. I just don't let myself gush about it."

"You don't let yourself gush about anything." I retorted.

"What?"

"You say I don't share my thoughts, you don't share your feelings that much."

Indra looked to the side for a second.

"Maybe it's hard for us both." I said.

"I love you." Indra said.

"Don't say it now because I'm talking about feelings."

"I'm not saying it because I feel obligated. I'm saying it because it's true and that's how I feel."

I smiled. "I love you too."

I scooted closer to him and kissed him.

"Oh." I should probably text my parents. "One second."

I pulled away and grabbed my phone from the nightstand. I texted Mom that I was staying with Indra for the rest of the day.

I know he put his stuff back, but I feel like I should still watch him. Just to make sure.

I put my phone back on the nightstand and cuddled against Indra. He put his hand on my shoulder and put his lips against my forehead.

I could feel myself holding on to Indra in my sleep. Subconscious me is still paranoid.

In the middle of the night I woke up and stared at Indra. It seemed like his eyes were closed, but if he's asleep or not I can't tell. He's so silent.

"Damn." I thought. "I wanna bang him." All I can think about is mounting him.

It kind of seemed like that would come after I screamed and cried on him, begging for him to stay and love me.

I narrowed my eye. Maybe I should test it.

I leaned my face forward slowly and lightly pressed the tip of my nose to his. His head and torso jerked.

"Oh." I thought.

"Is something wrong?" Indra asked.

"Um...do you sleep?" I whispered.

"Not often."

"Oh...so you're not tired then?" Yeah...I'm having some big cravings right now.

"Um, no..." He drawled. "Why?"

I don't know if I should just go for it or tell him.

"Sex." I said.

"We're on this again?"

I shook my head, "no."

"Then what?" Poor confused Indra.

I grabbed his shirt, "I'm saying I'm fucking horny and I want you to have sex with me!"

"Oh." He said simply.

When he didn't say anything I let go of him. I sat up and he rolled on to his back. I could see his face finally.

I whimpered in embarrassment. Indra sat up and looked at me.

"I don't mind it." He said.

He took the bottom of my shirt in his fingers and pulled.

"Oh." I said.

How kind of him - letting me ride the hell out of him in the middle of the night.

I panted and pushed on his chest, keeping him down on the bed.

"This really doesn't bother you?" Me staring down at you with a messed up eye.

"Nope." Indra answered.

I smiled. "Thanks for letting me have my way."

Indra sat up and locked his arms around my waist.

"Anything for you."

I put my arms around his neck and kissed him. I slowly moved up and down on him, moaning quietly against his lips.

In the morning I laid against Indra, enjoying his warmth.

"I want to show you something." He said.

He slid out of the bed and walked over to the closet. I smiled, taking in the view.

He came back with a small piece of paper in his hand. There was ink on the back. He laid down and put his arm around me, bringing me back to his chest.

It was a very detailed painting of a woman. She was beautiful. She had soft features, but stern and narrow dark eyes with a cute button nose. Her hair was dark and curly. The sides were pinned back and the rest fell on to her shoulders.

The filter was light brown, almost black and white.

Indra put his finger below her face and said one word, "mama."

I gasped deeply. I looked at Indra, then to his mother.

"She's beautiful!"

"I see where you get your breath taking looks from." I said.

I looked at Indra again. He's showing me his mother. His real mother.

"Her name was Amalia."

I looked at the picture again.

"Hm, Amalia. Pretty name." I thought. Indra moved the picture a little bit and the sun shined on it, showing words on the back.

"What does it say on the back?"

Indra turned the picture over. The words were in cursive, but I could make them out.

"Amalia - 1629."

"1629? But photographs weren't invented then." I pondered.

"Mmhm." Indra nodded. "It was originally a painting. After a while I took it to a friend and he painted the same one, just with more detail."

I paused and stared.

Indra spoke again, "I was born April 13th, 1616."

So he is 400.

"I was murdered in 1635." He continued.

"Oh."

"It's been 389 years since that day." He muttered. I looked at him. He stared at the picture of his mother longingly.

"Forget his age. Comfort him." I thought.

I put my hand on his chest and rubbed the back of his hand.

He couldn't take his eyes off his mother.

I just realized, Indra's just a boy who was taken from his mother.

Maybe he just needs to talk.

"What was she like?"

"Mama was kind. She always knew what she would do next; she was clever that way."

"I'd always play pranks on her, to make us both laugh. One time I hung from a tree with my legs and dangled in front of her. It scared her and she hit me in the face."

He then chuckled, "I fell out of the tree and just laughed while she checked all over me."

That might be one reason he likes to climb trees.

"We weren't a very well-off family, but we had each other and she never let anyone treat her or any of us less than."

I spoke once it became clear he was done.

"She seemed like an incredible woman."

"Ea a fost." He spoke quietly. I don't know what he said, but it sounded like he agreed.

A while later I asked Indra to take me home.

"Indra come on." I said as I went into the room. He was laying in bed on his side, hugging his arms. "You aren't even dressed."

I noticed his eyes. They were red and tears were falling down the side of his face.

Oh.

I crawled on the bed and laid against him with my torso on his arm. I touched his shoulder and almost spoke.

What do you say to the 389 year old person who was kidnapped, murdered, and forced to leave his family?

"I can stay longer if you'd like." I said quietly.

Indra rolled onto his back and looked at me. He put his hand on the back of my neck and pulled my head down and kissed me.

He rolled us over and laid on top of me, beginning to take my clothes off.

I cried out and moaned loudly for him. I held on to him tightly as we moved. I love this but if this is his coping mechanism it's not healthy.

Indra was grabby and almost aggressive with me. He grabbed the back of my knee and pushed it back to my shoulder. He pounded into me, pushed deeply. I couldn't stop myself from being vocal and writhing around.

Soon he rolled us over, put me on top. His hands were on my thighs, moving up slowly. I exhaled, his hands brushed my stomach and then chest. I put my hand on the back of his. His other hand went down, reaching around to touch my back. My back arched as he touched the lower half.

He then held on to my thighs and started thrusting upwards. I gasped deeply and cried out.

"Oh fuck- Indra...!" I breathed.

The corner of his mouth turned up and he stopped moving. I just took the lead and started to move up and down.

He squeezed my thighs and moaned quietly. I put my hands down on the pillows and clutched them tightly. I leaned forward and started kissing Indra. He stroked my back, moved his hand and grabbed me, stroking me.

I moved faster. We breathed heavily on each other's faces, moving fast together.

Indra and I moaned loudly as we finished. I put my hands on the sides of his face and panted. He chuckled and put his hand on my waist, "I love the way your back arches. Just beautiful."

I laughed quietly.

I dismounted him and laid down beside him. Hope he feels better after all that.

Indra looked at me, smiling softly.

"What?"

He just leaned over and kissed me, putting his body on top of mine again. I put my arm around his neck. His hand slid against my stomach and went lower. I stopped him and our kiss.

"I'm kind of tired. Think we should save that for another time." I said.

"Alright." Indra took his hand off me and laid shoulder to shoulder with me. I closed my eye.

"God that was hot." I thought.

Waking up to a blowjob ain't bad, but I just didn't know Indra was willing to do that.

"Oh Indra!" I exhaled.

I grabbed him by the head, "stop it!" I pulled him off and he sat up.

"Such a cute submissive face you're making." He said. I scowled.

"What's with you?" I asked. Indra tilted his head.

"You don't like this?" He asked.

"Well..." It's not that I don't like it... "I just don't want you expecting me to do the same." I turned my head away. Indra didn't say anything.

"So...is it really okay that you're not leaving?" I asked.

"What do you think's going to happen? Black Death part two?" He questioned. He crawled to the head of the bed and sat beside me.

"You were talking about your unchanging looks. Speaking as if you couldn't just use your powers on people." I said. I held my arm nervously.

"They don't deserve that." Indra said. I tilted my head. I shook it, "whatever."

Indra put his hand between us and leaned closer to me. I looked at him. He smiled a little and stared at me anticipatingly.

I stammered and pushed his face, "no more!"

He held my wrist and pulled my hand from his face.

"Seriously. What's with you?" I crossed my arms. Indra hunched his shoulders. What am I doing? It's not like it's not good dick.

"We could just, I don't know," I scooted closer to him and put my shoulder to his, "relax together?"

Indra tilted his head, "huh? You just pushed me away."

"I'm saying we should relax together. Just enjoy each other's company." I explained.

Indra looked forward, "okay."

Was this all because of his mom? Does he regret telling me about her?

It was late when I got home. Mari sat up from the couch and saw me. I just high-tailed it to the kitchen and took my pills.

"Luc?"

I turned my head. Mari entered. I looked back to what I was doing.

"I don't know what I did to make you hate me so much." She said.

"Hate?" I muttered. I then sighed.

"I don't hate you." I said bluntly. "I'm just naturally hostile to people I don't know. It's not your fault."

I finished the glass of water and put it in the sink. I turned to Mari and leaned against the counter.

"Well... I think we'll start to get to know each other a lot better sooner or later." She said.

"Hm?" I tilted my head.

Mari chuckled and reached into her pocket. "I'll be your sister someday."

"Jason proposed." She said. I leaned back when I saw the ring.

It was a white plastic ring with colorful rhinestones on the top. I almost laughed.

"That is a pitiful little thing." I said.

"Yeah." Mari agreed, "but it's the thought that counts." We shared a little laugh.

Not long after I left to go to bed. I had a long day. Time to rest this exhausted body.
