Chapter 65

"So how long have you and Indra been dating?" Mari asked me.

"About a year." Without counting our little break.

We sat on my bed. Mari laid on her stomach close to the foot of the bed. I sat on my pillows.

"How did you guys meet?" She asked.

"At a lake." I said simply.

Mari nodded with a small "oh."

The next night we were sitting on the bed talking again.

"I need to get a job soon. Pull my weight." Mari said.

"Hm?" I asked.

"Well I had to quit my other job when Jason and I got caught." She explained.

"Oh, right." I said lowly.

"I wonder if I should get a job." I pondered. "Can I even work?"

"You say that because of your eye?" Mari asked. I nodded.

"Maybe you'd do better in an easy-going job. Like a library." She suggested.

When we were done Mari got up to leave.

"You know, you don't have to sleep on the couch everynight. You can sleep in here with me." I said.

Mari thought about it. "Fine."

She turned off the lights and slid into the bed.

At like, midnight, my boyfriend instincts kicked in and woke me up. Indra's coming.

I sat up quickly. The bed shifting made Mari shoot up.

"What?" She asked half asleep.

I stared at my window. Indra's hand was on the glass.

"Ohh." I whimpered. What do I do?

Indra's head popped up and Mari screamed. He gasped and dropped from the window.

"What?" I asked acting oblivious.

"I just saw someone at your window!" She said.

"I didn't see anyone." I lied.

"What- you were looking right at it!" She said.

"We should get your Dad." She started to leave the bed.

"Mari." I grabbed her wrist. She stopped and turned to me.

"You're half-asleep. Your mind is playing tricks on you." I said.

I could see her looking at me skeptically.

She sighed lazily, "fine."

She laid back down and pulled the covers up and went back to sleep. I sighed with relief.

The LED light on my phone flashed.

I took my phone and opened it close to my chest. It was Indra.

He sent me a link. I clicked on it and it showed me the video of Lady Gaga screaming "what the fuck."

Guess he's starting to understand that you can use pictures and videos for reactions when words aren't enough.

"Sorryyy๐Ÿ˜ฃ๐Ÿ˜ฃ" I texted back.

"โค." He sent.

That was the end. I laid down with a sigh. "Shit that was close." I thought.

Once Easter came around the family was back in town. We were having a backyard dinner. Of course, I begged for Indra to come. Well, not begged. I just asked once and Mom and Brian said yes.

I smiled to myself when I saw Luc in the dining room. He was leaning over the table poking at a drooped flower, trying to get it to stay up. The hair that hid his eye was pushed behind his ear and was accompanied by a white flower Alexandria had put there. The sun shined in the room and made it look gold. Bathed in warm light; it made him look so beautiful.

I wondered why there would be a nice vase of flowers inside when we're eating outside.

Luc looked up and saw me. He smiled and stood up straight.

His smile dropped when a man walked in from behind me. Luc turned and left; heading for the kitchen.

I turned my head to the man. If memory serves me correctly, that's Nick's father.

I went after Luc. He stood at the oven watching the timer. I walked up behind him and put my arms around his waist. I hugged him tightly and rubbed my cheek against the side of his head. He smiled happily.

While we were all sitting outside socializing and waiting to eat I decided to get up to mischief. Indra was sitting in a chair beside the glass door. I pulled out my phone and sent a text.

"You and me ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘…๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ’ฃ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ"

Indra reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. I smiled with anticipation.

He looked up at me with a stern expression. I smiled, giggled and blew him a kiss.

Indra stood up and went inside. I laughed. A few minutes later I got up to follow.

"Hey Luc." Jason called. I turned around.

"Oh! Hey bro!" I totally wasn't going anywhere! Nope not me! Tee-hee!

"We haven't spoken in a while. How've you been?" He asked.

"Oh you know. School. Life. On my way to college soon!" I answered.

"Oh yeah, have you chosen a major yet? Or at least a minor?" Jason asked with a small head tilt.

"Not yet." I said. I should really be thinking about it though...

"Well it's no rush. If you need to take a gap year to think on it more it's no issue." Jason said.

"Gap year?" I asked. "I can do that?"

Jason asked, "I'd ask Mom and Dad though first."

"Right." I drawled.

"Welp! Nice talking to you! Be back later!" I skeeweed into the house.

As I walked through the dining room Jane Todd passed me, "dinner's ready!"

I stopped, "aw." I whined.

Mari walked past me and stopped, "what is it?"

"Nothing." I mumbled.

She left.

"I'm not getting banged today am I?" I groaned.

We all sat at a long table covered in white tablecloth.

I playfully nudged into Indra. He nudged me back. I looked at Jason and Mari. They sat by each other holding hands. I wonder if they'll tell everyone that he proposed.

"Try these rolls." I whispered to Indra, "they're the best."

He took a roll from the basket I held and took a bite. "Hm." Was all he said.

"Well okay." I said. I put the basket down.

Alexandria was talking about how she wanted to make flower crowns after dinner. Mom was all for it, wanting to please her baby girl. Brian was hesitant because of bugs.

Indra chuckled quietly. I looked at him.

"Just remembering an incident with flower crowns." He answered my silent question. Hm I wonder what it was.

"Well everyone, we'd like to tell you now since we're all here," Mari started after dinner with a smile. "I'm pregnant!"

Brian inhaled sharply then started choking on his lemonade.

"Jason-!" He scolded.

"She's joking." Jason said.

"I am." Mari confirmed, nodding at Brian.

Brian wiped his mouth with his napkin. Jason stood up and held Mari's hand.

"Jason proposed!" She squealed.

The family cheered for them, congratulated them.

A while later I was speaking to my brother.

"I promise. At your wedding I'm gonna clap the hardest." I said grinning.

"Well thank you Luc." He said. "And if you and Indra decide to tie the knot, I'll make sure to dance harder than anyone else. So you won't feel like everyone's watching you."

I blushed, "me and Indra? Married?!" I never really thought about it. Jason snickered.

I saw Indra from behind Jason's shoulder. He stood by the edge of the backyard. He gave me a perverted smile. Of course he heard all that.

Some time after Easter I had a feeling.

At night I woke up and sat up. Indra sat on the ledge of my window hugging his knees and looking up at the sky. I rubbed my eye groggily.

I got out of bed and stood in front of him. He turned to me. The moonlight shined on him. He almost looked like an angel.

"I feel like something bad is going to happen." I stated.

"What do you mean?" Indra asked. He whispered to me, and it felt like his words just echoed around my head. I couldn't really figure out why I was awake.

"I don't know." I whispered.

Indra looked out the window again.

"What are you looking at?" I went over to him.

"The moon, perhaps." He answered.

I kneeled beside him and looked at the moon too. It was big, round, and white.

"It's dazzling." I said.

Towards the end of May we were all preparing for finals.

At the end of the day I went to the front doors of the school. Mom was picking me up.

I went to open the door but a woman beat me to it as she was coming in. She bumped in to me and spilled her coffee on me. I shrieked.

"Oh my gosh." She started. "I am so sorry, I didn't see you." She looked all over me checking for burns. The coffee was lukewarm.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"I'm fine. It's okay." I uses my sleeve to dry some coffee droplets from my neck and looked up at her.

She was gorgeous. She had straight blonde hair with amber highlights. She had dark green eyes. She was kind of tall too. Maybe as tall as Indra.

I had that weird feeling again.

"Uh...who are you?" I asked with a head tilt.

She looked at me.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to say that." I said apologetically.

"It's fine." She smiled, "I'm Lucy."

I looked at her appearance subtly. She didn't look like a teacher or anything.

"Are you here for a job?"

Holy fuck- why am I being so nosy? I don't know. Something about her pulled me in. Oh no... Is she another vampire?

"No. I'm looking for my son." Lucy answered. She smiled awkwardly.

Oh. Duh. I mentally slapped myself. She's a parent.

"Ahaha... Well good luck. See you!" I walked around her and rushed up the driveway when I saw Mom's car.

God that was weird.

Hm...though, why do I feel like she's...mine?

When we got home I ran upstairs to Jason. He was home on a small break.

"Dude. I don't know how," he turned to me with a raised eyebrow, "but I think I just met my mother."
