9:41 p.m.

“I’ll be back before you know it baby.” My arms wrapped around Liam’s waist, being cautious to not press my belly against him as I engulfed him in a hug. I know he wasn’t going to be gone long, but this feeling, the feeling of loving and needing someone was becoming overwhelming for Liam. I didn’t want to come across as being clingy, but after nearly spending every day and almost every waking hour with one another, I am finding difficult to part from his presence. I am enamored with this man.

“I know.” I held onto him a few moments longer, knowing that when he returned on Monday, we would have to have the conversation that would make or break our relationship. Liam brought his hands to cup my cheeks, rubbing his thumbs over my slightly oiled skin from my moisturizer.

“I’ll call you in the morning.” Bringing my arms up his abdomen and around his neck, I placed a gentle kiss to his lips. I felt Liam’s lips curl in a small smile, as he met the movements of my lips. We both agreed to lay off of sex to make sure that it wasn’t of basis our relationship, so kissing and cuddling have been our most intimate actions since our engagement. Liam pulled away from my lips, placing a light smack to my ass, his favorite way to wish me goodbye. “I love you.” He has spoken these words to me every day since he proposed, yet each time felt like the first. The gleam and adoration in his eyes when he spoke those three words, those eight letters would have a hold on my heart for the rest of my life. Hearing him say I love you made me feel giddy inside, as if I was a kid in a candy store.

“I love you too, be safe.” Liam smirked, grabbing the handle of his suitcase.

“Always.” I opened the door for him, as he wheeled his suitcase into his lobby, heading towards the elevator with two of his body guards, leaving the other four behind for Cove, and I’s protection. With a soft click of the lock, I closed the heavy wooden door, resting my back against its paneled frame. I miss him already.

“M-Mommy?” As my eyes opened I found Cove walking towards me. Her face was red, and she was holding her stomach while tears fell from her eyes.

“What’s wrong babe?” Kneeling down once she was in front of me, I wiped the tears reddening her eyes, and staining her round cheeks. “Is it still your stomach baby?” She nodded her head, wrapping her small arms around my neck. Hoisting Cove around my waist as I stood up, I used the back of my palm to see if her fever had went down. “Lets get you back into bed love.” Much like me when I was younger, Cove usually got sick around this time of the year when the weather was changing. It was the worst during the day, but at least, if it stuck to its pattern, her fever should pass by tomorrow or Saturday.

Chief led us up the staircase into Cove’s room, that was dimly lit by the small bunny lamp on her nightstand. I sat down on the bed bringing my hand to rub soothing circles on Cove’s back. There really wasn’t much I could do, besides give her medicine ever six hours, and keep warm liquids in her system. Her doctor much like the ones of my childhood didn’t have an explanation for the sudden sickness, because other than the stomachache and small fever, Cove was completely healthy.

“Try to go back to sleep love.” I laid Cove back on her pillow, placing the ice pack under a thick towel and onto her forehead. Chief cuddled next to Cove hoping to bring her comfort, as I placed her comforter back over her body. My hand rubbed her head softly, hoping it would soothe her to sleep, so she wouldn’t think about the pain. I wanted her back to her upbeat, energetic self as soon as possible. I feel completely useless not being able to take her pain away and just give it to me.

After, a long ten minutes Cove was finally fast asleep and so was Chief. Standing up from her bed, I quietly walked out of the room, closing the door behind me. Liam’s bedroom was right next to hers, so thankfully I didn’t have a long journey to travel in this palace of a home. Once, my feet entered the threshold of Liam’s bedroom, his scent hit me with full force, as if he was standing right next to me. I would be sitting on his side of the bed until Monday.

Instead of taking me in the direction of the lush bed ahead of me, my legs pushed me towards the large mirror mounted on Liam’s wall. Liam loved looking into this thing, but I on the other hand did not. My hair was tied in a bun with a few straggled hairs hanging out, and my oversized hoodie hid my bump like magic.

Bringing my hands to the bottom of the thick material, I pulled it from my body, leaving me in just my baby pink night gown. My hoodie hit the cold tiled floor with a soft thud, as my hands held the growing shape of my baby bump.

“Hi, it’s your mommy.” I looked down at my stomach, as my hands rubbed it in circular motions. “I’m sorry I haven’t talked in a while, but I promise I’m going to make everything is right, and you two are going to be welcomed with so much love.” I felt two kicks against my stomach, causing a small laugh to escape my throat. No matter what happens, I will love these babies with everything in me.

Friday, March 12th

8:21 a.m.

-Thank you again Gustav, I’m glad she’s feeling better.

I swiped my card to enter the building, wishing Sue good morning with the wave of my hand, as I walked down the long hallway to the elevator.

-No need to thank me my dear, whatever you and Cove need don’t hesitate to ask.

As the elevator opened three women walked out, eyeing me up and down. Two of them were laughing while the other rolled her eyes scuffing.

“That’s her isn’t, I expected more.”

“I saw that cheap dress at JC Penny.” One of the three pushed past my shoulder as they walked away heading towards Marketing. What the hell was that about? I walked into the elevator, pushing the number nine button, to head to the executive floor.

-Uh, Gustav, I’ll call you on my lunch break I just got into the office.

-Oh! Of course, my dear, I will send you snaptexts of any updates.

I laughed. Snapchats.

-Thank you, talk soon.

-Bye my dear, don’t work to hard.

I smiled hanging up the phone, as the elevator opened. Carlos and Danielle were leaving the lounge when they spotted me, giving me a weird look. What the hell is going on with everyone today?

“Good morning guys.” I smiled at them, hoping that would lighten the mood.

“Uh, good morning Katie.” Carlos spoke as Danielle did a one over of my appearance before rolling her eyes, and nudging Carlos’s shoulder. Since, when does she have a problem with me?

“Um, if you guys see the rest of your team before I do, could you relay the message we have a meeting at 3:30, I’ll send a reminder email once I get to my office.”

“Mr. Harrington, does our Friday meetings, why are you leading it today?”

“I-I’m sorry?” Danielle, rolled her eyes again, crossing her arms over her chest.

“Nothing, she means nothing.” Carlos gave me a reassuring smile. “I will relay the message.” I nodded my head slowly, as the two of them walked to the right of me to their offices. I know I’m not the most beautiful woman in the office, but my appearance today wasn’t inappropriate, was it? I took a deep breath being mindful not to get myself worked up, as I walked to my office door, digging through the bottom of my purse to the find the key.

As I held the handle, I stumbled forward, nearly falling to my feet as the door opened. I know for a fact I locked my office yesterday. I took a step forward noticing papers were at my feet, as I sat my purse down to rest on the floor. Walking over to the wall that housed my light source, I flicked the switch up, illuminating my completely trashed office. All my papers were scattered on the floor, all the contents on my desk were now on the ground, both my picture frame were shattered into glass, and the icing on the cake, written in bold capital letters and red lipstick was the word slut on all my windows. What the hell was going on?

I could hear my heart pounding against my chest in my ears, and echoing throughout my brain, as I couldn’t take my eyes off the sight before me. All I could comprehend was the sound of ringing, as hot tears rolled down my cheeks ruining all the blending work I put into my foundation.

“Katherine!” Veronica shook my shoulders snapping me out of my daze. She was holding my buzzing phone in her palm, as she stared at me with worry. “Liam, he’s um, he’s calling.”

“Don’t!” I quickly wiped my eyes, snatching my phone out of her hands, to turn it off.

“Katie-”

“Please, just tell me.” The look on her face told me everything I needed to know, she didn’t just walk up her to chat and bother me like she usually did, something was wrong. And that something had to do with me. Veronica pursued her lips, as she grabbed my hands, holding them tightly.

“You did nothing wrong-”

“Veronica! Just tell me why this is happening!” I was upset, angry, embarrassed and most of all hurt. How are people so cruel.

“Everyone in the office knows you're sleeping with Liam, there was small portion of footage released to a few people of you two having sex in the conference room.” My eyes widened, as my phone fell from my shaking hands.

“D-Does he, does he know?” I could barely get my sentence out.

“From my knowledge, no he doesn’t. HR had the video taken down immediately and anyone who mentions it to Liam will be terminated for harassment.”

“S-So, they can just do this.” My hands notioned to my ruined office, and completely destroyed self esteem.

“Katie, I’m so sorry, you don’t deserve this.” Veronica’s arms wrapped around my waist pulling me into a tight hug, which I happily accepted. This was the last thing I expected, things like this only happen in movies, books or VR games even, but somehow this was my reality. “Babe, you have to calm down, we’ll fix this, okay.” Veronica pulled me away from her embrace, holding my shoulders tightly. I sniffed my nose in effort to stop my tears, as I tried to relax my breathing. “I think you should call Liam-”

“No, he can’t know about this.”

“Katie! There is a video of the two of you having sex, this effects him too!”

“Today is an important day for him. I didn’t tell him I was pregnat for this exact reason, why would I call him about this!” As soon as I yelled, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach, nearly knocking me to the ground.

“Okay, okay, calling him is off the table.” Veronica held me up steadily, as I clutched the side of my stomach. “I know this isn’t an ideal situtaion babe, but you’re pregnant you need to calm down.” Before I could respond to Veronica, there were hard knocks at my door that made me lift my head up.

“Katherine, I have the Basari file updated- What happened in here?” Desiree walked into my office, scouting the aftermath of the angry office women, and possibly men too. Liam has alot of amdirers here.

“Destiny, is it, could you come back later.” Veronica gave Desiree a phony smile, with the hidden meaning of get lost. Desiree, slightly rolled her eyes before turning around to face us.

“Of course, I’ll find you later Katie.” She walked out of my office, with her signuture, cocky strut that made me dislike her even more.
