Harmony’s POV

I woke up from my phone ringing. “Hello,” I said, not even glancing at the caller ID, yawning. Last night I didn’t get enough sleep. These past couple of weeks I have been up. Every time I fall asleep I get nightmares from the incident.

“Hey, can we talk” I hear Adrians’ voice come out from the other line of the phone? I stood quiet for a while not saying anything. “Hello?” Adrian said.

I sighed and answered because either way there’s no way I can hang up on him now. “there’s nothing to talk about right now Adrian.” I told him, and honestly, I don’t wanna talk to him right now. “Please, Harmony. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to blow up on you, I was just being protective, and out of all people you should know that,” he said, sounding really desperate.

“Adrian this isn’t just an ‘i’m sorry’ and we’re fine again, I have been your best friend since third grade, and you not trusting me and thinking that I said all those mean things, really hurts Adrian. So tell me what there’s to talk about.” I asked him.

“Please Harmony, just hear me out, I’m begging you,” he says desperately. “Ok, you can talk to me, where do you want to meet up,” I ask. “At the little cafe across the mall,” he says. “Ok, but I’ll text you when I can go because I’m busy this morning,” I tell him, looking at the time. My eyes went wide as soon as I saw the clock. It was 10 in the morning and I had to be there in an hour.

“Shit, I have to go Adrian” I hang up not waiting for a reply.

I got up from my bed quickly. I rushed to the bathroom, but I didn’t watch where I was going and tripped. I got up and rushed inside the bathroom. I took a quick shower and I threw on some sweats with a hoodie. I never wear shirts under because they make me uncomfortable. I grabbed my black Nike string bag and put my laptop and with my headphones and some paper and pencil just in case.

My mom doesn’t have to work until later this afternoon so she let me drive her car. I soon realized I didn’t know where he lived so I sent him a quick text and not even a second later I got a reply. He lived 15 minutes away from me, and I knew the neighborhood that he lived in. My mom has a friend that lives by there, so we go most Sundays to visit her.

When I pulled up his driveway, his house was beautiful. It was a two-story house, and he had flowers out in the garden. On His porch, he had a rocking chair with a few flower pots.

I grabbed my bag and got out of the car, I went up to his doorsteps and I was about to knock but didn’t get a chance to because the door flew open and Elijah was standing there in his sweatpants with a wife-beater on.

He for sure worked out, he was tan and his arms were buff. I realized I was staring at him for quite a long time. I felt heat rise up to my cheek in embarrassment. “Um...you can come in,” He says scratching the back of his neck awkwardly and moving aside so I can come in.

When I stepped inside, his house was pretty cozy. His living room walls were painted grey, with black couches and a glass table in the middle, and in front, there was a huge TV hanging on the wall and there were family portraits on the walls as well. “I love your living room,” I said.

“Thank you, my mom did all the decorating.” he said. “Well she did a pretty good job” I tell him. “I’ll make sure I tell her you said that.” he says. “Talking about your mom, where is she?” I asked him looking at him.

“My mom isn’t here, she’s working,” he says, and I just nod.

“We can go to my room and work,” Elijah said after a while. “Yeah, sure,” I said. He started walking up the stairs and I followed close behind. His room was on the left two doors down.

When he opened the door, I was amazed at how clean it was. Most guys have their rooms dirty. He had dark blue walls and a king-sized be in the middle. He had a desk right in front of his window with his laptop and a spinny chair. He has one white nightstand on the right side of his bed and he has many wall shelves hanging on the wall filled with trophies and pictures. He also has grey bed sheeting and pillowcases.

He sat down on his desk chair, while I sat down on his bed. His bed was pretty soft, I could probably fall asleep in 10 seconds.

“Have you read the email our teacher sent us for the project.” He asked looking at me “No not yet, You?” I asked. “Nope,” he said, popping the P’. I got out my laptop to check the Email.

This project is one where you’re supposed to have fun and maybe try new things, but I wanted you to get to know at least learn something about one of your classmates. So that being said, you each have to learn about them and write a one and a half page document on them. Make sure you include their personalities and how they act and speak and if how they act in school defines who they are. etc…. but most importantly have fun and make plans to hangout to learn more about them. While doing this project you may run into difficulties. You may have disagreements, arguments. Every relationship, whether it's friendship, parentship, partnership, or bf/gf problems. I hope that all of you enjoy this project. Try new things, that you always wanted to try, that is way outside your comfort zone. This project is 60% of your grade so make sure while doing this project, you add as much detail as possible. I want to know your entire journey to starting a new friendship. This project is due on the second to last week of the school year.

I said finishing reading the Email.

Elijah’s POV

When I opened the door she was right there. She had sweats on and a hoodie, she was also carrying a bag with her, probably normal essential stuff we might need. When she realized I had caught her checking me out, her cheeks turned light crimson. I invited her in and she was studying in my living room. My mom had done all the decorating and it felt like home.

“I love your living room.” She had said.

“Thank you, my mom did all the decorating”. I said looking around the living room. “Well, she did a pretty good job”.

“I’ll make sure I tell her you said that,” I tell her. “Talking about your mom, where is she?” she asks. “she isn’t here she’s working,” I tell her and she nods.

“We can go to my room and work,” I said kinda nervous not knowing what she’s going to say because, well I don’t want her getting the wrong idea.

“Yeah sure.” she finally says. I led her up to my room and when I opened my door and we both stepped in I went to sit on my desk chair. She was studying my room taking every detail.

I always keep my room clean. I don’t like being unorganized. I think it shows a lot about you for that one detail. My room was simple, with blue walls, a bed, and some furniture. I had my own bathroom and a walk-in closet. She sat on my bed when she was done looking around.

There was an uncomfortable silence so I spoke trying to get rid of it. “Have you read the email our teacher sent us for the project?” I asked looking at her. “No, not yet, You?” She asked. “Nope,” I said, popping the ‘P’. she got out her laptop.

This project is one where you’re supposed to have fun and maybe try new things, but I wanted you to get to know at least learn something about one of your classmates. Her voice was so sweet you could confuse it with an angel’s voice. I could live everyday hearing her voice. I bet she could sing with that voice of hers. Harmony could probably do many things.

“Ok, we could start out with easy things. Like favorite colors, food, song,” she said.

”yeah you’re right. So what’s your favorite color.” I ask her

“violet” she replies looking at my eyes.

Harmony’s POV

I feel my cheeks heat up as soon as he sees me looking at his eyes. “Um...yeah… what about you,” I ask him looking down at my lap knowing my face is still red. “Hazel,” he says looking into my eyes and my face heats up again.

“Um….I’ma go get us some snacks” he says getting up and walking down the stairs. I just sit there sitting. I didn’t get much sleep last night from all the nightmares I have been having. So I just lay my head on his pillow and shut my eyes for a quick second and before I know it I’m being taken away into darkness.

Elijah’s POV

I walked out of the door to get some snacks. I didn’t mean to say ‘hazel’ it just came out, maybe it’s my new favorite color, since those are her eye color. I love how they light up when she’s talking about something she likes doing. She’s one special girl and there’s something in her past that won’t let her enjoy her life. I know that because I have been there before. I know all the signs, all the fake smiles, and all the excuses.

I went to the cabinets and took out the bread and some chips. I went to the fridge to take out some many and ham with cheese as well. I made some sandwiches and just grabbed two packs of chips and headed upstairs.

When I opened the door to my room, the first thing I saw Harmony sleeping peacefully in my bed. She looked like an angel. I set both plates down on my desk and went to get a blanket to cover her up.

When I came back and put the blanket over her, she snuggled in close. I sat down beside her on the bed and just studied her. I’m no creep but just looking at her was something amazing.

Her light breaths were relaxing and her chest was rising up and down. She looked so peaceful. I don’t know what keeps bugging her but I know for sure that I have to gain her trust no matter what. There’s no girl I have seen that is as beautiful as her. I could picture her in my life being the mother of my kids, waking up beside her for the rest of my life. My eyes got droopy and the next thing I know her light breaths are calming that the next thing I’m falling asleep.

Harmony’s POV

My eyes fluttered open when I heard soft light snores beside me. I didn’t really pay attention. I tried getting up but I felt a big arm around me, so I turned around and saw Elijah asleep right beside me sleeping peacefully.

“Elijah...Elijah...Elijah” I said. He stirred a bit but didn’t wake up, so I spoke a bit louder. “Elijah,” I said.

“Hm,” he said.

“Could You please move your arm?” I asked. He suddenly jerked up looking around till his eyes found my own.

“Oh um...sorry,” he said, his face showing a bit of red. “Um….its ok, It’s late so I better get going. We could continue our project tomorrow. I’ll text you.” I say. “Um…..yeah that’s fine,” he says. I get up from his bed and grab all my stuff and shove it in my bag. I walk downstairs and so does Elijah.

I grab my shoes and before I open the door I turn around to face Elijah. “Um...sorry I fell asleep on your bed. I didn’t get much sleep last night, I have horrible nightmares so..” I don’t know why I told him that. I haven’t told anyone about my nightmares but I just have this feeling I can trust him.

“It’s ok, I understand.” he said, giving me a small smile.”Well, I’ll see you tomorrow” I say. “Yeah,” he says and I walk to my car. I back up and I leave for my house.

I don’t know but something tells me I can trust him. I have to get to know him more and it’s a good thing we’re partners. When I turned around to find him sleeping he looked so peaceful and hot. I mean I’m just saying. I could wake up to him every morning.

When I got to my house I quickly went up to my room to shower. When I was done I sent a quick text to Adrian remembering that I had to meet up with him.
