Hope takes a deep breath. A breath full of emotion that travels through her whole body, leaving the fragile figure shuttering from its force.
People say that these are the moments when your life flashes before your eyes and you see the truth through the haze of pretenses which you used to shield yourself from reality. Hope…Hope never lived in the comfort of illusion. Her life rolled before her eyes like a black and white movie shot on film, never stopping. Instead, she marvels at the beauty of rainbow-coloured lights 50 stories below.
The view is mesmerizing. Skyscrapers tower above alleys and cafes. Lights of downtown paint the city in shades of cobalt and crimson and purple and gold, illuminating the streets. There, on the horizon, are the dark waters of the ocean, lapping at the shore. The city is peaceful and quiet, but for the usual bustle of metropolitan life.
The girl takes the beauty in, imprinting the image in her memory as a last gift to herself.
It is the last thing Hope sees as she silently plunges into the abyss, reaching towards the sky.
