Georgina – Present day, London, England 2012
Georgina watched as a white clothed cop pushed a trolley with a bundled corpse through the front door of her house. The body was covered but georgina still felt sick when she saw a grisly hand at the side of the moving bed. Georgina's brain was fussy, she felt like she was in shock. Her six children, two boys and four girls, Shanna, holly, Lexus, Isaiah, shay and Kristina, all of different ages were gathered around her, she looked at her children, at their tear stricken, disturbed expressions and immediately regretted doing what she had done.
In front of them stood a police officer, hammering information at georgina who had not responded for a while, she only sat on the couch trying to comfort her youngest son Isaiah who had been the dead man's last son.
"Mrs Winchester, have you been listening to what I've just said?" asked the officer.
"Please, it has been a long night, may I talk to you some other time officer?" asked Georgina in a soft monotonous voice. Again, the officer gave her that same condescending look that he had worn when he had entered the house, when he been informed of the situation and had seen her children. He nodded and left with customary words of condolence and the slammed the door shut.
"Daddy, tell them to bring daddy back!" cried Isaiah loudly banging his little fists against Georgina's chest.
"Let's take you upstairs to bed, everyone upstairs now" said georgina soothingly. Her children followed her in single file, there was silence, none of them talked, and they could all hear the shouting outside their house, the bark of the police dogs, the flashing beacons of lights, the helicopters beating overhead.
They lived in a big eight bedroom house, in a small surbaban village, and now georgina as she had for years went to see each of her children off to bed one by one. She had a lot of trouble getting Isaiah off to bed though, as the little boy was afraid for the lights to be turned off. Georgina thought again about what she had heard the police officer say to his colleagues, when they had thought they were out of her earshot.
While georgina was cuddling her children she heard the men whisper behind her.
"Some of these children may need intensive counselling after all of this, they might need to be taken away from this house and their mother for some time" said one police officer to his partner.
Georgina sat at the edge of her bed, staring into space, angry with herself and that man most of all. She was also grieving for the dead man and dreading the morning. She placed her face in her hands and tried to repress the memories that came cascading through her mind.
She blamed the bedroom and the living room because millions of photographs hung around those places, like, for example the baby photos when she had been in the hospital countless times with her children, the beach trips and the countries she had visited with that man, and the other one, who had now disappeared in the night, a fugitive and a murderer.
She tried to think about the good times otherwise she knew she would fall into despair that night and she needed to try to think about the man who had died, and who she had loved, to figure out, what he would have done if their fate had been reversed.
35 years ago - Georgina
"So tell me why you think you are suitable for this role?" asked the employer, a tall thin lady with long black hair, tanned skin, green eyes who wore a grey business suit with a skirt and high heel shoes.
"I'm a hard worker, I work well in a team and I have the experience and I am willing, and able to work" explained Georgina who had her black hair in a bun, a black business suit, a black and white striped shirt, a short narrow black skirt, tights and black plain shoes.
"Okay, that seems alright, we will get back to you as soon as possible with the results from this interview, Miss Winchester" said the employer. She stood up and shook Georgina's hand and another job interview was done.
Georgina stepped out of the building and took a deep breath. She prayed that she had done enough to impress this company, she had gone for, it seems, millions of job interviews (even though agency interviews should not be counted) and each one had said the same thing in each disappointing letter she had received "Thank you for your interest in our company, unfortunately in this instance you were not successful for this position, but thank you for your interest in so-so and we wish you, the best of luck in the future"
Man, Georgina hated that sentence, it was like a kick in the stomach, but life was hard and she was determined not to make these rejections get her down.
Whenever she was not looking for work, however, georgina tried to occupy her mind as much as possible, to stay as positive as possible and she spent all her time with her two best childhood friends, Ed Ruskin and Scott fletcher. Ed was a right party animal, a loyal friend, a womaniser at times and was at university while Scott was a student too. Ed was studying business along with a sports scholarship in 5-a-side football (futsal), whilst Scott had gone into Drama studies.
"Next he will be doing ballet" Ed always teased.
"I'm not doing ballet! I'm studying to be a film director!" snapped Scott whenever Ed made fun of his chosen subject.
But overall they were all close friends, georgina had always been very comfortable around them, they were almost like brothers to her, she had grown up as an only child, so Ed and Scott were like her adopted step-brothers. They did everything together, discussed everything together and defended each other, when the other was in trouble.
At this moment in time, Valentine's Day, they were all currently single. That was another thing that they all had in common as well, none of them seemed to be able to find Mr and Mrs Right. The term hopeless romantics would fit them perfectly well.
They were currently over at georgina's house, having the traditional valentine's day film night, which they had always done, since they were young. All of them agreed that going out on the town on Valentine's Day, with millions of lovey couples was a very depressing thing to do.
While georgina was inside the kitchen preparing snacks Ed and Scott were fighting about who had dated the most girls that month. Scott was currently teasing Ed saying that the one girl did not count because she was a friend.
"Yeah scott but why are you single then? come on tell us" asked Ed.
Now scott had gone red. At that moment georgina walked into the room and hugged scott from behind "Leave him alone Ed, we promised not to discuss that again".
"Go on tell us, I want to hear it again, I thought we were happy to all be single!" cried Ed.
"Somedudethoughtiwasgay" mumbled scott under his breath.
"What was that Scottie?" asked Ed putting his hands over his ear, straining to hear what his friend had to say.
"Some dude thought I was gay" whispered scott to Ed's laughter.
Georgina threw a pillow at Ed to made him stop laughing "Come on this is supposed to be a party, cut it out Ed!"
"Okay, sorry, sorry" croaked Ed trying to stop giggling "So Georgina - what film are we going to watch this year?"
Georgina pulled a DVD sleeve from underneath the LCD, 22 inch TV, in front of them and held it up so the boys could see it "500 days of summer".
"Brilliant film!" cried Ed punching his fist into the air "Go on, stick it in!"
Georgina popped in the DVD, hit play when the menu came on, and they began to watch the movie. While they watched it, they ate snacks which georgina had left out and asked each other about their day. Scott was still sulking and Ed sternly apologised for upsetting his friend.
"Nah its cool man, I admit I can be a bit camp" said scott, and georgina and ed tried not to look at each other when scott said "a bit". The truth was (even though georgina dared not mention it) scott WAS camp. He had his short jet black hair (with the sides cut short and a quiff at the front), both his ears were pierced, and he had the rosy bud lips that made him look slightly feminine. Scott had jet black, slightly wolfish eyes.
He always loved wearing really skinny jeans and plain open necked shirts as well.
But georgina neither frowned nor teased him about this, or insisted for him to be anyone other than himself. If scott was gay (which he insisted he was not) georgina would not mind, even as a straight guy georgina thought Scott was beautiful and felt comfortable being in his presence. She felt the same about ed too, he was the rugged type that seemed intimidating from the outside, but inside he had a soft side.
"So…Miss Winchester, where is your knight-in-shining-armour this evening?" asked a voice. Georgina went red immediately realising that she had been daydreaming. She snapped out of it and blushed when she saw Scott looking knowingly at her.
"Well, you know, I've been looking for work not boyfriends really" said georgina while she began to tug on the necklace around her neck.
"How's the online dating going?" asked Ed.
"Alright, well, not really, the site is really dry lately you see" babbled georgina.
"Your lying georgina, I can tell" said scott "Aren't you even giving some of the guys are there a chance?"
"I am, and I did go on a couple of dates this year with a few, but nothing clicked" said georgina.
"I always say meeting them in real life is ten times better, you don't even have to do a stupid, meet-me thing, just look them up and down and if you don't like them, there are plenty more to pick from" said Ed stretching slightly.
"Overall dating sucks, I mean I can't even approach a guy in public, so I don't have a wide range of options" said georgina.
"I hear that, remember Jennifer?" asked Ed. They all knew Jennifer, Ed had gone out with her and had been late to their first date, she had dumped him right there immediately.
"NO do you guys remember Katie?" asked Scott looking up at the ceiling dreading the memory.
Katie had already been seeing another guy when she had started seeing Scott; the boyfriend had turned up at the cinema and had attacked scott giving him a shiner for his trouble. Katie had deemed scott too "unmanly" of her and had dumped him after the show.
"I have an idea, if I don't find a boyfriend in the next 3 years, will you guys marry me?" asked georgina pouting slightly looking at her hands on her lap.
"That is actually a good idea, we have been mates for years, we basically know each other from the inside out, ok I promise you that georgina" said scott enthusiastically. That left Ed. Georgina turned to look at Ed who had a weird expression on his face.
"What?" asked georgina.
"I'll only hurt you, I don't know why, but me and women don't go well together" began Ed.
"I KNEW it, you're a closeted gay man!" bellowed Scott.
"No I like pussy, yeah okay, I'll hold you to that bet Georgina, because you seem like you're going to be one good wife!" said Ed holding georgina's hand suddenly and sticking his tongue out at scott.
There was a long pause, while the ending credits of "500 days of summer" started to roll, and then scott whispered "But wait, isn't this type of relationship illegal?"
"Yeah, well, apparently it's forbidden in Christianity, Judaism and Islam, except if it was one guy and two wives" said Ed in a slurry voice.
"That doesn't seem very fair, so a guy can have as many wives, but a girl cannot?" asked georgina affronted.
"It has something to do with sexual jealousy, the risk of sexually transmitted diseases being passed around and about children not knowing who their fathers are" explained Ed.
"But you can do a DNA test though and hello, there are condoms now" replied georgina.
"All I'm saying is that there will be a long law case to get away with it" whispered Ed.
"And what have I got to be jealous about when it comes to Ed?" asked scott ignoring Ed "I have enough meat"
There was silence, and then all three of them began laughing uproariously when they finally caught on to what scott was getting at.
Georgina was once again thrilled to be spending the day with her two best friends. She wondered though, if what she had suggested would work, or would it ruin the strong friendship between them. She looked at the smiling faces of Ed to her left and Scott to her right, she looked at the way they were both bonding, the way lads do, and berated herself for being stupid. Nothing would go wrong, they were friends weren't they?
Alex Reltin: This is a great story! I love how well you go into detail and emotions of Capri, and Mel. You have amazing dialogue and overall it's just a thrill to read! The only critique I could find is that some of the paragraphs should be separated. For example:-"If Nia would have just let me take the car an...

I am a budding writer myself and to read this- to FEEL this- reminded me of why I am honoured to have this passion and drive for a craft that is just so raw and beautiful.
Ashley Stryker: So I'm writing this review, keeping in mind that this is a work in progress and it's part of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), so my "deeper" critiques will be saved until it's all finished up.+ Chapter One: A stewardess would not talk to anyone quite like that, particularly a clear minor...
M.L. Bull: Hello, Aalia!Your story compelled the emotional pain and struggle of a teenage girl very well.. The imagery was also convincing and well-written, showing the different personalities of your characters and their actions. However, I do think that many of your sentences are too lengthy and could use...
Alex Rushmer: Although I don't know the story of the Phantom of the Opera, I really enjoyed this story. The writing was very evocative, and it really put a picture of time and setting in my mind. The voice of the story really added to the character development. The idea of the time travelling -- or whatever re...
Alex Rushmer: This was not what I expected, but I enjoyed it a lot Malfoy was always one of the characters that I liked a lot, so I like that a lot of this happens between him and Colette. PaulSenkel: If you like Arthur C. Clarke's Odyssey, especially The Final Odyssey, then you will probably also enjoy this book. I definitely did.It does, however, address a more adolescent public than the above-mentioned book.I enjoyed the story and finished it in a few days. The overall situation on earth an...
LouiseJ2: I enjoyed the detail you went into with regards to the case. It made the UNSUB appear believable. The crisis in the middle of the story was my favorite part, very dramatic but not over the top. I feel like sometimes pairings can be overdone but I liked that some of the relationships were a little...
