Chapter 18 : The way I see it part 2

It’s been 2 months since Sabrina lied to me, and In those 2 months, I have been getting past it the best way I know how, by fucking, partying and all while learning how to work at my dad’s company.

I’m currently at work feeling tired, I went to the club last night so you could imagine that I didn’t get that much sleep, I walk to the printer then back to my cubical then yawn.

“Wow man, you look really tired, did you do an allnighter?” the guy in the cubicle next to mine guessed.

“Umm, yeah, in school they don’t tell you that working isn’t easy.”

“I hear that.” Another guy says.

I get home and I’m exhausted, thank god that it’s a Friday because I could not take another day of work. Sometimes I just really want my dad to just go easy on me, but every time I ask he brings up the old owner of the company and his little sob story that I know every word to.

I hear the door unlock and I already know who it is, Benji Noah and Nolan, one of them opens the door to my room and I turn in my big comfy chair.

“What?” I say with a straight face.

“Party?” Noah says.

“No! No more parties,” Nolan quickly dismissed Noah.

“Why not?”

“Look at him, the man Is in pain,” Benji says gesturing to me.

“Yeah, that’s why we’re going to the party to forget about the pain.

“That is the single worst thing I’ve ever heard you say, and you made a dark joke about orphans,” Noland said exasperated.

“It wasn’t that bad.”

“It was about orphans!! ” Having a whole conversation like I’m not even here and I’m just quietly observing because I’m too tired to talk, I sigh.

“What are you guys doing in my apartment again?”

“Oh, I don’t know, to make sure you’re not dead.”

“Why would I be?”

“Because, you haven’t answered our texts or calls, and you’ve been M-I-A for a week now. Benji said like it was obvious.

“Isaac, you’ve been this way for two months, since when have you ever let some girl make you feel this way?” Noah said.

“She’s not some girl, I loved her,” I said sinking farther into the chair.

“Oh no,” Noah said realizing what he said made it worse.

“Welp ya broke him,” Nolan says.

2 years later...

I’m expecting my new assistant, I take a glance at her file and I don’t even look at her picture, the resume is pretty impressive but in the end, it doesn’t really matter. I throw her resume onto the desk then take a seat.

She’s supposed to be here at 7:52 and now all I have to do is wait. I hear a weak knock on the door and I say.

“Come in.” the door opens and I’m pleasantly surprised at who comes through the door, she’s beautiful, she has skin that’s kissed by the sun, plump pouty lips, hips that are covered by black suit pants.

It’s her first time coming in here and she looks up at me with those beautiful brown sexy eyes, and I find it hard not to get an erection. She stares at me for some time then realizes that she’s staring and coughs to break the silence.

“Um, hello, my name is-”

“I already know your name Miss Zolomon.” she looks almost bewildered and I love that little face she’s making. “ I was very impressed with your résumé.” I say standing up to my full height, I round the corner and sit on the edge of my desk with my hands in my pockets.

“Graduating from Bloomington University on a scholarship, and with two majors, and I believe business and English, and all well graduating at 19 years old. That’s absolutely amazing.” I made sure my face was unreadable, just to get a natural reaction from her, and she almost looked terrified.

“Oh, it’s nothing really.” She says bashfully.

“It’s not nothing your parents must be really proud of you.”

“Yeah, they totally were.” She says sparking my interest, but we’ll put a pin in that.

“Anyway, I have been needing a new assistant because I just took over my father’s company last year and his last assistant was, well, inadequate, so I had to dispose of her,” I say rather bluntly.

I then move over to my desk and call Mári on the phone to show Rowan around.

1 month later...

12:32 am

My phone had started to ring early in the morning, the very naked girl started to stir beside me, I looked at the caller ID and it’s Rowan, I answer out of pure curiosity.

“Hello, Um von, Jenny, I need you guys right now.” I hear her say on the other side of the phone, she’s sniffling and crying and I start to sit up concerned about what’s going on with her.

“Rowan, are you ok?”

“Um, sorry this is the wrong number.” She says then hangs up the phone. I didn’t sleep well that night. I don’t know what it was I just kept thinking that today was her date with Miles, did he do something to her?

At the office I felt like Rowan was avoiding me, she kept hiding behind walls and other employees, she thought she was being sneaky but I could see her. To be honest I thought it was cute that she even tried. I called her into my office again fed up with this bull shit.

“Hello sir, I have your morning briefing and-.” I got up from my chair, then towards me. As soon as I got close to her I took her by the chin between my forefinger.

“Last week you didn’t even look at me, and you’re doing it again? Does your hatred run so deep for me that you can’t even stomach looking at me?” I say with a smirk just wondering what she’s going to do next.

She was obviously speechless, then she pushed my hand away, and shrugged her shoulder away too.

“Stop.” I was not having it, it’s on the feel of your soft skin that reminds me so much of a peach, and it was like a drug.

“You know, if I look close enough, I can see that your eyes are still puffy,” I said while bringing my thumb to her face and rubbing her under eye.

“Stop, why are you doing this? You have a huge selection of women that would die for you and your.” Before she could say anymore her phone starts to ring, she takes out her phone, and at just a glance at the caller ID I see her visibly become stressed,

I look at who it is and when I do then I take the phone from her hand. She put my coffee and documents on my desk, then she tried to take her phone back from me, jumping around and trying to raise her arm higher, but to no avail.

“You had a date with him, right.” She sighs

“yes.” Rowan says trying to catch my breath.

“And last night you called me crying, am I correct?”

“Ok, there’s just one thing that I need to know.”

“If it will make you give me back my phone, then yes.”

“OK, why were you crying?”

“He was trying to get me to talk shit about you, I don’t know why, and when I didn’t, he said, I thought a smart girl like you wouldn’t be seduced by his looks, but it just goes to show that not just blondes are dumb.”

She was on the verge of tears, if I'm being honest when a woman cries I don't feel any sympathy, mainly because of the women that I'm associated with use their tears to manipulate the people around them. But Rowan's different when she Rowan her tears for genuine her sadness was genuine, and all she wanted from me was a hug.
