Chapter 53 - Kitty

“Are you sure you're okay with going through with this?” Jude asked Lucy for the millionth time. “I just don’t want to ask you to do anything that you're not emotionally ready to do yet.”

Lucy nodded. “Xavior needs to face the consequence of his actions.” She looked at Kitty. “No one else should have to go through what we went through,”

Despite having an English last name, Lucy had strong Asian features. She had a round face, dark brown eyes and naturally dead straight, black hair.

Lucy had just turned sixteen a few weeks ago and was in the year level below us.

Aiden, Jonah, Jude, Blake, and I had managed to find Lucy the day before. I had somehow managed convinced her to leave her friends and come talk to her. We then asked her about Xavior.

At first, she had not wanted to tell us anything. Until we had told her that we already knew about the rape. We reassured her that we were going to make Xavior pay, and that was all it took it get Lucy to tell us everything.

Lucy’s story was almost identical to Tabby's. Lucy had managed to get an invite to one of Alesia's parties. Once she arrived, she ended up being separated from her friends. Lucy then ended up talking to Xavior. After asking him where the bathroom was, Xavior led her upstairs. It was there that the drug Xavior had slipped into her drink took effect. Xavior carried her to one of the bedrooms and well you know the rest.

Now a day later Jude, Jonah, Blake, Aiden, and I were in the back of the library with Lucy. Except this time we had Tabby with us. The seven of us were seated around one of the tables talking quietly.

“He will pay,” Tabby told Lucy. “We can’t let him get away with this.”

It had been decided that Lucy and Tabby would go to the police after to school.

“Do you want us to go with you?” I asked both girls.

“No,” Tabby answered.

“It's not a problem for us, Tabitha,” Blake told her.

Tabby shook her head. “It is something we need to do alone,” she said firmly.

“Because you're both minors, you may need a legal guardian to go with you,” Aiden told them.

Lucy turned pale. “I can’t,” she said. “I don’t want my parents to know.”

“Lucy, if you're going to take Xavior to court, your parents will find out,” Jonah reminded her.

“Lucy, like I said, if this is too much for you, we are not going to force you to do it,” Jude reassured her.

Lucy nodded. “I have to do it,” she told us quietly. “I can’t let him get away with this.”

“He won’t,” I told Lucy. “I promise you that, we will do whatever it takes to make so he gets what he deserves.”

“If that's it, can I go back to my friends?” Lucy asked nervously. “They're going to be wondering where I am.”

Tabby smiled. “It’s fine. I'll see you after school.”

Lucy nodded, she stood up awkwardly and hurried off to find her friends.

“It's almost all over,” Aiden reassured Tabby.

“I know,” Tabby smiled. Not a fake half smile but a real smile. “It almost doesn’t feel real,” she admitted

“It is Tabby,” I reminded her. “Xavior will never hurt you again.”

“No you or anyone,” Jude added.

“I like the sound of that,” Tabby she said, happily. Tabby looked towards the clock hanging on the wall behind us. “I need to go now,” she told us. “I promised Toby I would tutor him in English.”

“Do you need help?” Blake asked her. “I'm probably one of the best English students. Not as good as you of course but still pretty good.”

“I could use some extra help,” Tabby grinned.

“Jude and I agreed to tutor George in Legal Studies,” Aiden told us.

“If you had said at the beginning of the year that I would be friends with George Sonnier, I would have laughed and told you to keep dreaming,” Jude admitted.

“I know the feeling,” Blake added softly.

“Well, we should get going,” Tabby added as she stood up.

Blake, Aiden, and Jude stood up and followed Tabby to the quiet room, leaving me alone with Jonah.

There was an awkward silence between us.

“I will just go,” Jonah muttered as he stood up quickly.

“No, stay,” I told him. Jonah looked at me then sat back down. “Things don’t have to be awkward between us,” I reminded him.

“I know,” Jonah answered not looking me in the eye.

“Then why do you keep avoiding me?” I asked him curiously. I had a feeling that I knew the answer, I just wanted to hear he say it.

“I get it, Katarina,” Jonah told me. “I know you don’t like me the same way, and I'm completely fine with that. I would prefer to just be friends with you, then not spend time with you at all.” I laughed. Jonah looked at me in confusion. “What are you laughing about?” he asked.

“For someone so smart you can be so stupid sometimes,” I told him as I grinned at him. I smiled wider when I realised that I quoting what Millie had said to me when I first found out about Jonah crush me.

“What are you implying?” Jonah asked me. In a tone that somehow managed to sound both nervous and excited at the same time.

“I like you, Jonah,” I told him. I smiled at him. It felt good to finally say it out loud. I wasn’t nervous. Why would I be? I had nothing to be nervous about, I already know he returns my feeling. “And I have for a while. I just never realised it until we went to the movies together.”

Jonah leant in and kissed me. It was the first time I had ever kissed anyone, and it was nice.

We brought apart after a few seconds.

“Promise me, Jonah that after everything with Angelica is over we will go on a proper date,” I told him.

“I like the sound of that,” Jonah told me.
