Jesse and Elaine were more into a long distance relationship than any other couples they knew from their respective sides. They both came from a small, happy town called “Roselle” and Elaine teaches art at the local elementary school while Jesse travels on and off to Scotland; working as an interior designer.
Sometimes Jesse had to stay back quite a few months to finish his projects and video calls were the only way they kept in touch and that too depends on the network service at Roselle. It can get frantic once in a while.
Jesse and Elaine have known each other for about 7 years now and so did their families. There was no more awkwardness or sudden silence among their family members like it used to happen during the initial days when both their households met either for dinners or some other important occasions.
Jesse and Elaine always made sure they checked on each other every day and out off all possibilities to met each other face to face at least once in a month just to strengthen up their relationship and that routine definitely paid off because they have eventually reached their dream destination.
Marriage.
They could never ask for more and especially for Elaine, she was just lost of words to describe how she felt about her wedding and to be officially declared as husband and wife; that was the cherry on the cake.
It was the moment both of them have been waiting for all these years. The ceremony took place at their local church just beside the beautiful, open view of high, rocky mountains.
Their special day had been showered with amazing blessings from all their families, friends and even from some acquaintances when Jesse and Elaine both hold hands and walked down the aisle as a sign to celebrate their official knots.
Both their parents were soaked in tears of joy while other members clapped their hands and some even went to the extend and whistle. These kind of response can never be written down in words and every one should at least experience it in their life time.
Imagine, countless of sleepless night, hoping and praying that the day would arrive soon but once it falls right at the door step, nervousness and anxiety kicks in. As the clock ticks, the heart beat rises and butterflies swarms inside the belly. These kinds of roller coaster emotions only happens during marriage and it is very special.
The couple had planned on a simple wedding ever since because thinking rationally, most of their family members have past their youths and also Jesse’s mum survived from two separate heart attacks and pretty much is fueling her life with countless medicines.
Apart from that, Elaine’s cousins are getting into college the coming year and of course like all sisters, she was definitely proud of them but the backslide was cash.
So, there are lots of responsibilities which involved currencies and besides, they thought it was not a good idea after all to spend most of their savings just for one big day and worry about the expenses that the journey would bring them for years to come.
It was half past 7:00 in the evening and Jesse had organized their stay at the Decade Hotel where the wedding reception took place since it was just blocks away from the church. The hotel became a famous landmark due to its height which was 4-storey higher than any other buildings in town.
Jesse and Elaine stepped into the elevator and with a breath of relief Jesse went a step forward and pressed the button number “5”. As the door of elevator closed, Elaine effortlessly leaned her back on the cold, shiny surface of the elevator.
The coldness from the smooth surface pricked on her bare skin but it did not seem to bother her attention that she had on the room card which she played innocently with her fingers. She was actually amazed by the golden borders that masqueraded the light blue shade of the card itself.
Jesse began to hum a very low melody and Elaine knew it was from one of his favorite jazz albums in which he could not at all memorize the lyrics even though he had been listening to it for months.
Elaine giggled as she thought about her husband’s lack of memory and it caught Jesse’s attention and she immediately kept her head low to hide her smile. Jesse chuckled softly and he lend out his hand and took hers and swayed it like a breeze.
Elaine have known Jesse for many years but something made him glow a little extra that night and she could not deny the fact that he was looking tremendously heroic.
His black suit was perfectly tailored to his toned body and his wavy black lock that flowed flawlessly in all directions seem to dazzle gorgeously to the dim light in the elevator.
Jesse cleared his throat and ran his fingers through his thick hair as a tiny smirk bloomed on the right corner of his lips as he caught his wife checking on him.
“Am I looking okay?” Jesse whispered, running his hands over his suit.
“Okay? You look awesome!” Elaine confessed and that made Jesse to laugh softly.
