Chapter Seventy Seven

Jordan's POV

"Wow!" Michelle responds to Jade, trying to hide her shock.

Grandpa smiles proudly at Jade before slowly standing up and buttoning his grey suit jacket, with a smirk on his lips, his calculating eyes spoke volumes.

Lifting his head to a stun talk show host, "I might be old but I am not slow." Standing with his legs apart and his fingers entwined in front of him.

"Unlike you I didn't walk into this interview blindly." Grandpa started while the host started squirming uncomfortably in her seat.

"I know about the deal you secured to air the night after our annual ball," pausing he turned to me with an apologetic smile. "With the woman who gave birth to my wonderful grandchildren." I met Jade confuse frown as I listen to grandpa tell of the host.

"I have a lawsuit waiting that will leave you walking the streets naked when I am done with you.." Pausing he looks around the large studio, "and this network." He was saying with a smirk when we heard his name being called by someone who was breathing heavily.

"Mr. Branson, Mr. Branson." The man I recognize as the CEO to this network hastens towards us, while signaling to the camera crew to cut.

Grandpa follows his gaze with a smirk confirming that he is in control right now.

"George," grandpa greets the CEO with a polite smile. "Did you know about this?" grandpa points to the host of our interview.

George follows grandpa's gaze and glares at 'Michelle'.

"What's the meaning of this?" He asks waving his had all around?" I searched his features to see if he is in the dark about a deal mom made with his network.

"I'm sorry sir," Michelle tells her boss, lifting her chin she turns to face grandpa. "Mr. Branson, I'm a reporter and it is my duty to tell the truth and I will not be suppress by you or anyone else." She said with confidence but grandpa's expression didn't change.

Nodding, "I agree with you but," untangling his fingers he wave an index finger at her with a smirk. "Paying for the truth?" Chuckling dryly as he twists his mouth, side to side.

Shaking his head, he turned to George. "There is never any truth when you have to pay for it, except scandals." With that said, he nods to a man who stood beside a camera and then at Jade and then me. "You guys ready?" He asks.

Jade and I sprung up simultaneously from our seats.

Shrugging, "yep," I nod politely to Michelle. "Ma'am." I followed grandpa, only hearing Jade chuckle softly as we walked away listening to George apologizing to grandpa about this evening's taping and the fiasco it turned into.

The cameraman grandpa nodded to earlier approached us and give grandpa a flashdrive, leaving George confused.

"You of all people know that I NEVER venture out unless I am sure about what awaits me." Grandpa tells George, shoving the flash drive in his pocket.

Stretching out his hand, "I don't blame you and I hope to you see at the ball," grandpa chuckles to a surprise George as Jade gasps in shock.

"It's been a pleasure as always," grandpa tells him nodding at me. "The future of Branson is now in the hands of these two and my granddaughter-in-law." Grandpa bows his head slightly to George as his driver slows down in front of us.

George stares at us as we silently drove off with a grim expression on his face.

"You set us up?" Jade started on grandpa while I just listen in, wondering if I would have had the same temperance grandpa had while speaking to the host and George.

Chuckling deeply, "I had my suspicions after I heard your mother had lunch with Michelle and an executive of the station." Grandpa enlightened us.

"But George was in the dark?" I asked the question already knowing the answer.

Nodding, "yes and as the CEO of Branson, how do you intend to move forward with his network?" I sense this is a test and if I was sitting in grandpa's seat earlier, things would have turned out differently.

Sighing, I reached out and pulled out a beer from the space between the driver's seat and the passenger seat, giving one to Jade and opening the second for me.

After taking sip, "I know what I want to do and I know what I should do." By grandpa's smile, I guess I give him the right answer, even though I don't know if I will do the right thing or do what I want to do!

"What do you want to do?" Jade smirks mischievously.

"Fuck up all of them." Trying my best not to entertain thoughts of my mother and her trying to fuck us all by making another deal for money.

Laughing, "well the ball is this weekend, so you have to make a decision soon." She tells me.

Shaking my head with a deep chuckle. "No," I laugh. "All I have to do is go home and re-pack my closet under the watchful eyes of my wife." I responded easily, secretly wondering if Leah already did it for me.

Grandpa frowned, "re-pack?" He repeated and I nod.

"I made a mess because I didn't know what to wear until Leah flung this ensemble against my chest." I mused happily.

Jade and grandpa laughed out at my comment.

"She's absolutely perfect for you," grandpa muses. "She has you grounded and," pausing grandpa glances between Jade and I. "Maybe it's time I told you this." Again he paused nodding his head slowly.

"Your grandma signed over all of her Branson shares to Leah." Grandpa says while Jade and I stared at him in surprise with Jade recovering first.

"That's great grandpa, Leah is our family!"
