Longing

For those who lose interest after this chapter please don't. This is just a part that I felt that I needed to include as a part of the great LGBTIQ in India. It is a homage of sorts that I needed to add. Keep on reading!

Amit’s POV.

I never really forgot him. Every now and then... I feel him in me and around me. Sometimes when I am drinking the masala chai form the nukkad ... I take a sip and pass the glass on my left.

I did not really see him after that day ... that fated day when he rejected me...

I so wanted to go back to him the very minute he turned his back but I never found him.

In the meanwhile, a lot has happened over the past 12 years...

The Delhi High Court abolished Section 377 in 2009 making the gay pride in India dance in joy. It is at this moment that I was shattered. You are not by my side to celebrate walking in public with hand in hand. You left me ...

Everyday I drag myself out of the bed to keep up the appearances. Do you know I am working hard to become somebody in this society just so that we become untouchable when you come back...

You will ... won’t you!

But things never change much in this country. After 5 years when the Supreme Court negated the order of Delhi high court and restored the ban in 2013. They were more than happy to upheld the 1861 law that banned the carnal intercourse against the order of nature.

Am I a criminal now? With the number of cases registered and tried in this country in a year we probably are!

While the vocal LGBTQ.. was gearing up for round 2, I was preparing for my exams all the while thinking about you.

What right do I have of any happiness in this country? At least my parents were happy! They would take so much pride in criticizing Bitto and his friends singing my praises as I never so much had a girlfriend.

Little did they know that every day I am slowly dying without you by my side ...

I have spent the better part of the decade waiting for you ...

I am your's ... Always and forever

Working in the system I feel more pain that you would ever know! Every day I see parents proving us wrong by taking action against their own kids as they fell in love with the wrong gender ...

After all, as parents, they must cure their children of the illness... It is their obligation and duty.

Will you be surprised if I tell you that I like these parents! They are in a way better than the others who kill their sick child in the name of keeping their honor.

I tell you, it is not only the girls that are killed but the boys as well ...

I guess that we were right to break up ... at least we are still alive ...

Alone but alive out there...

I am missing you again today ...

The five judges panel of the Supreme Court in a landmarking moment overturned their own decision and declared us neither ill nor criminals.

While the whole world is celebrating ... all I can think of is you...

I am there now ... I own and head, the biggest law firm here ...

I am Untouchable now ... Nobody can touch us ever ...

I am your’s ... Always and forever

I need you back ... Now ... This very minute ...
