I haven't heard anything from Spencer in over a week and I was starting to get worried. Spencer and I talked long about how this was going to go down between us. I wasn't allowed to contact him. All of our contact would come from him, but I couldn't help but be worried about him at all times. I did my best to try and focus on school. I decided to take a law class since I really didn't have a plan on what I wanted to do with my life just yet. I thought if I knew a little more about Spencer's world I could understand things better. It actually was becoming one of my favorite classes. I was becoming a little fascinated with it.
Matt seemed to move on from us quite fast. The other morning I saw him in the parking lot with some woman. They seemed very cozy with each other. I was happy for him, considering my heart belonged to someone else. It made things easier on me. The only thing I was a little sad about was Matt was a good guy and a good friend. I did miss him some and wished that we could have at least stayed friends, but he doesn't even look my way anymore. At least I've got Levi and he is enough for me right now. My alarm went off and I pulled myself out of bed. I sat on the side of the bed and felt a little light headed. It was a very warm morning and I had been sweating most of the night. I got up and opened my balcony doors and turned on the fans in my room. Yuck, I said to myself. I went into the bathroom and turned on a cool shower. Hoping it would cool me off and I would feel a little better.
After my long cooling shower. I stepped out and grabbed my towel. I wrapped it around my body and seriously considered getting an air conditioner just for my bedroom. The summer months were approaching fast and school only had three weeks left before summer break. I still hadn't heard anything from Spencer and it's been almost a month now. He had to know that I was losing patience. It would only be a matter of time before I give in and tried to find him. Of course showing him my stubborn side. I finished getting dressed and headed off to school.
Mr. Clark was unusually quiet today. I stayed in his room during my off period to help him get caught up on grading some papers and he seemed a bit preoccupied. "Mr. Clark?" I said.
"Yes Page?" He said.
"Are you okay sir?" I asked him.
"Yes Page, I'm fine. How about you?" He said.
"I'm okay, you seem a bit preoccupied today?" I said.
"I just have a lot of things to get done before break." He said.
"Do you need any extra help?' I asked. He looked over at me.
"Don't you have friends or fun things you could be getting ready for?" He asked me. I just kind of smiled.
"Yeah, you would think so, but no I'm just trying to get my house ready for the heat." I said smiling. He shook his head.
"Page, your young and beautiful. You shouldn't be worrying about things like that. You should be getting ready for some fun and boys." He said. I giggled.
"You act like I'm still a teenager." I said. He smiled at me. Sometimes Mr. Clark can act like a dad. It's funny to me when he says such things. "I've got more imported things going on then to be at some lake drunk and dumb with many different boys all over me all summer long." I said. That's when Mr. Clark laughed.
"Your to mature of a woman to act like that Page, but there are so many other things you could be doing this summer. Then fixing up your home." He said. "You should take a vacation. Go somewhere you have always wanted to go. Visit some family or some friends." He said. I didn't have the heart to tell him I didn't have any family, but I knew I would see Brandy this summer.
"My best friend from back home is coming out this summer to visit me. I'm sure her and I will find something fun to do." I said. He nodded at me.
"That's good Page and when is she coming?" He asked me.
"I'm not really sure on a date yet, but she will be here." I said. He smiled at me and I got back to work. Later on that day and after three different test. I was headed home. Levi was coming over for pizza and a movie. Something we got together for every Friday night. I had just gotten off the phone with the pizza man when I heard a knock at the door. I yelled out, "Come in!" and went back to cleaning up my kitchen some.
"You should really ask who it is before you just let people walk into your home, and why the hell is your front door unlocked at night?" I turned to see Spencer standing in the door way to my kitchen. I dropped my towel and ran into his arms. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me even closer to him.
"Where the hell have you been?" I said in his ear.
"I'm sorry baby, but I had things to take care of." He said. I opened my eyes to see that we were not alone. At the front door stood Spencer's friend Josh and Levi. I smiled at them and pulled away from Spencer. Josh was holding onto some bags and Levi just stood there not knowing what was going on. I laughed and Spencer went and took a bag from Josh. "You have met Josh. He is going to stay near by in case we run into any problems." Spencer said.
"Don't be ridiculous, Josh can stay here at the house. I've got five bedrooms to choose from." I said. Josh smiled at me.
"Are you sure? I don't want to be in the way." Josh said.
"Yes I'm sure." I said. Spencer wrapped his arm around me.
"I can come back a different night." Levi said.
"You can stay Levi. It's okay." I said and I felt Spencer tense up. I looked up at him and just smiled. "You can trust him." I whispered to Spencer. He just sort of looked down at me. After the pizza showed up and all three guys ate the shit out of it. I showed Josh to his room and I showed Spencer to my room. Spencer sat his things down on my bed and as I was pulling out extra towels to give to Josh. I felt his arms go around me.
"I've missed you." He said in my ear. I turned to face him.
"Yeah, then how come it took you so long to get to me?" I asked him. He took a deep breath.
"I had to make damn sure everything was safe." He said.
"Everything is fine." I said. He just shook his head at me.
"I wish things were different baby. I really do, but until I know that we will be safe. I cant take the risk." He said as he took a seat on the bed. He looked very tired and I didn't want to push the subject. I was just grateful that he was here.
"I'm going to go say good bye to Levi and then I'm putting you to bed." I said as I started to leave the room.
"Your going to put me to bed alright." I heard Spencer say. I smiled and turned to face him.
"Stop being naughty." I said and he smiled and winked at me. I walked down the stairs and found Levi sitting on the couch. He looked up at me.
"Is everything okay Page?" He asked me.
"Yes, why wouldn't it be?" I said.
"I'm just worried about you is all." He said. I smiled at him.
"Things are going to be just fine. You don't have to worry. Besides I've got two grown ass men in my house. What more protection can a girl ask for right?" I said. He nodded his head at me.
"You will call me if you need anything?" He said. I nodded my head at him and gave him a hug. We said our good byes and I made my way back up to Spencer.
