That night I made a huge dinner for Spencer and I. Josh would be going home tonight. I knew Spencer wanted to talk. I just didn't know what he wanted to talk about. I had to admit I was a little nervous. I made a pot roast with potatoes and carrots. I set the bar up and waited for Spencer. I heard him come in and I turned to face him. He looked tired and ready to just go to bed. I walked over to him. "This can wait till morning, why don't you just go take a shower and go to bed," I said to him while I wrapped my arm around his waist.
"I'm good babe. Plus the food smells great and I'm hungry." He said. I just nodded at him and we walked back to the bar. We sat down and I fixed Spencer's plate. We ate in silence for most of the meal.
"Spencer, what did you want to talk about?" I finally just asked him. He picked up his napkin and wiped his mouth.
"Normally after a big trial like the one we just went through. I go into hiding for a while." He said. Oh no, I said to myself. "But, I didn't receive any threats during this trial like I normally do. I don't think I have much to worry about right now, but I will increase my security and I need you to be home. Can you transfer your classes to home for now?" He asked me. I knew that I could, but I didn't want to do that. I'd never see my friends and I really was doing so much better in a classroom than I was doing from home. I didn't want to fall behind or let any of my grades slip.
"Do I really have to do that?" I said to him. He just kind of looked at me. Then he took a deep breath.
"I hate that this is the type of life I live. I hate that you have to be in this world with me, but this was why I left you in the first place. I never wanted to have to put you through this type of stuff." He said and I could genuinely see the pain on his face. "I don't want anything to happen to you." He said as he took my hand into his. This time I took a deep breath.
"Your right Spencer. I'll do whatever you need me to do." I said. I loved him and at the end of the night. He owned my heart and soul. I wanted to be with him and I had said I would do whatever it took to do that. I knew Spencer had a lot to deal with. Without me making things harder on him. He is what matters to me the most. He smiled at me. "I'll see what I can do about school in the morning. I'll go and talk to the office." I said.
"Thank you." He simply said to me. The next morning I showed up to school and like every other morning. My friends were all in the same spot waiting for me to show up. I stood there smiling as I watched them talking and laughing with each other. Something I was really going to miss. Abby caught me standing there and smiled at me. I walked over to them and took a seat.
"Hey guys, I need to talk with you," I said. I then had all of their attention. "I've got to leave for a while," I said.
"Where are you going?" Aiden asked me.
"I've got something that I have to take care of back home," I said. I was never a very good liar, but this was important and only Abby knew the whole truth. I would have to tell her the whole story later. She just sort of sat there and let me run my mouth.
"Are you going to be gone for very long?" Chris asked.
"I don't think so, but I've got to transfer my classes to online for now," I said.
"Sounds like you will be gone a while. Is there anything we can help you with?" Aiden asked me. I smiled at him. He could be very sweet when he wanted to be.
"No, I'll be okay," I said. "I've got to go down to the office and get some things in order. I'll talk to you guys later." I said and started to head off towards the office.
"Wait, I'll walk with you," Abby said. I stopped and waited for her. After we got away from the rest of the group. That's when Abby started in with her questions.
"So now, what's really going on?" She asked me. I smiled to myself.
"I guess after a big trial Spencer usually goes into hiding. Now that the trial is over. He wants me home so he can keep me safe in case anyone is after him." I said.
"Does he really think something might happen to you at school? I mean does anyone even know about you yet?" She asked.
"I don't think anyone knows about me, but if he is worried then who am I to argue with him about it," I said.
"I guess your right. I wouldn't want to take the chance." Abby said. "Do you have any idea how long this is going to be?" She asked. I just shook my head at her. "This sucks." She said.
"I know it," I said back to her.
"Are you guys actually leaving the city?" She asked.
"I don't think so," I said.
"Can I come and see you at least?" She asked.
"You know what, let me talk to Spencer about that. I mean I don't see why not, but let me make sure first." I said. She smiled and nodded at me. I got to the office and made all the necessary arrangements. I then headed over to my locker and started to clean it out. The halls were empty as everyone was in their classes. I took a deep breath and was sad I wasn't in class with my friends.
"Can I help you?" I heard a voice say behind me. I turned to see Aiden standing there.
"What are you doing?" I said.
"I came out of class to make sure you were really okay. Look, Page, I don't mean to stick my nose into your business. I know you live with Spencer Allan. I don't know who he is to you, but I know the man is trouble. If there is anything I can do for you. Please let me." He said. My heart swelled. If my life was different. If things were just normal for me and I didn't know Spencer. I could really fall for this man. Aiden was kind and loving and protective. He had a great future ahead of himself. I placed my hand on his shoulder.
"I'm okay I promise. One day I'll tell you everything, but I'm okay." I said to him.
"Can I walk you out to your car," Aiden asked. I nodded at him and he took my things from me. We got out to my car and Aiden sat my things down inside the car. I turned to talk to him. That's when a strange man came walking up to us.
"Are you Page Walker? He started to say. Aiden pushed me behind him and I looked around for my bodyguards.
"Who wants to know?" Aiden spoke up. I didn't see my two guys anywhere and I started to get a little worried. The man got really close to Aiden.
"I wasn't talking to you boy." The man said right in Aiden's face. Aiden pushed the man back with everything he had. The guy almost fell to the ground.
"Come on Aiden." I hollered out as I tried to jump into my car. Aiden turned to look at me and the guy pulled a gun out and fired it at Aiden. In slow motion, I heard the gun fire. I watched Aiden fall to the ground. I watched the man rush over to me and then I saw nothing but blackness.
