Chapter 41

We have been in Russia now for three days. Richard has informed me that we could be here for six months or longer. I learned the hard way that since I chose to stay with the family and I went into hiding with them. I can't have any contact with my friends. I missed them so very much. I missed Abby the most. I wondered what everyone was doing, how school was going. I even thought about Aiden. I knew he was alive, but I wanted to know how he was.

The one person I haven't thought about was Spencer. I don't know if it was because he has broken my heart one too many times or just the fact that he left me here. He moved on and didn't even try. I woke up early around three am and felt a little hungry so I decided to go in search of food. I quietly walked out of my room and went down to the kitchen. I turned the lights on and went over to the fridge. The place was loaded with food. Richard loved leftovers so the fridge was packed with them. I started to pull out some ham and potatoes to warm up. After I fixed my plate. I pulled out a cup to make some tea. I went to turn and dropped the cup. It hit the ground and shattered. Fuck, I said to myself. It was very loud. As I went to pick up my mess. Vincent came running into the kitchen in nothing but a pair of boxer briefs. He was pointing a gun at me and his hair was a tossed mess. He looked hilarious. I couldn't help but start to laugh.

"Page?" He said as he lowered his gun. I lost it and was laughing uncontrollably. "You think this is funny?" He said with his arms crossed.

"Yes, oh my god. If you could see yourself." I said as I grabbed my stomach.

"This is not funny. I could have shot you." He snapped.

"I know, but. But." And I lost it again. He just shook his head at me.

"I'm going to tell my father to lock your ass up at night." He said. I just smiled and bit my lip.

"I'm sorry, but I was hungry," I said. Just then some blond bimbo in nothing but her underwear came up behind him and wrapped her arms around him.

"What's all the noise out here babe?" She asked him. The girl wasn't very pretty. She just had a nice body, but I didn't need to see her in her underwear.

"Gross," I said very quietly to myself. I turned and went to pick up the cup. Then I heard Vincent lose his shit with her.

"I thought I told your ass to stay in the room?" He said.

"But baby, I was missing you." She said.

"Yeah, well why don't you take your ass back to the bedroom get dressed and miss me from the road babe." He said.

"What? You want me to leave?" She said. I just wanted to crawl into a cupboard and hide.

"You heard what I said. Now beat it." He said.

"Your a dick Vincent." She said and I heard her stomp off. A few seconds later Vincent came around the counter to where I was still on the ground picking up pieces of the cup I dropped. He had the broom in his hand.

"Don't use your hands you're going to cut yourself." He said. I looked up at him.

"It's okay Vincent I got this. You can go back to your room." I said. He just looked at me and started to sweep up the mess. I stood up and watched him.

"Why don't you try to be more careful next time." He said. He wants to be a hardass. Okay well, I can play his game.

"Why don't you sleep with earplugs in, " I said. He stopped what he was doing and just glared at me. I had to admit it was pretty intimidating, but I stood my ground with my arms crossed. "You know it was an accident," I said.

"You have a smart mouth on you." He said.

"So do you," I said.

"Go to bed Page." He said.

"Last time I checked, you were not my daddy, and my food just got done. I'll go to bed when I'm ready." I snapped. Who the hell does he think he is? I said to myself.

"Maybe I should teach you some manners." He snapped back at me.

"I have manners, thank you. Someone should teach you some manners. I'm only treating you the same way you're treating me." I snapped right back. Vincent's face was starting to turn red and still, I held my ground. "Good night Vincent," I said as I pulled my food from the microwave. I almost had to laugh again when I saw the look on Vincent's face. I don't think anyone has ever spoken to him this way. I took a seat and he was still standing there just glaring at me. I looked over at him. "Do you want to join me or are you just going to stand there and watch me like a freak?" I said. He rolled his eyes and walked off. I smiled and went back to my food.

The next morning some of us were getting ready to go skiing. I had never been before and Mickey had promised to teach me. There were about five of us going. Including Richard's niece Anna. She and I have become pretty good friends and I was glad to have a female I could hang with away from all these men. As we were loading in the cars. Vincent came out of the house all ready to go. "I didn't know he was going?" I said to Anna.

"Yeah me either." She said. Vincent walked over to us and before I got into the car he said.

"Good morning smart mouth." I just rolled my eyes.

"Morning disrespectful," I said. He shook his head and got into the car. I spent most of my day on the bunny hill with Mickey and Anna. I felt bad because I knew they could ski and they were stuck on this tiny hill with me. I made them both go off and have some fun with the others. I knew I would be okay here alone. They tried to argue with me, but there wasn't much time left of the day and I knew they wanted to at least get one good run out of the day. I assured them I would be fine. Mickey made me promise him I wouldn't leave this hill. They finally left and I just kept on practicing what they had taught me through out the day. The thing I was the worse at, was stopping. I got to the top of the hill and tried it one last time. I started off just fine and then I started to pick up some speed. I realized that I was in a bit of trouble when the speed increased and I couldn't slow myself down. As soon as I got to the bottom. I slammed into the snow at full speed. It felt like concrete and I knew I twisted my ankle. I screamed out in pain as I felt arms wrap around me and pick me up. I looked up into Vincent's eyes and he looked pissed off. He walked me into the lodge and sat me down. He then went and took my shoe off. "Ouch," I said and he looked at me and went back to my foot.

"Where the hell is Mickey and Anna?" He asked me as he put an ice pack on my ankle.

"Don't be upset with them. I told them to go and have some fun." I said as he wrapped a blanket around me.

"They shouldn't have left you alone." He said and I knew he was mad. I just kept quiet as I watched him take care of me.

"Why are you being nice to me?" I asked him. He looked up at me.

"Would you rather I had left you out there?" He said. I just shook my head. After a while, everyone was in the lodge getting ready to go. Mickey came running over to me when he saw me sitting.

"Shit Page are you okay?" He asked me, but before I could say a word to him. Vincent started in.

"Where the fuck were you when she ate shit?" He snapped. Mickey just looked up at him.

"I'm sorry boss. It won't happen again." He simply said. I just rolled my eyes.

"Yeah well, it better not. I'm not her fucking babysitter." Vincent snapped. I got angry at his words.

"I never asked you to be!" I snapped back at him. Everyone just stopped and looked at me with wide eyes. Vincent just sighed and bent down to pick me up. I swatted at him and he just ignored me. He held me bridal style and took me out to the car. He helped me inside and took a seat next to me. I looked over at him and was about to say something, but he cut me off.

"Not now Page." He said. I just crossed my arms and looked out the window.

"How are things going princess?" Richard asked me. I was laid up on the sofa with a sprained ankle.

"I'm good, but your son is an asshole," I said. Richard started to laugh as he took a seat next to me.

"He can be rough sometimes." He said.

"He is grouchy all the time," I said.

"He is a good man but he is very rough around the edges," Richard said.

"Why is he such a pain in the ass?" I asked him. Richard smiled more.

"He has a lot on his shoulders Page. When I step down he will run this family. Trust me this job is not easy. He wants respect and it means everything to him." Richard started to explain to me. "He has been telling me you have a smart mouth and you're driving him crazy." He said. I had to laugh.

"I just give it right back to him. He deserves it, the butthead." I said. Richard smiled and tapped my knee.

"Be easy with him Page. He means well." He said and got up. I watched him walk off up the stairs. He looked tired and I knew he was stressed out. I laid back on the sofa and I fell asleep. I felt arms go around me and pick me up. I could smell his aftershave and I knew it was Vincent, but I was too tired to argue. He took me to my room and laid me down in my bed. He then covered me up and I pulled the covers up and snuggled with them.

"Thank you," I said before I fell back asleep.

Unknown's POV,

"You said we would get her back? How long is this going to take? It's been almost a year."

"It's not like we have the manpower to just go in there and take her. We have to do this right or we are all going to die."
