I sat there looking past the cupcake at Spencer. "What is this?" I asked smiling at him.
"It's your treat, welcome to adult hood." He said. I reached out for the cupcake and blew the candle out. I could still see Spencer in the dark. The moon light filled the room. He came up on the bed and crawled over to me. "How does it feel to be eighteen?" He asked me. I took a deep breath. I just looked at him. He was extremely close to me. "What's your birthday wish beautiful?" He asked me. I don't know what came over me, but I couldn't help myself. I wrapped my arms around him and placed my lips against his. He didn't fight me or even pull away. Instead he picked me up and placed me down on the bed and climbed on top of me. His lips came crashing down to mine. My world started to spin and his hands were all over my body. He was driving me crazy. I started to pull and claw at his clothes. I was only in my shirt and panties. I felt his hand go underneath my panties. When I felt his fingers I almost bucked him right off of me.
"Slow down Page, let me make you feel good." He whispered in my ear. His lips then went to my neck. I felt his tongue on my neck and chest. My moans were escaping my lips. I just couldn't help myself. "When was the last time you were with someone?" He asked me. I didn't know how to tell him.
"I've, Um, I've never been with anyone." I said shyly. Spencer stopped what he was doing and looked at me.
"Your a virgin?" He asked. I nodded at him. "You want to do this with me?" He asked. I nodded again. "Page, I think maybe we should slow down." Spencer said.
"But." I started to protest. He started to move himself off of me. I felt rejected and lost for a moment. Spencer sat on the side of the bed. I moved myself closer to him. "What's wrong?" I asked. He took a deep breath.
"Page, I want you so bad. I think I'm falling for you, but until I know what I'm doing I can't be with you." He said.
"But that wasn't stopping you a second ago?" I said sounding confused.
"That was until I knew you were so innocent." He said.
"I'm not that innocent." I said. Spencer turned and faced me. He put his hands on either side of my face. He then reached over and kissed my lips again. Our breathing became heavy. He pulled away from me with our heads still together.
"Trust me baby, we need to wait." He said. I took a deep breath. "I need you to be sure I'm the one for you." He said. I started to feel a little sad. "I'm still married to your mom. I've got to find a way out without losing anything. Especially you." He said. I just nodded at him.
"Spencer, I need you." I said. "My body craves you." He closed his eyes.
"I feel the same way." He whispered. He kissed my forehead and stood up. I watched him as he left my room. All I could do was lay back and go into a ball. I laid there and cried myself to sleep.
The next day I woke up to silence. I could hear nothing but a light breeze coming from the balcony. I got up and jumped into the shower. I found a simple short white summer dress and I tried it on. It fit me like a glove. I brushed out my hair and headed downstairs for some food. The house was quiet and it felt empty. I looked around and found no one. I shrug my shoulders and went into the kitchen to make some food. Maybe cooking will bring everyone out of their room? I thought to myself. I started to fry some bacon and sausage and I whipped up some pancake mix. I turned on the music on my phone and started to kind of dance around as I cooked. Still no one came out. I guess breakfast just for myself. I said. "Good morning." I heard behind me. Spencer stood there looking delicious as usual. I could tell he just opened his eyes.
"Good morning. Are you hungry?" I asked him. He nodded at me. "Where's my mother?" I asked.
"I was going to ask you the same thing. She was there when I went to bed last night, but she was gone this morning." He said.
"Oh well, I guess she misses out on food." I said smiling as I handed Spencer a plate full of food. He smiled at me.
"Thanks babe." He said. We both sat there and ate in silence.
"Spencer?" I said. He turned and looked at me. "I, um, I'm sorry about last night." I said. He kind of snickered at me.
"Whatever for?" He asked.
"I just am is all." I said. He ran his thumb across my bottom lip.
"Don't apologize, I want this and I will have it." He said. He stood up and put his plate in the sink. I watched him walk out of the kitchen. I decided to go spend some time with Satin. After about an hour of me sitting and talking with Satin, Spencer showed his face. " Have you heard from your mother?" He asked me.
"No, but I normally don't. Why?" I asked him.
"Her cell phone just goes directly to voicemail every time I call it. She didn't say anything about leaving or going anywhere." He said. I smiled at him.
"You seem kind of worried." I said. "Don't worry about her. She does this kind of crap all the time. Sometimes I won't hear from her for over a week." I said.
"Really?" He asked. I nodded at him.
"Maybe we got lucky and she went home." I said. Laughing some. He smiled at me. I felt him come up behind me and wrap his arms around me.
"You would like that wouldn't you?" He said in my ear.
"Yes, yes I would." I said.
"Your going to do your best to seduce me aren't you?" He said.
"Me? I would never do a thing like that." I said smiling.
"Your a bad girl Page, I may have to punish you." He said. I felt that through out my entire body. "If your mom doesn't show up tonight, let me take you out." He asked me.
"Okay." I said. He smiled and kissed me.
"I've got to go into the city for some work. I'll be back this evening. I'll see you then." He said. I nodded at him and he left. I put Satin away and went back to the house. I grabbed one of my many books and sat on the porch and lost myself in the story.
A couple of hours later, there still was no sign of my mother. I decided to try and give her a call myself. It only went right to voicemail. I sent Spencer a text asking if he has heard from her. I only got back a simple no. whatever, I guess I get to go out tonight with Spencer. It was getting late and I decided to start getting ready. It was a warm night so I picked out a pretty pink dress and a pair of white sandals. I pulled my hair into a french braid. I did really lite make up and went down to the living room to wait for Spencer. He showed up about an hour later. He smiled at me as I sat in the room waiting for him. "You look beautiful Page. Just give me a minute to freshen up." He said. I smiled at him and he went into his bedroom. A few minutes later he returned. He was in some shorts and a nice shirt. "Come on Page, let's go." He said. I stood up and walked over to him. He took my hand in his.
"Thank you." I said. He looked at me.
"Anytime babe." I smiled at him. We walked outside and I expected to see the limo, but instead there was a small black Mercedes. I smiled and we headed to the car. We started to drive down the road where I was looking out my window. It was dark and I really couldn't see much. Then I saw it, there was a flash of something in the trees. I swear it looked like someone was there.
"Spencer, I saw something out there." I said.
"What do you mean, you saw something out there?" Spencer said.
"Stop the car Spencer!" I hollered out. He hit the breaks. I jumped out of the car and ran into the trees.
"Page!" I heard Spencer yell. I knew what it was the minute I came up to it. My mother's body laid there on the ground with a bullet in her head.
