Chapter 1

"This is our last night together Blake, don't you think spending it with me would be best?" My mother asked as I hugged my best friend Tina goodbye.

"I'm coming, mom," I yelled from the front door. "We will see each other again," I said to Tina.
"I hope so." She said, looking at the officers sitting in their cars in front of my house.
"You will, I promise." As I looked at the other officers sitting inside my house.
"Well, I would say call me, but." She stopped talking and we hugged again. She left and I took a deep breath and headed inside to my mother.
"I hate this, I hate all of this," I said, as I plopped myself down on the couch next to my red-eyed mother. She hasn't stopped crying since the police came here two weeks ago and told us that my father was murdered. I still don't think it has hit me yet. "I still don't understand why I can't go with you mom," I said, wiping her tears away.
"You heard the police honey, he was involved with some sort of gang activity. We have to go into hiding and we're safer apart." I threw my hands up.
"Well, why can't I at least know where you are?" She just shook her head.
"Because love, that way if you're found you can't give them any information so hopefully they will try to find me instead." I crossed my arms.
"I'm almost eighteen and I'm being forced to go live with my aunt who I hate and hates me in return. I shouldn't have to do this." I was frustrated and angry.
"Please love, I need you to be safe. I can't lose you too." My mother said and started to cry again.
"I know mom, I'm sorry. I don't mean to upset you. I just don't understand. Why was dad involved with these people?" She shook her head.
"Your guess is just as good as mine." She said. "Your aunt Kathy doesn't hate you, Blake. She has just never been the mothering type, and I hear her new husband is actually a great guy. Maybe her lifestyle has changed." I rolled my eyes. I've only met my aunt Kathy maybe a total of five times my entire life. Her first husband was a very rich man and when he died he left her everything. My mother said she wasn't always a hateful bitch. I guess she changed after her husband died. She is a self-centered child-hating bitch. Every time she was around she always let my mother know what a waste of space I was. A dream crusher, she would say. The last time she visited us, I was sixteen and I called her a bitch in front of everyone. Of course, I was grounded for it, but that was the last time I saw her. I'm sure she is jumping for joy.
"Baby, I'm going to miss you so much." My mother said.
"I'm going to miss you to mommy," I said holding onto her. I looked over at the door where all the things that we could take with us sat. I took a deep breath as my mother snored next to me. I can't believe I've got to leave New York and go all the way to Las Vegas, Nevada. I've heard its really hot there and it doesn't even snow. I've never been to that side of the country. I've always wanted to go to California, but never the desert. I had a long flight ahead of myself and I wasn't looking forward to it. I hate airplanes and I have to switch planes twice. I covered my mother up with a blanket and went into my bedroom. I crawled into my bed one last time and fell asleep.
"Blake, Blake." Officer James said waking me up.
"What!" I yelled out.
"Blake you have to get up or you will miss your flight." He said on the outside of my bedroom door.
"I don't care," I said burying my face into my pillow.
"Come on dear, you have an hour before we have to get you to the airport." He said. I kicked my covers back.
"Okay, okay I'm up. Can you ask my mother to come in here please?" I said as I sat up on the side of my bed.
"She has already left." He said, opening my door and looking in. I glared my eyes at him.
"What?" I spit out.
"She had to leave early this morning." I was pissed.
"But I didn't even get to say goodbye. Why didn't she wake me?" I yelled out as the tears fell from my eyes.
"It was her choice, Blake." I didn't believe him. He sat down next to me. "Look, Blake, I'm sorry things have to be this way, but until we get the people that did this to your father. We have to keep you and your mother safe. These are very bad people Blake, and they left a note saying they were coming for your mother."
Officer James was a very kind and good looking man. Which I was guessing, his age was around his thirties. He has been by my side since all this went down. He kind of reminds me of a lost puppy dog. He placed his hand on the small of my back and smiled at me. I've always taken his kindness as flirting. I never really had a hard time when it came to men. I've always been flirted with and I've had plenty of dates and little relationships here and there. I've just never loved any of them and I never got really serious. I always stepped away before that could happen.
I've always loved myself. I wouldn't really call myself conceded, but I was happy with my looks. I stood about five, ten and weighed around a hundred and thirty pounds. I had long dark brown hair that reached my ass with hazel green eyes. My breast were a proud full c cup and I had a nice round ass. I loved my long legs. Most of my friends were shorter than me. The one thing I really hated about dating, was if the guy was shorter than me. I liked my men tall and manly. Hard to find when there was nothing but little boys around you at all times.
"Come on Blake, you need to get ready to go." Officer James said. I nodded at him and made my way into the bathroom. After I got out of the shower. I pulled on my Nike black and white sweat outfit because here in October it was still chilly outside. I didn't really know what the weather would be like in Las Vegas. I brushed out my hair and pulled it into a messy bun. I grabbed my travel bag and met officer James by the front door. All my things were already in the truck.
"You look great Blake." He said looking me up and down. I laughed, I didn't even put on makeup today.
"Thank you, James," I said and winked at him as I made my way out to the truck. He followed close behind me. The plane rides were long and I was uncomfortable the entire time. Officer James was trying his best to keep my mind free of the ride, but it wasn't working out well. As I white-knuckled the seat the whole time. Thank god we were landing in Vegas now. I took a deep breath as the plane touched down. Officer James grabbed my bag and we headed off the plane.
"Okay Blake, I put my phone number in your cell phone. I'm only a phone call away if you need me. Please use it even if you're not sure." He said to me. I smiled and nodded at him. "Come on let's go find your aunt."
We made our way to the baggage claim. There she was standing by one of the bagging pickups. Of course, she stood there with an annoyed look on her face in her expensive designer clothing. Nothing has changed. I said to myself. We walked up to her and she took a deep breath. "Well, it's about time." She said. I just rolled my eyes. Thank god she didn't see me. She looked me up and down and then looked over at James. A smile spread across her face. Gross, I said as I shook my head. "Hello." She said as she stuck her hand out for him.
"Hello ma' ma, I'm officer James. I'm here to deliver Blake to you." Great, now I'm a package. I said to myself. She looked over at me and wrapped her arm around my shoulder.
"Don't worry officer, I'll take good care of Blake here." She smiled up at him. I just laughed to myself.
"Okay Blake, this is where I leave you. Make sure to behave yourself and remember what I told you." He smiled at me and kissed the top of my head. Then he walked off. I took a deep breath as I watched him leave and my aunt let go of me.
"Grab your things and let's go." She snapped. Alright then, I went over and grabbed the two bags I came with. My boxes would arrive in a couple of days to her home. I followed her out to the curb where the limo was waiting. The heat hit my face with force. I just shook my head. A man came over and took my bags to the back of the car. Aunt Kathy got inside the car and I followed her. I took a seat and closed my eyes. Oh my god, it's so hot here. It's October for crap sake. Aunt Kathy's phone began to ring and I listened as she answered it.
"Hello, babe."
"Yeah, I've got her."
"We're headed home now."
"Okay love, see you soon."
She hung up the phone and just looked at me. "What's his name?" I asked her. She smiled at me.
"His name is William. He is gorgeous and very rich." I smiled as I scratched the top of my head. It sounds about right. I said to myself. "Look, I know you're not happy about having to live with me. Trust me I'm not happy about it either. So how about you stay out of my way and I'll stay out of yours. Deal?" I just nodded at her and turned to look out the window.
We pulled up in front of a gate and the driver typed some numbers in and the gate opened. We pulled up in front of a very large and expensive house. The driver let us out and sat my things at the door. As I bent down to pick my things up the door opened. There in front of me stood the most amazing looking man I had ever laid eyes on. His body was incredibly ripped and he had tattoos up and down his arms. He was sweating as if he had just got done working out. Aunt Kathy walked up to him and wrapped her arms around him and kissed his lips. He looked up at me with her lips on his. I blushed and looked away.
"So you must be Blake." He said. "Welcome to Vegas." I smiled at him and he took my bags from me.
"She can get those babe." My aunt said as she rolled her eyes at me.
"I got it, I'm sure she is tired from her long trip as it looks as though she is just now realizing the heat we have here." He said.
"Thank you," I whispered out. He was really young looking, much younger than my aunt. I followed them into the house. It was big and beautiful. "Your home is very beautiful aunt Kathy," I said, as we made our way through it.
"Thank you, but it's William's home. I just moved in myself." I smiled at William and he winked at me. Aunt Kathy walked off down the hallway. William turned to me.
"Come on Blake, I'll show you to your room." I nodded at him and followed him up the stairs. He showed me to a room that was bigger than my home in New York. Oh my, I said to myself. "Do you like it?" He asked me.
"Yes, it's perfect. Thank you, William." I said looking around. I even had my own bathroom. He went and sat my things down on the bed.
"Your aunt and I sleep in the master bedroom downstairs. We're going out for dinner tonight, would you like to join us?" He asked me. I remember what my aunt said to me in the car on the way here.
"That's okay." He smiled at me.
"Well I insist Blake, it would be nice to get to know you." He said and I blushed again. Get a hold of yourself Blake. He is just a man like all the rest. I said to myself. I nodded at him. He had the most amazing smile. I blushed again, stop it, Blake, he is your aunt's husband.
"Okay, I'll go. But you might want to let my aunt know." I said.
"Well she doesn't make the rules, I do." I took a deep breath as he said that. He just stood there looking at me. "Are you sure your only seventeen?" He asked me. I smiled and nodded at him.
"What time should I be ready?" I asked him.
"That's better, be ready by eight." He smiled and headed out of the room. He stopped and turned to face me. "Oh and Blake." I looked over at him. "It's hot out there. Might try, not wearing so many clothes." My heart skipped a beat. Oh, I said to myself. He closed the door with a smile on his face.
