In the dark, can anyone hear you cry?- Quote
I tried to open my eyes, but the pain all over my body was to much. I could hear voices all around me. I couldn't make out any of the voices.
"Are you sure she's not dead?"
"Yes, I'm sure."
"But the crash was pretty bad, look at her. It's been days now and she is still out."
"Stop worrying so much."
The voices seemed to intertwine with each other. I passed out again.
"She can't just be missing. How is there absolutely no trace of her or her car?" Ivy cried out in Reese's arms.
"Don't worry princess, we will find her." Reese said. I was pacing back and forth in the living room. Dawson was on the phone trying to call in some friends to help. It's been five days now with no trace of her. The police were being no help. She is old enough to disappear if she pleases. I walked over to Ivy and Reese.
"Can I ask you guy a question?" I said, they both nodded their heads at me. "You don't think she would just give in and go to Paris without saying anything do you?" I asked them. Reese stood up.
"She may be a free spirited girl, but I can promise you this, she wouldn't just take off without telling someone." He said. I smiled and nodded at him.
Beth's sister and husband were here and she was being a big help. She was making food and drinks and just moving her poor pregnant self around like crazy. I walked over to her. "Jordan, please you have got to sit down and rest. Your going to go into labor if you don't sit down." I said. She looked over at me.
"I know, but I need to keep myself busy or I'll lose it." I just smiled at her.
"I understand, but... please, please have a seat." I said. She nodded at me and I helped her to the couch.
"Your a good man Dante, Beth is lucky to have you." She said.
"Thank you." I said to her. Just then the front door opened. Jacob and Allissa came walking in. I just rolled my eyes. Jacob went over and sat next to his mother. She wrapped her arms around him and started to cry more.
I walked over to Allissa and pulled her in the hallway where no one could hear us. "What the hell are you doing here?" I asked her.
"I'm here for moral support." I just shook my head.
"You don't even care about Beth." I spit out.
"But I care about you." She said, touching my hip. I backed away from her.
"So are you here for me or Jacob?" I said. She looked into my eyes.
"Don't you think if she cared about you, she wouldn't have just left you?" She asked me.
"What are you saying Allissa?" She looked down and came closer to me.
"I'm just saying, I wouldn't just disappear on you like this." She said.
"Your crazy, you know that. Stay away from me." I spit out and walked away. I wish Jacob could see what she was up to. I walked back into the living room. Dawson pulled me aside.
"My boys are on their way here." Oh god, I said to myself.
"Dawson, I'm truly grateful for your help, but I don't need gangs around her family." Dawson smiled.
"Dante, these men are your family to, and they will help find her." He said. "Besides it's mafia, not some gang." I just shook my head.
"That's why I got out, no disrespect man. I just don't want her family knowing my past." Dawson smiled at me.
"Don't worry, they will never know they were here." I nodded at him and patted him on the back.
"Thanks man." I said.
I opened my eyes, but all I saw was blackness. I tried to reach out and touch my body, but my arms wouldn't move. I tried to move my legs, but they weren't moving. I took a deep breath and felt nothing but pain. I cried out and heard nothing but myself. "Hello?" I shouted out. I waited to hear something or someone, but there was nothing. "Please help me." I hollered. Still nothing moved and no one came. I started to cry. I was in so much pain and I had no idea where I was. All I could think about was Dante. I needed him. That's when I heard the door open. All of a sudden lights came on. I blinked a couple of times and tried to look around at my surroundings. I was in a small room laying on a dirty bed. I took a look at my body. I was badly bruised all over and both my legs were wrapped up and both my arms. I had a bandage across my belly. There was dried blood all over me.
"Hello." I said, but nothing. Then I heard foot steps coming towards me. I stayed quite. A figure stepped in front of me. The person was tall and had a black ski mask covering their face. "Please help, I'm in a lot of pain." I cried out. The person nodded at me and left. When it returned it pulled a needle out of it's pocket. "No, please." I said. It just nodded at me and put the shot into my leg. I cried out, but within a few minutes, I felt the warm liquid go through my body and the pain was gone. I closed my eyes and passed out again.
I knocked lightly at Reese's office door and stepped inside. He was on his phone and I took a seat. He looked at me and continued his conversation.
"Yes Damon, that's correct. It's been five days now and there's no trace of her what so ever. You know I wouldn't have called you if this wasn't an emergency."
"I understand. yes please come and bring your wife. I'm sure Ivy would love to see Brook again."
"My home is large enough for everyone. Thank you cousin."
He hung up his phone and turned to me. "I've got family on their way to help." He said to me. I nodded at him and thought to myself. He can't be talking about the same Damon and Brook that I know.
"Where are they coming from?" I asked.
"They will be flying in from Seattle this evening." I took a deep breath.
"Please don't take this the wrong way sir, but is your family the mafia?" Reese's eyes just stared at me.
"Why would you ask me that Dante?" He asked me.
"This is Damon and Brook Franco, were talking about right?" I asked him. Reese stood up and he didn't look pleased.
"How do you know them Dante?" He asked me. I took a deep breath. It was now or never.
"I use to work for him." I said.
"You mean to tell me you were part of the mafia?" He asked me. I nodded at him.
"Yes sir, but I got out along time ago. My friend out there Dawson, is still apart of it. He has men coming as well." Reese looked at me funny.
"Did you leave them on good terms?" He asked.
"Yes sir, but I worked under his partner Enzo Benito in New York. I only met Damon and his wife a couple of times, but I was Enzo's right hand man." I watched Reese take a deep breath.
"So, that means we have people coming from both sides. I need to call Damon back." Reese said. I nodded at him and left the room. I went out to find Dawson. I couldn't believe the woman I loved was family to Damon Franco. The largest leader of the Italian mafia. This might be a problem. God, I hoped not.
"What's up?" Dawson asked me.
"We might have a problem." I said. He looked at me funny.
"What do you mean?" He asked me.
"I just found out that Beth's family is related to Damon Franco." Dawson's eyes went big.
"What does that mean?" Dawson asked me.
"It means you have men coming from New York and now Damon and his wife and I'm sure Damon's men are on their way here now from Seattle." I said. Dawson took a deep breath.
"Shit." Was all he said. "What did you tell Mr. Jackson?" He asked me.
"I told him the truth. He is talking with Damon now."
Dawson said he needed to make a few phone calls, but i stopped him. "Let Reese and Damon figure this out." He nodded at me.
"Maybe your right." He said. We both waited for Reese to come back out of his office. I'm sure he will be talking with us. Beth's mother and Jacob still sat on the couch and Jordan was asleep next to them. Allissa was sitting quietly in the chair while Dawson and I stood by the fireplace. Reese came out of the office and he pointed for us to follow him into the kitchen. Dawson and I both headed that direction.
"Okay, so here's the deal boys. Damon and his boys are on their way and Enzo and his men are on their way. There's going to be a lot of people here and I need your guys help."
"Excuse me sir?" Dawson said. Reese looked over at Dawson.
"Yes?" He said.
"Did they seem upset?" Dawson asked. I took a deep breath. Reese smiled.
"Actually the only thing Damon is upset about is that we didn't call him sooner, but Enzo is excited to see you Dante." I smiled shyly.
This could be a good thing or a bad thing. I said to myself. "They will all be arriving this evening so I need to call in help to get this house together for them. I've made a list of certain food and alcohol I want here for them. Do you guys mind running out and grabbing these things." I took the list from Reese and Dawson and I left.
I don't know how long I was out for, but I woke up in pain again. The person who was there before was sitting in a chair across the room. My mouth was so dry. The person got up and came to my side. "Water place." I said. It nodded at me and walked out. It returned with a glass of water and a straw. I tried to sit up, but failed miserably. It sat the glass down and put it's arms around my back and lifted me up. I hollered out in pain. It went and got a lot of pillows and placed them behind me. It then put the straw to my lips. I drank like I haven't had water in days. "Thank you." I said. It nodded at me. The person went and sat back down in the chair in front of me. I decided to try and get some answers.
"Do you know why I'm here?" It nodded at me. Okay so this person is not going to talk. Yes or no questions only. "Did you take me?" It shook it's head no. "Did you knock me off the road?" It nodded it's head yes. I took a deep breath. "Are you working for someone else?" It shook it's head yes. I turned my head and closed my eyes. "Are you going to kill me?" It didn't move, it just kept looking at me. I started to cry again. It got up and handed me a tissue. Then the person started to rub my head. I couldn't understand why this person was being so kind. "I think I need a doctor." I said, as I felt blood dripping down my side. I pointed to my stomach. The person looked down and grabbed a rag. It placed it on my stomach and pushed down. The pain was so bad that blackness bloomed in front of my eyes.
