She woke up the next morning and reached out, he the bed was empty. She lifted her head and looked around. She could hear the shower, he was in the bathroom. She got up and walked into the bathroom, naked. She could see him in the shower, he was leaned against the wall, the water washed over him.

“Hey. Want some company?” She shouted.

“I won’t be long.” He replied.

Not waiting she opened the shower door and looked at him. He looked troubled. She stepped into the cubicle and closed the door behind her. She slipped her hands around his waist and pressed herself against him. The water washed over her. She reached up and kissed him.

“Good morning.”

She smiled, he forced a smile.

“Good morning.”

She stared into his eyes.

“Is this about last night?”

He turned his eyes away, he was embarrassed.

She hugged him.

“Michael, it’s okay. Let’s not let anything spoil what was a lovely night.”

He turned back to look at her.

“See! You are bothered.”

She sighed.

“No. I’m not. But you are. You told me that you loved me. I’m flattered.”

He still looked uncomfortable.

“Listen. I care for you a lot. I like you, a lot! And the fact that you said what you did. It means a lot to me, Michael.”

He sighed and hugged her.

“It was a rookie mistake. Yelling out ‘I love you’ during sex. Who does that?”

They laughed.

They showered together and managed to keep their hands off each other just long enough to get the job done. And after a light breakfast, they headed down to the jetty to pick up the ferry that would take them on a tour of the lake.

First stop was the town of Bowness on Windermere. They spent the morning walking around the town which was filled with a lot of local art and craft shops which Sarah spent most of her time in, and her money. They had lunch down by the lake and looked out onto the tourists who had begun to fill the town and lakeside.

They had an excellent vantage point and could see the ferry as it made its way towards the jetty and were in the queue waiting to board when it docked.

They re-joined the boat and they enjoy a cruise up to the top of the lake at Waterhead, where they disembarked and spent the afternoon walking around the area and into Ambleside.

They returned to the cottage just after five and she slumped onto the sofa. She was tired, her feet ached, she felt like she hadn’t walked so far in such a long time. He sat beside her and she leaned into his chest as she slipped his arm around her back.

“Hmm, this feels nice. I’m so glad we did this Michael.”

He kissed the top of her head.

“Yeah. It’s been such a long time since I’ve been this relaxed.”

She turned her head and kissed him.

“Michael?”

He looked at her.

“Make love to me.”

He smiled and kissed her. He stood and held out his hand, she took it and he pulled her to her feet and led her upstairs.

They lay on the bed, naked, as he kissed her softly. His fingers traced small circles around her areola as he gently caressed her nipples. His tongue pushed between her lips and entered her mouth. She pushed her tongue at his and they danced inside her mouth. Both let out moans of pleasure as his fingers rolled her nipple between them. He lowered his head and sucked in her nipple. She cried out and pulled at his head as his lips worked her hard nipple. He lifted his head and began to move down her body. She gently pulled his up to her and kissed him.

“No. Please. Make love to me now Michael.”

He smiled, “anything to oblige my lady.”

He slid a leg across hers and slipped it between her legs and pushed them apart. He slid his body across and lay on her. They kissed as she felt his hard cock prodding into her leg as she ground herself against him.

“Oh god. I want you now Michael.”

He smiled to himself, she was aroused for him.

She lifted her knees and placed her feet on the bed as she shifted and reached down and guided his cock between her lips and probed until he found her hole.

They locked eyes as he positioned himself then he pushed forward, and he felt his cock open her up and push inside of her. She groaned as she felt herself being spread and stretched as she slid into her, slowly filling her up.

He moved slowly once he was inside. This was no rushed fuck, this was love, he was making love to her, and she loved it. She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him closer and they kissed. She loved how he tasted, how he moved inside her. Her feet hooked behind his legs and she started to move against him. They were controlled, loving, it was heaven. She hadn’t felt like this in such a time. This wasn’t the first time that they’d had sex, but it was the first time that they’d made love.

They were both moaning and panting as he moved in and out of her. She ground her pussy against him, pushing him deep into her and grinding her clit onto him. The atmosphere was highly charged, as they moved in unison. She pulled his head into her neck as she thrust up at him as she felt her orgasm rise.

He felt her pussy walls clench around his shaft and he began to thrust deep into her and move quicker. They were both breathing heavily now and she dug her fingers into his shoulders as her orgasm rushed over her. She cried out in pleasure as her legs gripped him tightly and she thrust her bum up at him.

He felt her body shake and her legs hold him tight as she came, and he could feel her pussy pulsing around him as he thrust once more and groaned as he felt his cock twitch and begin to deposit his cum into her. They lay together, she was moaning and purring from her orgasm as he lay on her and his cock jerked inside her as he spurted his cum into her.

When they were both calm, he rolled off and lay beside her. He turned onto her side and rested her head on his chest, his arm slipped around her and held her.

“Mm, that was perfect Michael.”

He was still breathing a little heavy.”

“Oh, Sarah. I’ve never had sex like this before.”

They cuddled. And he lay on his back as she fell asleep on his chest.

She was woken by a shake. As she came to her senses, she could hear her mobile ringing. She opened her eyes and could see Michael leaned over her with her phone in her hand.

“Sarah, it’s Becky,”

She took her phone. She looked out of the window, it was still dark. Becky wouldn’t call this early unless something was wrong. She cried out.

“DAVID!”

Michael watched as she talked to her daughter. He could see that she quickly became distraught. He put his hand on her shoulder, she glanced up at him, she had tears in her eyes.

“We’re on our way.”

She stared ahead after she’d hung up. He stroked her shoulder.

“David’s in hospital. He’s had trouble breathing all night and then,” she fought back tears, “then, he had a heart attack.”

Michael jumped out of bed and was immediately into control mode. He told her to get up and get dressed. And he immediately got dressed and began to pack their cases. She was in shock, she moved slowly, she didn’t speak, she slowly dressed in yesterday’s clothes as David rushed around and in no time had their cases packed and stood by the door. She came out of the bathroom, he met her and took her in his arms. She sobbed. He stroked her hair and held her as she cried.

“Come on. Let’s get going.”

She lifted her face to him, her eyes were red, he stroked his fingers across her cheeks. He wanted to smother her in love, he wanted to protect her.

They drove home as quickly as he dared, and largely in silence. She spoke to Becky a few times and got updated on his progress. He was unconscious and being monitored in ICU, he was critical, and had been resuscitated twice. He drove most of the way with one hand on hers.

“Wait for me, David, I'm on my way.” She whispered.

He dropped her at the main entrance, he had to ignore the security guard who was making a bee-line for him and he drove off as she rushed inside.

She rushed in and was directed to ICU. As soon as she walked into the department she was met by her son, Peter. They embraced, and she started to cry again, as he explained his father’s current condition.

She was shown into the ICU where her daughters Becky and Amy rushed to her and the three fell into each other’s arms and sobbed.

The doctor explained what had happened, and what they’d done. After he’d gone a nurse took her to him and she stared at him, laid there with tubes going into him and a mask on his face. She tried to hold it together as she sat beside his bed. She reached out and took his hand and squeezed it.

“Now come on David, time to come back to me.” She whispered.

She began to talk to him about the kids, about life, about anything. As she did, she looked around, there were machines all over the room. The room was filled with beeps and flashing screens of the many monitors that were fixed up to him.

She had been there for about half an hour when Becky slipped beside her, she leaned in.

“Where’s Michael?”

She turned, she’d forgotten about Michael. She looked at her daughter.

“I don’t know. I’d forgotten about him.”

Becky put her hand on her mum’s.

“I’ll go and see if he’s still here.”

Becky walked out into reception and spotted Michael sat on his own and staring into space, she recognised him easily from his photos. He was as good looking in real life as his pictures suggested. He looked up as she stood next to him.

“Michael?”

He nodded.

She explained who she was and sat beside him. She filled him in on her dad and her mum. He was so sweet, he asked about her, about her dad, and her and her siblings. They chatted and he said that he would go home and leave Sarah with them.

“Not yet, Michael, I’ll get mum to come out. You can’t just leave.”

She hugged him and returned to her mother. A while later Sarah emerged and walked over to him. They hugged and she sat with him. Eventually, he left and she returned to her family and promised to keep him updated.

They took turns in sitting with him. They watched as he was checked every fifteen minutes, drips were changed, machines tweaked, yet still, he remained unconscious.

As night fell, she told the kids to go home, but they refused, they weren’t leaving until he was out of the woods. Sarah spoke with the consultant who told her that he had developed an infection and it had weakened his heart.

“To be honest Mrs Watson, it is touch and go. He’s fighting it, but his heart is weak now.”

She looked at her husband as he lay there, and she stroked his hand. He looked at peace, no tremors or shakes. She reached out and a calm came over her. She smiled at him as her fingers stroked the back of his hand.

“Darling, I know that you’re fighting, and we want to you to pull through. But if it’s time, and you need to go. Know that I will always love you.”

She bent over and kissed his head.

“I love you, David. I will love you forever.”

They stayed with him through the night, taking it in pairs to sit for hour-long shifts with him. It was in the early hours of the morning, Sarah and Amy were with him when his machines began to beep, and alarms sounded.

Nurses rushed in and a doctor joined them, and the family stepped back and out of the room. They watched as they worked on him and seemed to have got control back. The alarms stopped and they were allowed back in.

The doctor spoke to them first.

“I’m sorry. But there is no easy way to say this. He is close. I think he’s ready to go. I would be prepared and maybe say your goodbyes whilst he can still hear them.”

His daughter’s started to cry. Sarah hugged them as the doctor walked away.

“Okay girls, Peter. If this is it then we go in and we talk to him. You tell him how much you love him, what he’s meant to you, anything. But don’t get upset. Okay?”

All three nodded and they walked in together and sat around his bed. And began to talk.

It was at around five in the morning, Sarah had hold of his hand when he died. He just slipped away and suddenly, the heart monitor emitted one long monotonous beep before it was turned off by the nurse. Who left them alone with him?

Sarah looked down at him, she reached out and stroked his face, now clear of the oxygen mask and ran her finger across his lips.

“Sleep tight, my love.”

She turned and loved out of the way as her children said one last goodbye to their father.
