Chapter 1 - Moving In
Max can barely contain his laughter. “Listen to mister prim and proper, ‘I’ll expect nothing less.’ Come on, Aiden. Just fucking say what you mean.” He glances back at Rebecca in his rearview mirror. “Princess, don’t let him fool you. What he meant to say is you better have your sweet ass in his bed tonight, or he’s hunting you down. Isn’t that more like it, bro?”
Aiden draws in a long breath and smiles as he takes Rebecca’s hand. “Actually, I thought more along the lines of I can’t picture my bed without you in it.”
Shuttering with laughter, Max shakes his head and glances back at him. “Yeah. I’ll bet that’s exactly what you meant.”
Rebecca throws her arms around Aiden’s neck and kisses his cheek. “Aww, baby. I love sleeping next to you too.”
When they pull into Rebecca’s driveway, she sits forward and points toward the garage. “That’s odd. Alex’s truck is here.” Her eyes dance between Max and the truck nervously. “Of course, I guess if you really didn’t see him on the pier. He could have had time to catch up with Emma before she left. I don’t see her car.”
Putting his truck into park, Max lays his head back against the headrest and looks over at her. “Hey, if you’re not comfortable or you’d rather come back another time. That’s fine too, but you can be assured that there’s no need for you to worry about Alex. We’d never let anything happen to you.”
Aiden rests his hand on her shoulder. “Baby, Max is right. You don’t have to worry about him. We’ll come in with you to get your stuff.”
Resting her hand over his, she smiles. “I know, and I really appreciate that, but this is still my house, and I’ve done nothing wrong. So, whether they’re here or not, I’m not going to let them stop me from getting my clothing.”
“If we’re here just for your clothing, I’ll take care of anything that needs to be replaced.”
“Aiden, you’ve already bought me a new wardrobe, and I love you for it. I really do.” Rebecca frowns as she looks up at him. “That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to have some items that remind me I’m still me.”
Slapping his hand off his thigh, Aiden jumps out of the truck and takes her hand to help her down. “Say no more. That I can understand. Let’s go get your stuff.”
With the guys trailing along behind her, they make their way to the house. Max skips over to Alex’s truck and peeks into the window. “Well, he’s not in here.”
Rebecca opens the front door, and they can hear the thump of bass coming from upstairs. Timidly, she turns around to look at them. “No, but I think he might be inside. Emma wouldn’t leave the stereo on and go to work.”
Following the music upstairs, they quickly realize it’s coming from Rebecca’s room. A sick feeling falls in the pit of her stomach as she reaches for the handle and gives the door a shove. Even in the darkness, Emma’s squeal cannot be mistaken. Rebecca walks in and flicks on the light.
Jesus Christ! Are you fucking kidding me?
The sight of her supposed best friend straddling Alex on her bed feels like a knife slicing into Rebecca’s chest. It takes a second for her to catch her breath. Max strides across the room to shut off the stereo while Rebecca glares at them with fire in her eyes. “I can’t fucking believe you two.”
Pinning Alex with her stare, the hatred radiates off her. As she speaks through clenched teeth, her eyes narrow. “To think only an hour ago, you were begging me to come back to you and couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t give you another chance.” She laughs sardonically, shaking her head as her eyes shoot to Emma.
“And you! How dare you call yourself my friend?! You are not worthy of friendship. You’re nothing more than a common whore. No wonder he came bouncing straight back to you.”
Alex leaps up, sending Emma off the side of the bed as she scurries to grasp the sheet for cover. He lunges toward Rebecca, but Max’s arm juts out, stopping him in his tracks before he can reach her. “Oh no, rockstar. I don’t think so.”
Trying to tug his arm free of Max’s grasp, Alex looks at Rebecca with puppy dog eyes. “Becca, I swear. This is not what it looks like.”
Rebecca bends down with an eerie laugh and tosses him his pants from the floor. “Oh, no? I’m pretty sure I can surmise what’s happening here. A play-by-play is definitely not necessary.”
Noticing Alex’s freshly swollen eye and cut lip, she shoots Max a questioning glance. Shrugging, Max returns a half-ass smile. The corner of Rebecca’s mouth tugs upward, and she turns her gaze back to Emma. “You, my dear ex-friend, will need to find a new roommate. I’m moving in with Aiden. We’re just here to get my stuff. Don’t worry. You two can keep the bed since you seem to have claimed it anyway.”
Her eyes flash to Alex as she throws his words back at him. “As for you, I just have one last question. Tell me, were you thinking of me while you were fucking her in my bed, Alex?”
Rebecca glances up to the ceiling and takes a deep breath.
That’s right, Becca. Cut the wound and let it bleed — time to cleanse yourself of Alex for good.
Embarrassment takes hold of Emma, and she wraps the sheet around herself. Her apology falling on deaf ears as she hurries past Rebecca. “I’m so sorry, Becca!”
Aiden takes the large suitcase from Rebecca’s hand and starts filling it with clothing from her dresser. When he glances behind him, he finds Max leaning against the doorframe with his arms folded and his eyes glued to Alex. “Hey, let him leave and come help us pack so we can get the hell out of here. He’s not worth the trouble.”
Max pushes away from the doorframe with a grunt, letting Alex pass and kicks the door shut behind him. His grizzly face brightens with a warm smile as he turns toward Rebecca. “As much as I’d like to rearrange his face for you. I think Aiden’s right. You probably just want to get the hell out of here. So, tell me where to start.”
Grabbing a row of sweaters from her closet, she places them into a large garment bag and turns to face him. “Aww, Max. I love you, but Aiden is right. He’s not worth it.” Pointing to an empty box by the bed, she smiles. “If you could grab anything from my nightstand and desk, that would be great. Aiden and I can pack the rest of my clothing.”
Heading for her desk, he stops mid-stride and turns. “Hey, Becca? I know it must have been difficult witnessing that first hand. I just want you to know that we’re not insensitive. If you feel the need to take a few minutes alone, or…” His voice trails off as he holds his arms out to her. “Maybe you feel like you might need a hug. I’d be more than happy to accommodate such a request.”
Tears well in her eyes as she walks into his waiting arms. Tightening his hold on her, she fights to quickly swipe away any tears before they can fall. She promised herself she wouldn’t waste another lick of emotion on Alex, and it’s a promise she needs to keep. Backing away, she forces a smile. “Thanks, Max. I’m okay. I promise. I just need to get out of here.” Her smile slowly fades as she looks over at Aiden and nods to reassure him before heading back to her closet.
Honestly, she’s not quite sure what she’s feeling after seeing Alex and Emma on her bed. Initially, it was a blow to the chest, but now —
It’s not hurt nor anger.
It’s not even betrayal.
At the moment, she feels absolutely nothing.
In fact, it feels like she walked in on two strangers. Almost as if she’s completely disconnected from the situation. Turning to face the final pieces of clothing, she shrugs and stuffs them into the last suitcase. As she turns, Aiden pushes himself off the doorway where he’s been standing watching her. He takes the bag, setting it down on the bed and takes her hands. Inhaling deeply, her eyes meet his. “Well, I guess that’s everything.”
Smiling, he kisses her hand. “Max has already taken everything else down. Are you really okay, baby?”
Her arms wrap around his waist as she looks up at him with a slight smile and nods. “Yeah. Really. I’m fine.”
“Well, like Max said, if you do feel...” His eyes meet hers as she shakes her head.
His lips tighten as he nods. “Okay, never mind. I’m not going to pry.” Kissing her on the forehead, he peers around the room. “Is it safe to assume we’re ready then?”
Taking the keys from her key ring, she lays them on the desk with a nod. “Yep. I’m ready.”
Emma and Alex are sitting in the living room on the sofa as they walk toward the door. Alex stands, and Aiden stops abruptly, raising his hand. “Rockstar, I swear, if you know what’s good for you, you won’t say a word. It can only end badly.”
Without saying anything, Alex flops back down on the sofa. His shoulders hunched, forearms on his thighs and his hands clasped together before him. Satisfied, Aiden wraps his arm around Rebecca’s waist and guides her out the door.
They find Max standing at the back gate of the hummer as they reach his truck. He grabs the final garment bag from Aiden and tosses it in the back, his eyes shift between the two of them. “Is that everything?”
Gazing down at Rebecca as she nods, Aiden smiles. “Yeah. We’re done here.”
Slapping the back of the truck, Max grins. “Alright! Let’s get the hell out of here.”
Rebecca and Aiden are snuggled up in the back seat when Max peers at them through the rearview mirror. “Hey, I thought maybe we could take a drive out to Nan and Pop’s tomorrow. I think it would be good for Becca to meet them. Don’t you?”
Kissing the top of Rebecca’s head, Aiden looks down at her and nods. “I do like the sound of that. It’ll get us out of town for a few days and away from any brewing nonsense. Plus, I’ve never taken a woman home to meet Nan and Pop before. For all I know, they might think I’m gay.”
Rebecca can’t contain her laughter. The thought of anyone thinking either of them is gay seems like such a ridiculous thought. “I’d love to meet them. Do you think they’ll approve of me?”
Squeezing her hand, Aiden smiles with a reassuring nod. “Rebecca, there is no question in my mind that they’ll love you.”
Suddenly, the night they spent in the hot tub together scratches at the surface of her thoughts, and she quickly tries to hide the pink creeping across her cheeks. She’ll need to push those thoughts aside if they’re going to meet Aiden’s grandparents. Lord knows they won’t approve of her if they know about their three-way shenanigans. “Do they live here on the Island?”
Turning into Aiden’s driveway, Max pulls up in front of the door and parks. “Yeah. They live closer to the northern end in a small logging village called Gold River. Have you heard of it?”
She steps out of the truck and shakes her head. “No. I can’t say I have.”
Aiden tosses a garment bag over his shoulder and grabs one of her suitcases from the back of the truck. “Well, it’s a tiny village. I think the last I had checked, it had a population of about thirteen hundred residents. Nan and Pop literally live in the middle of nowhere, but they love it. I had a house built for them a few years back beside Muchalat lake.” He shrugs casually. “They’re simple people. Pop tinkers in the garage and fishes almost daily while Nan works in her garden and bakes. There’s little to no cell service out there, and that’s exactly how they prefer to keep it.”
Opening the door for Aiden and Max, Rebecca looks back and smiles. “It sounds wonderful! I’d love to go. As long as you’re sure they won’t mind.”
Max drops her bags on the floor and lifts her into his arms, twirling her around with a hoot. “It’s going to be great! Trust me, princess. They’re gonna love you!”
Setting down the bags, Aiden smacks Max on the back with a smirk. “Okay, Max, put her down. I’ll call Nan and Pop now to let them know we’ll be heading up tomorrow.”
Grabbing his phone, he glances over at them. “Why don’t you two go ahead and get in the hot tub. I’ll join you when I’m done. I should probably check in with Natasha before we leave as well.” Kissing Rebecca, he pats her on the bottom. “Baby, go ahead and join Max. I’ll only be a few minutes.”
A roaring laughter pierces the air as Max throws Rebecca over his shoulder and darts upstairs with her kicking and slapping at his back. “Take your time, bro! Don’t worry. I’ll keep her company.”
Aiden dials Natasha to let her know they’re back from Jamaica and make sure she doesn’t need anything before they head out again for Gold River. Hopefully, she can speak with his lawyer in the morning about Alex and the contract.
Thankfully when Natasha answers, she’s her pleasant and very efficient self.
‘Hey, boss! It’s great to have you home. I already know what you’re going to say. Max called about an hour ago. He mentioned you’d be calling. Don’t worry. I’ll have the lawyers diffuse anything that comes up with Alex Healey. Enjoy your time with your grandparents.’
“Wow. Thanks, Natasha. I knew I could depend on you. Had I of known Max had already called, I wouldn’t have bothered you. You know how to reach me should you need anything.”
He can hear her fingers flying across the keyboard as she giggles. “You’re not bothering me, boss. It’s always great to hear from you.”
Aiden hangs up with Natasha and shakes his head. “Sneaky, Max. Very sneaky.” He dials his grandparents and is greeted with a cheery ‘Hello’ on the other end. “Hey, Nan! How are you?”
‘Oh, my goodness! Aiden? Is that you, dear?’ She squeals through the receiver.
“Yes, Nan. It’s me. How are you and Pop doing?”
‘We’re just wonderful, son.’
“I’m happy to hear that, Nan. Listen, Max and I were hoping to come out and visit for a week or two. I’d like you to meet my girlfriend Rebecca.”
‘Oh, that would be wonderful! When can we expect you, honey?’
“We were planning on leaving tomorrow. Would that be alright?”
’What a silly question. I’ll set up your rooms. Pop will be so excited to see you boys. Did you say you’re bringing a girlfriend?”
“Yes. Her name is Rebecca. I hope that’s alright.”
‘Of course! She must be someone pretty special for you to be bringing her home.’
“She really is, Nan.” He takes a deep breath. “I think she might be the one.”
‘Oh, Aiden. That’s wonderful news. I can’t wait to meet her. I’m sure she’s lovely.’
“She’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of and more, Nan. In fact, she and Max are waiting for me in the hot tub as we speak. So, I’m going to let you go so I can join them, but we’ll see you tomorrow.”
‘Alright, honey. Drive safe. We love you.’
“Love you too, Nan.”
Hanging up the phone, he heads upstairs to change. The sound of Max and Rebecca laughing outback sends a warm sensation through him. He hates to admit it, but Max was right. This is how it was always meant to be.
When Aiden reaches the patio, Rebecca is sitting across from Max in the hot tub. He pauses by the doorway for a moment, absorbing the view. Rebecca’s hair is pulled back in a high ponytail, her cream-coloured skin is glistening with droplets of water, and her laughter floats through the air like music to his ears. There is no mistaking it — she is the one.
“Hey! There he is!” Max shouts with a wide grin. “What are you waiting for, bro? Come join us.”
Shaking the fog from his brain, Aiden strides toward the tub and climbs in beside Rebecca. Throwing his arm around her, he hugs her close to his side and kisses her temple. She looks up, her eyes twinkling from the glow of the lanterns. “Is everything okay?”
“Yep. Everything is set. I called Natasha.” He looks over at Max with his brow raised. “But, that was completely unnecessary. Max already called her. She’ll have our lawyers on the lookout for any nonsense. They can diffuse anything before it starts.” He chucks his chin at Max. “Thanks.” Toying with Rebecca’s fingers, he inhales and relaxes deeper into the water. “I also called Nan and told her all about you.” Aiden rests his cheek against her damp hair and smiles to himself. “She’s excited to meet you, baby.”
His words, ‘I told her all about you’ seem to carry an echo as images of the three of them together in Jamaica flash through her mind. She turns to face him, a glint of uncertainty momentarily blurring her vision. “I know this is going to sound stupid, but please tell me they don’t know I’ve slept with both of you.”
Pinching the water off the end of his nose, Aiden smiles and shakes his head. “No. I assure you that never came up. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say she’s likely preparing our rooms as we speak.”
“Good! ’Cause, I can’t wait to meet them, and I really don’t think they’d approve of me if they knew.”
Max splashes water toward her playfully. “Princess, will you stop. They’re going to love you!” Filling their glasses, he peeks at her from under his brows. “You know. You’ll be the first chick either one of us has taken up there to meet them.”
Rebecca leans against Aiden and looks up at him curiously. “Why is that? I mean, lord knows you’ve dated enough women. Why haven’t you taken any up to meet them?”
He takes a sip of his drink and kisses her forehead. “I guess I didn’t feel any were worthy of meeting Nan and Pop. They’re very special to me, so whoever I take up to meet them has to be just as special.”
“Oh my god! Did you just hear yourself? You’re such a sapsucker. You better be careful, Becca,” Max says with a sly smirk. “Now, I know he’s just trying to get into your pants.”
Feeling the flush creep across her cheeks, she giggles and chucks her chin toward him. “So why haven’t you taken anyone up to meet them then, Max?”
Aiden laughs. “Ahh, she’s got you there, brother.”
Bowing his head, Max grins. “Yeah. I guess she does.”
He sets his glass down on the edge of the hot tub and slides over next to her. “Well, I guess Aiden’s right. There hasn’t been anyone worthy.” Kissing her hand, he stands. “Now, on that note. I’m off to bed. You two do everything I would and more. Just make sure you squeeze in some sleep. Don’t forget, we have a long drive tomorrow.”
Aiden takes Rebecca’s glass and chuckles. “Oh, don’t worry, we will.”
Grinning, Rebecca waves. “Goodnight, Max.”
Wasting no time, Aiden pulls her into his lap and drops his lips to hers with a low moan. His hand rests gently on her shoulder while his finger twirls a tendril of her hair. Lightly brushing his tongue over hers, he ignites a rush of excitement in the pit of her stomach. She pulls back, licking her lips with a smile. “Mmm. Mr. Collins, I do love those lips of yours, and that tongue — the things you do with it are absolutely sinful.”
“In that case, Miss D’Angelo, what do you say we go upstairs? I’d love to show you some of those sinful things I can do with my tongue.”
Giggling, she wraps her arms around his neck. “Oh, you can be so persuasive.”
A devious grin spreads across his face as he lifts her from the water and strides toward the house. “I’m going to take that as a yes. Now, let’s see if I can make you scream loud enough to wake up Max.”
“Why do you like to torture him so much?”
“I’m not torturing him. I’m giving him soothing sounds to jerk off to,” he says with a chuckle. “Besides, I’m willing to share with him if you’re up for it.”
Her mouth drops open as she swats his shoulder. “Aiden!”
“What? I said, only if you’re up for it. Trust me. I definitely enjoy our nights alone, and I would never consider sharing you with anyone else, but Max is different. He knows our boundaries.”
“Mmm.” Kissing his neck, she whispers close to his ear. “Then why don’t we invite ourselves into his room? I’m up for it if you are.”
Stopping outside of Max’s room, Aiden sets her on her feet and gives her a lopsided smile. “Sure. Why don’t you go in? You can surprise him. I’ll come in and join you in a few minutes.”
Studying his eyes curiously for a minute, she nods. “Okay. Should I wake him, or wait for you?”
Slowly shaking his head, he looks into her eyes. “No, there’s no need to wait for me.” He lightly runs his thumb across her bottom lip and smiles. “I think you should wake him with this beautiful mouth of yours. Trust me. He’ll love being woken by you. I’ll be in shortly.” Kissing the top of her head, he walks back toward their room.
Watching him disappear down the hall, she quietly opens Max’s door. He’s lying on his back with his chest on full display, the sheet barely covering his hips and one arm thrown over his head. A heated flutter rushes from her belly, and she licks her lips at the sight before her.
Creeping slowly toward the bed, Rebecca lifts the sheet and slides under next to him. Catching the faint smell of his cologne, she pauses briefly to savour his scent before aligning her upper body with his lower half. Her fingers wrap around the shaft of his flaccid manhood, giving it a gentle squeeze. As if it were an automatic response to it swelling in her palm, her mouth opens, and she licks her lips. Her tongue juts out, connecting with the large muscle under his shaft. With one long stroke, she licks from the base to the tip. A moan rumbles from the depths of his chest, and she can’t help but smile. Using her opposite hand to cup his balls, her tongue circles the tip before sliding it into her mouth.
Another low moan rumbles above as he drops his hand to the back of her head. “Mmm, Becca. You have no idea how many times I’ve dreamt of this.”
His once flaccid dick now a rock-hard soldier ready for combat, nudges the back of her throat. “Oh my god, baby. Please don’t stop.”
Without saying a word, she crawls between his legs, lightly stroking the base with her hand as her mouth slides along his shaft. The taste of his arousal grows evident on her tongue as his hips rock in time with her hand. Each stroke pushing him deeper into her throat. “Holy fuck, Becca. That feels so damn good.”
Not hearing a response, Max reaches down and pulls her hand free from the base. His hips jut forward, pushing him deeper into her throat. Her core tightens as a growl of pleasure emanates from above. “Fuck yeah, baby. You’re gonna make me cum.”
His breathing becomes rapid, and she can taste his pre-cum on her tongue. Determined to let him have this dream, she finally opens her throat, accepting him fully.
He issues a low warning. “Becca.”
Max’s hands fall from the back of her head, and he grasps the bedsheets in his fists. “Seriously, Becca. I-I’m gonna cum.”
Continuing to suck as he rocks deeper into her mouth, his breathing increases, and his balls tighten in her hand. “Becca! I can’t stop —”
The first blast of warm salty liquid hits her throat, and she repeatedly swallows, accepting every last drop he delivers.
“Ahhh.” Max expels a long breath as goosebumps form across his flesh, and his muscles begin to relax. He reaches down, sliding his hands through her hair and gently pulls her up to face him. As she hovers above, Rebecca licks her lips with a mischievous smile. Max wraps his arms around her, holding her tight to his chest. The fog begins to clear, and he kisses the top of her head. “Not that I’m complaining, but out of curiosity. What the fuck brought that on?”
“We were having a discussion when Aiden said he didn’t mind sharing as long as it was with you. So, I suggested we visit your room. Except he sent me in alone.” She shrugs and glances toward the door. “He was supposed to come back in a few minutes, but...”
Max rolls her underneath him and hovers over her with a sly smile. “Well, I’d say it’s his loss then. Wouldn’t you?” Shimmying down her body, he spreads her thighs to accommodate himself and looks up at her. “I promise you. I won’t let you regret coming into my room alone.”
His head disappears beneath the sheet, and she can feel a warm burst of breath across her mound. As he lays his head on her inner thigh, he runs his finger along her opening. “Besides, it feels like we’re doing just fine all on our own.”
Slipping his finger inside her, he rubs his thumb over her swollen bud. A moan escapes her as the flutter of anticipation rapidly begins to build deep in her stomach, but it’s quickly met with disappointment as he withdraws his hand. However, those butterflies quickly return when his tongue slides between her folds. She clutches his shoulders, her fingernails digging deep into his flesh. “Oh, Max.”
His head surfaces briefly. “Yes, baby. Cum for me.” He spreads her folds with his fingers and sucks her bud into his mouth.
Bucking her hips, she grasps at the back of his head and releases a deep moan. “Oh, my — God — Max!”
Her body tenses as waves of excitement rip through her, sending ripples of pulsing pleasure straight to her core. “Holy — shit!”
The sensation is so intense that she tries to push his head away, but he refuses to move. Instead, he releases her throbbing bud and laps at her opening.
“Uhh!” The unintentional response bursts from her lips as his tongue delves deep inside her. With her toes curling into the mattress as her back arches, she puffs out a relieving breath and relaxes. Her voice the smooth sound of a soft melody. “Jesus, Max.”
A devious smile stretches across his face as he crawls up beside her and pulls her against his chest. “God, I love the taste of you, Becca. Why don’t you stay with me tonight?”
An awkward silence settles in between them, and he slides his finger under her chin and raises her head, forcing her to look into his eyes. “Look, if Aiden wanted you in his bed tonight, he would have come to collect you by now.”
Her body slumps back in against him. Rebecca knows he has a valid point. Sated, her body still limp from her release, she nods. “Okay. I guess you’re right.”
“Of course, I’m right.” He tightens his arms around her, and that’s the last thing she remembers.
