I was six years old when my father Mark Addison passed away from cancer. I didn’t really know what that meant at the time. All I knew was daddy wasn’t coming home. My baby sister Katy Addison was only four and she really didn’t know what was going on. Over the years my mother did a very good job of taking good care of us. When I turned eleven she met a man by the name of Mr. Jack Dalton. For five years it was only me, my mom, and my sister. Then she introduced us to Jack. He was a kind man to us and we really did start to like him. He came around more and more. Until the day we moved into his large home. Jack had a lot of money and he asked my mother to marry him. That meant we had to move.
I was excited to be living in a new home until my sister and I had to meet Jack’s son. Lucas Dalton was fifteen years old. He was Jack’s only son. He was four years older than me. He was also the most annoying person I had ever met. The kid was out of control and never listened to a word anyone ever told him. He liked to make me and my sister crazy. I did my best to just stay out of his way the best I could.
The great thing about moving here was we all got our own rooms. Back home we shared a room with my mother. We could only afford a one-bedroom, but now we were living like queens. My mother and Jack met at a party one night though some friends. They hit it off right away and I was happy for my mother. We hadn’t really seen her smile in so many years. Just being around the two of them showed you, they were very much in love. After my father passed away, I had to start learning how to care for my little sister. My life pretty much became about helping my mother raise her. Now that my mother and Jack married, my life became my own.
I was starting high school now and Lucas just graduated. Thank god he was moving out of the house. Over the last couple of years, he made it his life’s goal to bully me whenever he had a chance. I hated it when he had his friends over because that’s usually when things got bad with him. He would tease and bully me in front of his friends. He was nothing but a jerk.
Today he was leaving for college and I was starting high school. Four free years of no Lucas and I was happy about it. I stood in the mirror looking myself over. I pulled my long dark brown hair into a ponytail and did some makeup over my big brown eyes. I started to head out and bumped right into Lucas in the hallway. “Hey watch where you're going Scar.” He said. I just rolled my eyes at him and kept moving. “Aren’t you going to say goodbye, my Scar I’m stuck with forever?” He said. I stopped and turned and looked at him.
“Yeah, peace,” I said and kept walking. I heard him laugh behind me. I just rolled my eyes again. My first day of high school went great. My best friend Jessica and I felt like we ruled the school, even though that wasn’t true, we still, really had a good first day. I felt like I was at peace without Lucas around. I’ll never forget the day I was walking home from middle school and a boy started to bully me and he pushed me to the ground. Lucas saw and just walked away. I cried for days and he told me to grow up, that the world was full of bullies and I needed to learn to stand up for myself, but I didn’t have to worry about that anymore. He was gone.
Four years later...
“Scarlet Addison!” I heard Jessica yell from the bottom of the steps. I peeked my head down and looked at her.
“What Jess, damn?” I said.
“You better not make us late for our own graduation. I swear to god. You and your damn hair.” She hollered. I just smiled at myself in the mirror. Over the last four years, I have really grown up. It was like overnight. I shot up and out. I’m five foot ten with long blond brown hair to my ass and big brown eyes. I have also filled out well. I’m a full c cup breast and I have a nice round ass. I’m actually very happy with my looks. I have a boyfriend named Andy and we have been dating for two years. He is a jock and head of the football team. Jessica and I have been on the cheer team for three years and my senior year I became the head cheerleader. Now here we were graduating high school and getting ready to head off to college. My mother stuck her head in the bathroom. “I’m so proud of you.” She said.
“Thanks, mom,” I said back to her.
“Jack is proud of you too.” She said.
“I know mom,” I said. We headed downstairs and all loaded up in the car and headed to the high school. After the ceremony, we all headed back home. There were a bunch of parties going on tonight and Jess and I had planned on hitting them all. I was a little sad. Andy had already headed off to school. He left for school all the way across the country.
The first party we got to was a bore so we left and headed out to this farmhouse party. It was really happening. There were a ton of people there. I already turned eighteen and most of the people here were in college already. A lot of seniors were here too. The music was good and Jess and I decided to stay. We were both dancing when I happen to notice a guy standing off in the distance with a group of other guys. I couldn’t really see his face but he was tall and very muscular with a ton of tattoos. I don’t know what it is about tattoos, but they drive me wild. He is a large and very fit guy. He really did look out of place here and of course, he was drinking. Something I didn’t like. Some of the other guys he was hanging around were checking out Jess and I. Two of them actually came walking over to us.
“Hey girls, how’s it going?” We smiled at them and I saw the big one just looking over at us. I still couldn’t see his face. One of them went to hand me a beer. I said no at first.
“Come on Scarlet. It’s your last night as a kid. Have fun for god sake.” Jessica said. I thought about it for a moment and then just said fuck it and took the beer. We all started dancing and having a really good time. About five beers and ten shots later, as the world started to spin, all I can do is dance. I had this guy dancing with me that I didn’t know and his hands were all over my body. All I wanted to do was move away from him but my legs didn’t seem to work.
“Can you...stop... please.” I tried to say. It wasn’t coming out very well. I needed to sit down before I started to puke. I finally got my legs to move and I moved away from him.
“Come on baby, where are you going.” I heard the guy say behind me. I didn’t listen as I found a quiet spot to sit down. This was a bad idea. I said to myself.
“Having a hard night?” I heard someone say behind me.
“Yes, I’m really ready to just go home, but I don’t think I know where that is,” I said. Just as I turned to see who I was talking to. My stomach had other ideas. I barreled over and it all came out. Then I saw blackness bloom in my eyes. In one minute I was over someone’s shoulder. The next minute I was in a car. Then I woke up the next morning in my bed.
Oh god, I said to myself. As I rolled out of the bed and went into the bathroom. How the hell did I get home last night? I said to myself in the mirror. My lord, I looked like shit. I turned the shower on and jumped inside. After about an hour-long shower. I pulled on a sweater and a pair of short shorts. I pulled my hair in a bun and head down to the kitchen. I needed some coffee. The house sounded quiet. A little too quiet. I stopped in the hallway and listened. I heard nothing. Well hell, I guess I got the house to myself. I hurried down the steps and I guess I went just a little to fast because I missed the last step and down I was going. Someone grabbed me just before I hit the ground.
“Hey, are you still a little drunk?” I heard him say. I looked up into two very familiar blue eyes.
“Lucas?” I said. He smiled at me. I moved back from him and looked him over. This wasn’t the skinny, asshole kid that left for school four years ago. I had to look him over twice. This was a man. A large man covered in tattoos and muscles. His hair was short and neat with just enough bangs to fall slightly in his eyes. His hair was brown and his eyes were big and blue. He was amazing looking. He was in a pair of dicky shorts and a wife-beater tank top. I just shook my head. “What are you doing here? Wait, were you at the party last night?” I asked him. He had a slight smile on his face.
“You really shouldn’t drink so much Scar.” He said. I fucking hated it when he called me Scar.
“You brought me home?” I asked him. He nodded at me. “Why do you even care?” I asked him.
“I don’t.” He said all rude.
“Whatever,” I said rolling my eyes and walking out into the kitchen. He followed me. I looked over at him and he was just standing in the doorway looking at me. “What are you looking at?” I snapped at him.
“Why?” I said.
“Because I can.”
“Well don’t be creepy or anything,” I said grabbing a bottle of water.
“Why are you being such a bitch Scar?” He said with his arms crossed. “I could have just left you there last night and let them have their way with you.” I shot my head over at him.
“What?” I said.
“You heard me.” I crossed my arms. “You really have grown up Scar. I mean your actually kind of hot.” I smiled and then remembered who I was talking to.
“Shut up Lucas,” I said. He just smiled and walked out of the room.
