Chapter 16

The rest of the week went by pretty slow. There wasn’t much going on except for the normal business stuff. I was being left at home a lot. Lucas and Jack were gone a lot, but they were off doing things that didn’t concern me. I thought a lot about returning to school. Considering I had so much free time. I figured I should put it to some sort of use. I got myself back into school part-time. I still needed to be available for Jack and Lucas whenever they needed me. I was getting bored one Saturday evening and I hadn’t seen Lucas all day. I decided to jump in the car and bring Jack and him some dinner. I really wanted to see him. I knew they were down at the warehouse. I stopped and grabbed some food and headed to them. I stop with security and then parked and headed inside. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary as I made my way towards Jack's office.

I walked past a couple of Jacks men, who was looking at me like a deer caught in the headlights. I wonder what that’s all about? I said to myself. Everyone here knows me. Whatever, I said to myself. I kept heading towards the office. The door was cracked and I went to peek inside to make sure I wasn’t interrupting anything. That’s when I saw him. Lucas was standing in the corner of the room with some redhead woman draped all over him. He was smiling and laughing with her. I stayed quiet for a moment and watched them. Then this bitch wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. My mouth fell open as I watched and he did nothing but kiss her back. At that moment I didn’t know whether to be heartbroken or pissed the fuck off. I choose pissed. I slammed the door open walked in and grabbed the woman by her hair. I tossed her ass to the ground and smacked Lucas right across the face. “So this is why you are never home anymore?” I yell in his face. Before he could even say a word. I spit on him, “Fuck you, Lucas. You will never touch me again!” I shouted and started to head out of there. Jack came walking in and I pushed right past him.

“What the fuck is going on?” He shouted.

“Ask your piece of shit, son!” I yelled back as I ran out to my car.

“Scar, wait!” I heard Lucas yelling. I stopped and turned around and flipped him off. He still continued towards me. He stopped in front of my car.

“Unless you want to be under my tires. You had better move!” I yelled. He stood his ground.

“Get out of the car and talk to me.” He said. I backed my car up and floored it right towards him. Jack grabbed him just in time and I sped out of there as fast as I could go. The tears poured down my face and were making it hard to see as I drove away. That son of a bitch. What the hell was this for him? I can’t believe I fell in love with him. My phone was blowing up and I grabbed it and tossed it out the window. I watched as it broke into pieces on the road. I didn’t fucking care. I drove back to the house and ran inside. I ran to our bedroom and packed a bag. I got out of there before anyone could show up. I had no idea where I was going, but I was going. I drove for what felt like hours until my eyes didn’t want to stay open any longer. I came to a small little town and pulled into a motel. I had taken all the cash I had with me, which was a lot so I didn’t use any credit cards. No one was going to find me until I wanted to be found. I got myself a room for the night. I crashed hard and cried myself to sleep.

The morning sun came pouring in and woke me up. I sat up and looked around the room. I had forgotten where I was for a moment. Then it all came flooding back to me and my heart hurt. I got up and started some coffee. I then went and jumped into the shower. Where the hell was I going to go? I said to myself as the hot water fell down my body. I knew the last place I wanted to be was back home. I wanted nothing to do with any of them. Jack, my mother any of them. I felt like a fool. Like a dumb woman for thinking he ever cared.

I got myself together and headed out to find a cheap phone. I had realized that I had made my way to a small town in Arizona. If I had my phone I could call Darren Marsh. That would show Lucas. I laughed at myself. Because I wouldn't even do anything with that man. I did have over ten grand on me. I could just start a new life and change my name. I laughed at that thought as well. I found a cell phone store and got a new phone. I pulled it out and gave my mother a call. I didn’t want her to worry about me. I also needed her to understand I wasn’t coming home for a while. I needed some time.

“Scarlet? Where are you?” My mother said as she answered the phone.

“Hi mom, I’m fine. I just called to let you know I’m okay and I’ll head home when I’m ready to come home.”

“Where are you?” She asked me.

“I don’t know somewhere in Arizona,” I said.

“Hunny, Jack, and Lucas are worried about you.”

“Well, you can tell Jack that I’m okay and you can tell Lucas I said to eat a dick."

“Scarlet!” My mother snapped.

“He cheated on me, mom and I don’t give a fuck what he thinks. Tell him I said to get himself a full helping of red hair.”

“They have been out looking for you all night.”

“I don’t care. You can tell Jack that I’m out and his secrets are safe with me, but I’m out.”

“He is not going to be happy about this Scarlet.” She said.

“I don’t really care, mom."

“Maybe it would be smart if you talked with Lucas.”

“Maybe it would be smart if Lucas stays the hell away from me or I might shoot him,” I said and that made me smile. “Look mom I’ll be back. I just don’t know when. Please tell them to just leave me alone or I won’t come back at all. They don’t own me and I’m an adult. I’ll do as I please.”

“Scarlet, Jack is here he wants to talk to you.” She said.

“I’ve got to go, mom. I love you goodbye,” I said and hung up the phone.

Lucas’s POV,

“How could you be so fucking dumb.” My father yelled at me.

“I wasn’t doing anything wrong. It was Sandy that kissed me.” I said.

“And did you do anything to stop it?” He asked.

“I didn’t have the time. Scarlet came running in there like a madwoman and threw Sandy to the ground, smacked me, and took off. What the hell was I supposed to do?”

“You really fucked up this time.” My father said. Sandy has always had a thing for me. She has worked for my father for a couple of years now. She is one of the best at getting information from other men. Information that is very useful to my father. She is very good at seducing men. She has been after my dick for a very long time. I have always thought Sandy was a good looking woman, but she was never anything more than just sex. She also doesn’t know the meaning of the word no. I wasn’t doing anything wrong when Scarlet showed up. I guess I could have been more aggressive towards Sandy, but I was still her friend and just trying to be a nice guy about it. Of course, Sandy wasn’t having any of it and she took it to far. I went after Scarlet to try and explain what was going on, but the little asshole almost ran me over. That fire of hers always turned me on. Has for years, but now she was missing and I had gone everywhere I thought she would go looking for her.

It was the next day and we still had no idea of where Scarlet was. I was starting to get worried and my panic was setting in. We found her phone in pieces all over the road and I lost my shit. My father came walking into the kitchen. “She called her mother. I guess she is okay and will come home when she wants to come home. She also said she is out of the business.”

“What the hell is that suppose to mean?” I said.

“It means you really screwed up and she is done with both of us.” He snapped.

“Do we know where she is?” I asked.

“Somewhere in Arizona.”

“What are we waiting for? Let’s go.”

“No Lucas, we are going to leave her alone. Give her some time to think.” He said. I took a deep breath. My mind was racing all over the place. I needed to tell her what she saw was wrong and that I loved her more than anything. How could I just sit back without her?
